Joe Klein is crap, McCain is crap, reporting on it is crap

I don't want to hear about people jumping a train because it now looks like a winner.

I don't want to hear from execrable pundits who's word isn't better than a shit smear on your underwear because they're suddenly on the side of the angels.

Cause there ain't no angels and all of these people are creeps, even if they support your boy.

Original article: Perspire to retire!

"Prespire"?! Why does this keep happening?

Are there no copy editors in cyberspace?

Original article: Perspire to retire!

Okay, they fixed it. As Emily Litella would have said, "Never Mind".

Someone must have been awake at the copy desk.

Original article: Let the whining continue

Did you notice how Phil re-spun his intended meaning?

He shifted his complaint to "leaders" who "whine" and don't "lead".

I don't remember any leaders "whining", do you? In fact, if my synapses are still firing, one of our huge problems has been that our "leaders" have been selling us a bill of goods, a bed of roses, a lie. GWB has been propagandizing for YEARS that the economy is robust. Well it is if you're already rich, right? That's the story, isn't it?

It's another issue the media has neglected: parsing our economic data so that the truth is revealed. How is it that all the "leading economic indicators" say what they do but many of us are struggling to make ends meet?

Please explain this to me, Mr. Gramm. And forgive me if I sound a little, you know, querulous.

Original article: Our cupboard was bare

@KingLeonidas: What's your sad excuse....

...for being so bitter and uncaring about other people? I've read your other posts, this is not about some thought-out rational political beliefs you hold, this is about your character, who you are.

Your soul is black and shriveled, angry and hurt. You have no empathy for people in need, no matter how they arrived at that station.

Why is that?

Hey help out here....

I lived in San Francisco for the first five years of this century. There were bike lanes, trails and accommodations like parking everywhere. Certainly more than most everywhere else in the U.S..

What happened? Are these things all gone? What has this individual blocked?

Hack director, hack movies

This guy had two of the best movie monsters in recent decades and made an unwatchable movie. (A v. P).

But something made money 'cause he's still working.

Wow, a thread where I agree with most of the other posters

The angle that strikes me as the most insane and certainly more worthy of your efforts is something that Jon Stewart did point out last night:

The money quote from the reporter that has her saying "If you replace the word "world" with "country", etc. etc.".

This is self-evidently the logic of insanity or complete cognitive dissonance. Yes, if you take my words and substitute OTHER words, you can make me say...most anything, can't you!

It defies belief and I wouldn't if I hadn't seen the clip with my own eyes. What is also hard to believe is that there are people whose career goals are so distorted that they can spew such insanity and that there are members of the viewing public who can countenance them.

Of course, I'm a snob. I believe even right-wingers are entitled to their opinions if they make some sort of sense.

That's just "messed up"?

Talk about devaluing the language.

When did Salon hire high schoolers to write their material?

Messed-up? Totally!

Original article: A booming economy?

@kufir77 Anecdotal evidence much?

"If the economy is so horrible, why is the Dark Knight setting humongous revenue records, I-Phones and I-Pods are getting gobbled up, Nintendo Wii's and Grand Theft Auto are huge, and people have no problem paying 100 bucks for an NFL game?"

The bifurcation of classes and the enormous disparities in income in this country is enough to dismiss your argument.

I know lotsa people with money. Maybe you're one of them.

I ain't. And there are lots of people like me, too.

Grooming counts you know.

Original article: Knock it off, Paul Begala

Palin is a sum of her experience: so why is the beauty pageant stuff irrelevant...or sexist?

This is absurd.

Of course much of her poise comes from beauty pageant training, how could it not and why is it sexist to say so?

And how could the participation in a narrow-defining, beauty-objectifying pony show not be demeaning, anachronistic and worthy of discussion...

...another discussion (from this thread) altogether.

Whether or not Paul Begala got it right?

@ Philadelphia Steve

You wrote:

"...Freedom has become synonymous with "weak". And I do not see how this can be turned around, unless the Republican leadership suddenly developes (sic) a conscience.

Which means it's over.

Sorry. -- Philadelphia Steve"

If you think a little "post-modern" snarky remark is appropriate in these circumstances then go find another society to which to belong. You don't have the luxury to sit back and pontificate about this one. Justify the attitude. Are you a foreign national giving a swift kick to the American cousin? If you're an actual resident of Philadelphia I suggest you revisit a little of your own history and come back here and beg for forgiveness.

"Sorry? ...it's over?" You're a coward and a fool.
