  • We NEED to know about Cheney's secret energy summit, pre 9/11

[Read the article: The scary Cheney news keeps coming]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Those records must be somewhere. In these days of electronic communication the record of who attended this summit and what was said can be found somewhere. I think when found and revealed we will find that the upcoming terrorist strike was known. It will reveal, maybe in an understated way, that somebody knew. I mean it all just worked out too well for the bottom line for the military industrial banking complex. These are really really bad guys.

  • Bush is the puppet of Cheney

[Read the article: A Cheney-Thompson swap?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

He needs Dark Dick to tell him what to do. And of course the replacement of pacemaker batteries is a simple routine procedure. Right docs?

  • Contact your Republicans

[Read the article: White House refuses to comply with subpoenas]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In order to get any traction against these gangsters, given our current Constitution, we need Republicans to join in the outrage. Now if the Legislative Branch of government could have a vote of "no confidence" and get rid of malevolent crooks such as we have in our current administration that would be a very good thing. As it stands now, in order to dump these gangstas what we need is, alas, more Republican support. So contact your Republicans and tell them you'll never vote for them again if they don't gid rid of these greedy monsters.

  • Ted Baxter from the Mary Tyler Moore show many years ago

[Read the article: I work with the most annoying man alive]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This guy sounds like the Baxter character. This is touchy and there must be ways to attack this problem without hurting the guy's feelings. You can say "shut up Ted". It might be nicer than pulling him aside and tell him he's very annoying. Sometimes people who behave this way are insecure..so you might try being friendlier with him..try to get him to chat about a movie or TV show or book...so to break up his routine. Most offices have one of these. Comes with the territory. Don't put him down but use humor..gentle friendly humor..

  • Democrats will be doomed if they nominate her

[Read the article: Hillary and the e-word]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The Republicans are hoping the Democrats will nominate Senator Clinton or Senator Obama. There are just too many voters who won't vote for either of them. Edwards is probably the Democrats best hope — the most electable. And he's good on the issues and (this is important) a southern man sourced from the working classes. Other Democrats and the Republicans will give Edwards a hard time. And the multi-national corporations won't be too happy with him either. He's going to get hit but may be able to turn the hits to his advantage. I like Dodd,Richardson, and above all Kucinich's positions on the issues but don't think they have the momentum to get the nomination. Dodd has the baggage of being from the Northeast. Edwards is the best bet.

  • Libby did a good job for Bush and Cheney

[Read the article: Bush and Cheney walk, too]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And he has been rewarded. He was the designated fall guy for the treachery of Bush and Cheney. This administration reminds me of Goodfellas. Gonzales couldn't remember a thing and so protected his bosses. Bush and Cheney are now rewarding him for his loyalty. Libby too is being rewarded for his loyalty and OF COURSE Bush will give him a full pardon, right before he leaves office and maybe sooner. Libby will be well taken care of for the rest of his life..so he doesn't write a book. As long as Gonzales and Libby don't even think of writing tell all books, they will probably remain well off and alive.

  • current drug policies are held in place by the profit motive

[Read the article: Why Cory Booker is mad as hell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Our current drug policies put a lot of money in a lot of pockets. This hideous gavotte of drug money profits both the drug dealers and the "war on drugs" dancers. The way to stop all this insanity is to legalize all drugs, have government-funded notices about the dangers of the various drugs, and medicalize the distribution of drugs..so the addicts don't need to steal and the dealers don't make any money. When there is no money in dealing it..there will be fewer dealers "pushers". Pot should be taxed and treated as alcohol is now. Billions and billions go into our insane drug war. Could be used for, say, healthcare for all.

  • these laws benefit many and they are not going to give up their money

[Read the article: Why Cory Booker is mad as hell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"real name" says "We might as well randomly scoop up people off the street and lock them up arbitrarily for the benefit it does to anyone." But it does benefit people. It benefits the lawyers, drug enforcement officers, the private jailbuilders (Hallburton,I'll betcha) and the employees of jails among many others. It even beneftis The Partnership for a Drug Free America.

  • Samlor is right

[Read the article: Mom's a pothead]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I really disagree with Cary this time. If the mother wants to smoke pot she should be able to do so in full view of her family. The DARE programs and The Partnership for a Drug Free American are just money making vehicles for people who don't know what they're talking about....especially if the mother has back trouble. Pot is really helpful for pain and a lot less harmful in the long run than burning up the stomach lining taking NSAIDs. They need to explain to the child that the anti-marajuana laws are ludicrous. This is a weed that was legal and even prescribed until fairly recently. It was outlawed because blacks and Mexicans smoked it and the government wanted more ways to persecute and arrest these people. Both parents should explain to this child, and his brother, how these crazy laws came to be and the harm these have caused many people. While they're at it they could tell them how many people make huge amounts of money and small amounts of money off of this "Drug War". They have a chance to truthful with this kid. Of course the mother should never have tried to sneak around and smoke..she should just smoke it and if she wants to keep clear air for her kids then she should go outside and smoke. Every parent I knew whilst raising my kids smoked pot..some more..some infrequently. The kids are in ther thirties and forties now and turned out fine. DARE is a moneymaking crock and they should let their kids know that.
