Original article: Come, see Palestine!

Dayenu - I do acknowledge Palestinian terror

Why do I not mention it in every second sentence as seems to be required - because its more than adequately screamed to the rooftops and beyond by the MSM and Israeli wing nuts.

I'd be a lot more impressed if you acknowledged Israeli terror and the overwhelming position of strength that Israel deals from rather than portraying them as innocent passive victims.

Double or Nothing ? more like nothing or nothing. Israel has all the cards here and is the only one able to broker a just solution, but Israel never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Be honest - what Israel requires of the Palestinians is to vanish into the sea, then Israel will feel secure.

Israeli missile devastates family

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13190613/from/RS.2/

The Amen family’s joyful trip in a new car came to a devastating end last month when an Israeli missile aimed at a Palestinian militant hit their Mitsubishi.

Three generations — a grandmother, mother and son — were killed, and a 4-year-old daughter and uncle were paralyzed.

With the exception of another uncle, the family has been barred from visiting the Israeli hospitals where the relatives are being treated.

Hamdi Amen can give only long-distance comfort, with the uncle holding a phone to her ear.

The Israeli Defense Ministry said in a statement that a committee decided to pay the medical expenses as “special humanitarian treatment.”

"Special humanitarian treatment" - I guess they're lucky then.

So hows the famous IDF "Purity of Arms" thing going ? Still proud ?

Dayenu - is it a good day to be Israeli ?

Abby - You'd be surprised

The readers on salon are diverse and wide ranging. I doubt many would have problems with you becoming a southern baptist or joining the NSA (however one does that ...)

Original article: Come, see Palestine!

The offer was nothing

It was a non-viable state - 4 bantusians divided up by israeli only roads with isreali control of airspace and borders, missing crucial water supplies and the best land traded for areas in the negrev desert.

And if you want to trade horror - you'd loose because Israel is *way* ahead of Palestine when it comes to the murder of innocents - civilians, men, women & children. And thats by offical IDF figures, god knows what the real ones are like.

Like Nicole said

The constant harping with Nazi/Holocaust references for anyone who critiques Israel has rendered them meaningless and insults those who actually suffered through them - (some of who also support rights for Palestinians).

I'm glad Dayenu feels he/she and Israel are morally superior to Nazi Germany or the various other oppressive regimes round the world - keep holding yourselves to that high standard guys.

In the meantime I wish Israel would formalise its de facto copyright and trademark on the Nazi references and the Holocaust, it would make the discourse easier if Dayenu had to pay a licensing fee every time he/she and others used it to shut-down discussion.

I bet the Palestinians wished they had a get out of jail free card like that.

I bathe in the rich aroma of your abuse

Ahhhhhhhhh .... that feels better

Whenever I tire of the usual mealy mouther platitudes of most writers I just tune into Heather, she never disappoints. Other aspire to colourful turns of phrase but only Heather feels like she *means* it.

ps I really must checkout Deadwood.

Awesome, just awesome

I was moved to tears. Just wonderful to watch after some really shitty news and not think about our mundane world for a bit.

Will get their CD or DVD if available. You should link to their web site.

Original article: The American dream

Elephant in the room

then the story of the American century is the story of all sorts of previously excluded, marginalized, scorned, despised, ignored or enslaved people -- laborers, women, African-Americans, Asian Americans, Jews, Latinos, gay men and women -- entering into full citizenship and full participation in national life.

Strangely missing from that list of peoples who can anticipate freedom in (or from) the USA is Moslems.

In your dreams

The real story of America is not about power, money or the march of armies

Like hell it isn't - that's the America the world sees.

Excellent Advice

Not a fan normally but I think Cary nailed this one - wife is classic Passive Aggressive Manipulator and the LW needs to take a much harder nosed approach and look after himself and his kids first. He probably needs to watch out for "You're emotionally abusing me!" or "Sexist Oppressor" counter attacks though.

Cary might be correct (If I'm reading him correctly) in postulating that the wife wants the LW to be more assertive - more "Manly" if you like and this is her rather childish way of trying to stimulate it.

Given the title I was hoping for some hot anal action ...

To the LW's Wife

Leave this guy - right now. Do not walk, run. He has to rate as one of the most insensitive controlling assholes I've ever had the misfortune to read. Ten years from now he will be a monster.
