30 is old?

Good grief, what are you, 14 years old and posting from your moms basement?

"This article might have mentioned some of that, to provide some meaningful information rather than just giggles."

blunderdog that's the *old* Salon you're thinking, get with the program man/woman. The new salon is all about the giggles and page hits. Research and Analysis takes to much time, Math is hard after all.

Original article: The big veep showdown

Are the dems being setup for a surprise?

This video of Palin in gubernatorial debates in Alaska is a world away from her recent interviews:

She appeared calm and confident in these, her speech is markedly better.

@gehgoeson

I hope you're right, your points do sound plausible. If that's the case she's going down in flames and I imagine McCain with her.

People ...

I'm pretty sure Carol was being sarcastic re Palin.

Original article: The joystick of sex

Tombraider was not the first realistic female avatar by a *long* shot

And I think the sex appeal of the original game (which is quite different from its current incarnations) is way overrated.

What drew me and others to the original TombRaider was its gameplay and effects, both of which were ground breaking at the time. The Full 3D virtual camera was very well done but what really stood out were the beautiful haunting visuals and music.

For that matter there are a number of popular games that had nothing to do with sex - Myst and Riven spring to mind. Myst was the most popular computer game of all time until 2002 (unseated by The Sims):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myst

Actually I'd say Damon Brown is full of it - he's constructed a thesis around popular stereotypes, completely ignoring the actual statistics. What appears to fuel the gaming world is gameplay, beautiful art and social interaction.

I gotta admit the double standard is amazing

If it had been a 28 year guy cheating on his wife and family with what is practically a child - certainly a very young adult under the LW's authority, people would be calling for him to be castrated.

That some people are blaming the 18 year old boy for the affair - breathtaking in their hypocrisy.

Props to Brown for replying

It is good to see feedback and acknowledgement, but I still feel the interview and now his reply say more about how *he* views video games then the actual reasons people play them.

@homing in on the evil that lies as a legacy in the heart of every white American: a guilt that turns into fear

Oh just stuff off already would you, that ridiculous gross generalisation is wildly offensive and has no place in a civil article.

It belongs with the politics of fear and division that characterise the very campaign you despise.

If its really your dog

Take the dog and leave. Just so long as your are the one the dog cleaves to. Taking the kids/pets to score emotional points is the most despicable thing you can do in a divorce. So only take it if you are the dogs caregiver.

This marriage is dead

And worse, get the hell out of there ASAP. There is nothing but tragedy awaiting this journey.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the husband is molesting the child but he sure doesn't have a clue as to what he is doing. Certainly the child is highly manipulative and abusive her self, malicious even. However she's a child - that's her get out clause. Its up to the Husband and Wife in concert with professionals to parent her, however hubby is not letting that happen.

For sure Hubby is going to end up accused of sexual abuse by the girl - whether its true or not. And it will be ugly.

LW, get the hell out of there and slam the door - break off all contact.

Original article: "Australia"

For gods sake - try to know a little about a culture before you mangle it

There is no such thing as an Aboriginal "Shaman", that's a USA Native thing, which culture bears no resemblance to Australian Aborigines.

To answer your Kidman question - because she's a crap actress, waaaay overrated. Like Cruise, she only has one schtick and its long run out.

Don't trust him

let the money problem sort itself out. It will sort itself out. You will find a way to monetize your being. Trust me

He's a blithering idiot. We are not living some lifetime soap where it all works out in the end. If you do nothing then yesy you could end up 40, no job, no experience and facing a life in a dumpster.
