@AnnieW

You're right, certainly. I was responding to this specific a.m. appearance of Big Bill on the teevee machine. And, as another poster noted, Bill is all about Bill.

There is plenty of blame to go around and I'm not a Democrat but I get so tired of the previously-named weasels posting here with nothing but negativity. Yesterday I backtracked one of them who's not just a astroturfer but has been posting here with hundreds of posts over the course of the last 18 months.

Virtually ever one of the posts were black, hateful bile-filled reactions with no constructive intent whatsoever. Not that's not necessarily true of all the ne'er-do-wells I've highlighted. One or two of them may actually think they are offering constructive points-of-view...but only barely.

I do my best to lead a positive life but the snark within me finds it hard to resist such clowns.

Words matter, even Jim Lehrer's

Jim Lehrer made an interesting slip-of-tongue in posing one of his questions early in the debate.

I don't have playback to pinpoint the moment, but in asking a question he typified the role of the president (in our society) by saying: "As ruler of (this country)..."

I was dumbstruck. As ruler?!

The President is the executive. He isn't our ruler. Hell, he doesn't even run the country.

I like Jim Lehrer but is this slip telling of the wrongheadedness of the best of our press?

Did anyone else catch this gaffe?

His name is NorbitBoy

I wish you folks would treat him with more respect. It's NorbitBoy, like after the Eddie Murphy movie.

Damn libs, always wrong!

@mjwalker

Chyron is a brand name. It's a character generator (an electronic lettering device) that video editors use to run the lines of type over video programming.

Hope that helps.

@ Paddleman

Hey, get in the back with Benny74 and shut up.

You don't get any soup, either.

@ Benny74 Oh, one more thing Benny

Benny 74

You asked, "who let me out of my cage". Well, you did, actually.

You don't know this but I'm your Salon Buddy®.

You see, once a person of your ilk begins to infest these comment boards, spouting useless, antagonistic drivel, Salon calls up various volunteers to Be Their Buddy®.

Atop my monitor I have a little web cam-like device that lights up and makes a little "ding" every time you post! It's a Salon Buddy Alert®!

Now I can't be everywhere at once as apparently you can. My life has responsibilities that prevent constant vigilance or chaperoning you for every little tidbit of wisdom you leave behind.

But don't ever think you're not on my mind.

Buddy®.

@ Benny74 Personal insults will get you nowhere Benny

Why are you here Benny? Why do you keep coming back? Lonely? Actively seeking the abuse? The attention?

Why would anyone keep posting here day-after-day with regurgitated opinions and shadow facts? You seem to have enough cognitive ability to realize that here on Salon a certain choir is in residence.

To their credit and unlike most of the right-wing, intolerant web sites, these folks will allow debate and discuss complex issues with other folks who display circumspection and enthusiasm, intellect and, dare I say, compassion. Real compassion, Benny, not the cheesy fake conservative kind.

And you come here, to what? Convert these people with your anal retentive quotes from the partisan hacks of Chicago's neighborhood newspapers?

It's easy to see what you're selling Benny74.

My question to you is: Who's buying?

Johnny Mack once again illustrates the deep flaws of the modern Republican mind-set

"I'd fire him!" puffs Johnny Mack! "Damn business-guy corruptor! Not on MY watch!"

Oh yeah, well, the Preznit is not the boss of that guy.

The telecoms whined: "But the Preznits Peeps made us give up the data!"

(They ain't the boss of you.)

The MBA-minded, run-the-world-like-a-competitive-business (how's that working out for you, Wall Street?), Unitary Executive people think that whoever haunts the oval office is the leader of us all!

Imagine!

(The President is NOT the boss of me.)

The president is an executing position who implements and directs what we tell that person to do. Through our congressional seats.

You no like, we fire that guy, get another guy.

Your choice.

(The President of the United States of America is not the boss of you.)

@ Benny74

Benny 74:

You're insincere and disingenuous. You are a frightened, paranoid individual who comes here to play rhetorical games to no purpose other than waste valuable human time and energy.

You just wanted me to admit, what, that your sources are garbage and your point-of-view frivolous? That stumbles or mistakes that Barry Hussein has made are anything but molehills compared to the mountains of reckless ruin that anyone else who happens to be the current candidate of the opposition party can claim?

If you're not paranoid, then deluded. If not deluded, then a fool. If not a fool, then impaired. See a doctor. Begone.

@ Benny74 These are puny and impotent arguments my little friend

Benny, you quote a third-hand second-rate source of dubious journalistic reliability and expect...what, exactly?

That you'll get one of us to go: "Benny's right! Vague innuendo about what Barry Hussein did decades ago makes me Pick Palin/McCain!"

Yeah four more years of being a punk!

Go find another schoolyard crew of misfits to pester.
