  • It IS all-encompassing if you do it right.

[Read the article: I get grossed out when I hear, "I'm a mom!"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The "I'm a Mom" business doesn't last all that long..usually just when the kids are young. You don't know how all-consumuing mentally and physically that job is until you've been there. Taking care of an active two-year old is a full time job which requires thought and immense physical stamina. It is also very very rewarding. I remember an interview with Pete Sampras after he'd retired and had a two year old son. The interviewer asked him what he was doing and Pete said something like he and his wife had decided to take care of the kid pretty much by themselves. And then the interviewer again asked him what he was doing and Sampras said something to the effect that the interviewer clearly had not been ever taken care of a two year old. Sampras said it was the hardest work he'd ever done. So wait until you're a mom and then you'll know why people say that. Parenthood makes huge physical and emotional demands if you do it right. Then when they are seven or eight it eases up a lot.

  • Clinton will lose to McCain...the only candidate who polls show beating him was Edwards

[Read the article: Goodbye, Super Tuesday]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

One more time the MSM, by ignoring John Edwards, has engineered it so that a Republican will win. McCain, in past polls, was defeated only by John Edwards. It looks like another hundred years of bleeding in the desert and killing Iraqi civilians and making Bechtel, Lockheed, Halliburton, Exxon and the Carlyle Group even richer. Great.

  • some immigrants are racists

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton: The Asian-American choice]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In my own personal experiece many Asians, and immigrants from other places (like Russia), are racists. I've not known many Hispanic racists..I think they just like the Clintons for whatever reasons. Go Obama!

  • "Painting with a Broad Brush"

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton: The Asian-American choice]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Annonymous..this is good to know. That's great that young Asians are supporting Obama. I didn't know that. Maybe some of the young can explain to the older voters that we do not want a president who gave George Bush a blank check to invade Iraq. Or a Senator who chose to give added ammunition for Bush to invade Iran by labeling the Iran Revolutionary Guard a terrorist group.. Senator Clinton as been wrong on a number of her votes that relate to foreign policy. She voted for Kyl Lieberman and supported the bankrupcy act....Oy She accepts money from people in the defense industry. The war profiteering corporations own this country now and I do not trust Hillary Clinton to remove the power from these megamega multinationals who don't give a hoot about poor or middle classe Americans except to have them around as cannon fodder. Obama might be more successful at fifighting the Lockheeds and Bechtels, and GEs and Halliburtons and Carlyle Groups...maybe.

  • they are expensive but it's hard to put a price on a family member

[Read the article: What I wouldn't do for my cat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

When my three year old standard poodle (inherited from my daughter when she fled the country and went to the U.K. which at the time have cruel animal quarantine procedures in place) got a condition called "bloat"..the stomach flips..I rushed him to the hospital and they would not wake up the surgeoun to come and do the emergency operation unless I gave them a credit card for over $3,000. The operation and care after cost $3,070. The dog is now seven..a great animal. He forces me to get lots of exercise. He's always kind and loving and for the most part a healthy happy guy. Still, he's had several infected cysts on his tail, and surgery to move the cysts which were getting infected and recently a $450 stay at the vets to be rehydrated after a nasty virus. Pets are expensive. My ver lets me pay him off in installments. I don't have a car. I walk most everywhere and bring my dog. He costs about as much as a car..but he's much more affectionate and sweet and caring than a car. Worth it even if there are things I do without in order to afford to keep him. My vet says the insurance is not worth buying inot because they don't pay. He suggests setting asie money in a special account for vet bills.

  • You stayed too long

[Read the article: I'm having a European family feud]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Perhaps you could arrange an exchange of a house/apartment if you want to stay for three weeks. Five days is a max in somebody else's place..even your parents. And overseas trips are exhausting even without traveling with children. You need a day to adjust before seeing anyone. You are doing the right thing and not participating in their clearing of the air. Next time wait until you can afford to rent your own space...or get someone to exchange houses with you for a few weeks. Don't get sucked in to this whirpool of anger..you and your husband are not extroverts..so?

  • Senator Clinton did not vote?

[Read the article: Amnesty Day for Bush and lawbreaking telecoms]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What is wrong with her? this should absolutly sink her candidacy. At least Obama voted not to give the telecoms immunity. Senator Clinton is self-destructing. Toast.

  • Yes, Cary's right again..ask your daughter

[Read the article: My ex wants our 14-year-old daughter to witness his new wife's childbirth]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

LW wrote a smart letter. A 14 year old should be old enough to decide for herself if she wants to do this. She might well NOT wish to do this. Explain to her that it's possible that the woman giving birth might order her out of the room and that sometimes women in labor are..um..uncouth and that your daughter should not take it personally should that happen. (Hell, I ordered my husband out of the room..he didn't leave but I told him to..and I believe I swore at him and many others). If you tell her these things in advance she would be able to deal with it..if she wants to be there. I think the odds are probably about 50/50 of her wanting to be there. She should not be pressured by your ex and his wife to be in the room..Leave it totally up to your daughter. And be sure to let her know that whatever SHE decides is fine with everyone.
