  • Voting on a Holiday -- wouldn't that terrify our current crop of Republicans!

....Spoken like someone who desperately wants and needs the votes of the lazy. A Democrat in other words. -- Proximity Warning

You know, this belief that voting on a working day is easy and painless needs to be more thoroughly aired. Everyone on the fence about voting for an ultra-rightist Republican or a Democrat should be reminded of PW's attitudes about working people who have little control over their hours.

When I go to the polls mid-week, when I spend an hour in the morning reading and responding to Glenn's posts I lose money. I'm fortunate in that I'm presently able to take the hit (because if I couldn't read Glenn as and when I chose I'd be even more irritable than I am now).
However, the vast majority of Americans who are paid only for the hours they actually work -- they have no room for loss of income.

That's part of the reason why pensioners are over-represented in this comments section; they have a small but steady income that won't vanish if they speak their minds during the daylight hours.

Which government or private pension programs fund you, Proximity Warning? Remember to respond only for other readers -- I'm off to work.

Nowhere did I say that black men need to say, "Yes, Massuh." I said Wright is a racist hate-monger, and the evidence for this is bountiful. And the fact remains that Obama sat under this teaching for 20 years and lied about it. -- Klooster

Yes, yes... your type is sooo much more capable than us. Of course.....

Look, I've met a fair number of ultra-right northern Euro-whiners before -- balding blonds with drinking problems for the most part. But you have one distinctive tic that is worth discussing -- this Obama is a liar meme. You've said it about 4 times now.

To the best of my understanding Obama never highlighted Rev. Wright's sorriest blather prior to when it was "outed" by the press (doing its job for once). However, he came out quickly and clearly in a landmark speech repudiating Wright without "denying" him. (That is U.S.A. evango-speak code -- don't expect to fully "get" it.)

Soooo.... what exactly has he been actively lying about as regards to his church and racial issues?

  • Simple

[Read the article: Book news and media campaign coverage]

...what's more simple than "war is bad, because people get hurt?" Is that bad because it's simple? No. Yet here you are willing to trash the concept of simple. Stop it.-- shooter242

Yes, I find myself in rare quasi-agreement with you, shooter242. There is nothing wrong with simple, per se.

It's simply asinine for anyone with pretensions towards being an adult (much less a professional) to give a damn about Obama's bowling abilities --- but that begs the question: why were the doyens of the high political press so avid about this "issue" today? Glenn didn't craft it out of nothing, and it didn't spring full grown from the brow of his neuroses.

To see where that goddess of wisdom started, you have to recognize that the MSM is rife with guys who've simply never recovered from junior high school trouncings. They feel like total Larry Birds when they think they've found some physical activity that they're as good at as a black man.

It's quite simple to pick out that pitiable truth. I just don't get how you spin that as macho though -- that is simply weird.

    In simple conclusion:

The Iraq war is not in our national interest and it simply never was.

Placing our nation in debt bondage to the PRC is simply un-American.

The people who did this simply must be turfed.

  • Phone tricks from a mail order princess

[Read the article: Why doesn't the 9/11 Commission know about Mukasey's 9/11 story?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As mentioned above, a rapid 00 often works to break through to a human when you're trying to navigate through a voicemail system, but the override is sometimes not just a zero. Others that work are *0, or a furious combination of *s and 0s.
With retail customer service 800 numbers another trick I use is to respond to voice prompts by speaking the word "Help!" at each request from the calm, female computer voice. ~4 "Help!"s usually gets me to a human at Charter Cable, for instance.

However, small private profession service firms tend to be harder to 'work' than companies which must do business with the hoi polloi in order to thrive.

The Newark newspaper is likely the more open route to establishing contact with Mr. Kean.

  • Jebbie?

[Read the article: The DOJ comments on the Mukasey controversy]

The more I learn about this stuff, the more I see the incestuous relationships that exist in Washington, involving members of both parties. I'm starting to believe they are ALL whores. -- Jebbie

Ahem? You live in West St. Tammany. You or your close relatives are clearly native to one of the most "sophisticated" political cultures in North America -- and you've only just begun this mental process?

I don't believe it. This post was mild hyperbole on your part. You know exactly what sort of harlots these politicos can be.

Possibly you are just distressed by their lack of couth -- let's face it, even mid-level politicos in Louisiana have more social skills than many of these D.C. machers.

You're just starting to believe that they're dumb sluts, rather than the elegant courtesans you thought they were.
