the bride is probably pregnant
[Read the article: Isn't 16 a little young for marriage? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You should go to the wedding to make sure that the congregants don't try to convert your daughter to their particular form of superstition. Go so you can interpret the occasion to your daughter through you own sane well-grounded belief system. If they pray and carry on about their particular beliefs..just be quiet and don't do it with them. Your daughter will get the message. One of my daughter's friends had her first child at 16..while she was living with the baby's father. That family is still together..there are now three kids and the oldest one is going to a good college. You never know..for some people it is OK. And the 16 year old mother went on to get an advanced degree and has a good job. It worked out well.

so very sad..and for what?
[Read the article: The killing of Jamie Dean]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Maryland police were inept and criminal. Sending large numbers of armed forces into Afghanistan was not so smart. A covert operation would probably have been far more successful (if only we had some Arabic speakers!) And Iraq? Just about the oil..and stupid from the get go. We are a recruiting tool for OBL. What a tragic mess the last six years have been. And how rich our oil and weapons people have become.

he was set up..it's a victimless "crime"
[Read the article: Just don't stub it on the guy in the next stall]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's not like the lying Craig was lying to get us into a war. He didn't kill hundreds of thousands of people, or kill nearly four thousand Americans and maim many more Iraqis and Americans with his lies. Craig is not the liar we should be talking about here.

tennis anyone?
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't think I've ever seen an article by you about tennis. Why not?

send this to your Republican office holders in DC
[Read the article: "Broken Government"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tell them it is time to jump off W's sinking ship and hitch their wagons (from the water to the wagons!) to the Democrats' push to get out of Iraq. Tell them you won't vote for them unless they do this. We need Republicans to help defang this corrupt regime.

JackHughes is right
[Read the article: "Broken Government"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Good comment Mr. Hughes. A lot of our troubles would be helped if the elections for president were done with NO paid advertising of any sort. NO TV commericals at all.One primary day for everybody..the electoral college thrown out..and after the primaries (all on the same day) then one vote for President..who would be elected by popular vote..one person one vote. Each voter would be given a paper copy of his/her vote..and the voters would hold on to this paper in case a recount is needed. The paper votes should be barcoded or whatever to ensure they are not tampered with. Looks like we need a Constitutional Convention. Our election system is broken and we are now all owned by the fat cat corporations. Our citizens are not educated and can't think. The fat cats have created a country of mindless consumers..on purpose.

let's hope the cargo truck overturning was indeed a real accident
[Read the article: The war claims the lives of two critics]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]and that the soldier who was shot in the head was shot by an Iraqi trying to protect his/her country from American invaders. Let's hope there was no US government complicity, attempting in some way to "get back" at these truth tellers. It's come to this. I am so cynical about this administration that I would not be surprised to find out that all these young people were deliberately killed.

kinda predictable
[Read the article: A setback in Anbar]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That this would happen. Tell your Republicans they need to get US troops out. We've had it with this stupid war. They'd be better off without us.

Michael Weir said what Webb said
[Read the article: The "Return on Success" and the "consequences of failure"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]All those things that Bush said would happen if we left are happening now. Weir, on Cooper's 360, from Baghdad was fierce on this point (and others). It must be on YouTube or CNN website..it's worth finding it. And it was not such a surprise. We would not have built 16 acres of swimming pools and and luxury and electricity in Baghdad if we'd not planned on staying for a good long time....all the while enticing more terroristas to come and kill us there and (probably here too). So TELL YOUR REPUBLICANS that you've had it with this war and you want them to vote against funding for anything other than bringing EVERYONE safely home. That includes private contractors. No U.S. businesspersons allowed in Iraq. No more. They really don't want to see our faces in their country any more. Most Iraqis think it's OK to shoot at U.S. soldiers. What the hell are we doing there except making Halliburton rich and coveting for us all the oil that is below Iraq? We must leave..and give the problem to Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan,..etc. They probably don't want their corner of the word to blow up. Do they? Contact your Republicans..they're beginning to turn..swamp 'em.

Well we don't want 'em HERE!
[Read the article: Blackwater or black hole?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Decider will decide that Blackwater will stay. Who does this guy think he is, an elected Iraqi leader?
As a commenter in HuffPo said: "Oh crap! We wanted to keep Blackwater over there so they wouldn't be killing us over here!"

MSM owned by MIC
[Read the article: Limitless wrongness]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As long as the MSM is owned by companies that make money on war we will forever have them telling us war is needed. The idea that an organization that makes engines for warplanes (GE, for example) is allowed to own major TV Networks and Universal Studios and all sorts of other communications vehicles..and also profit from war..is insane. The media conglomerates must be broken up.

nuthun better to do eh?
[Read the article: Number of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]With all the important things they are supposed to be doing (like bringing the troops HOME NOW) they vote on this nonsense? Every Democrat who signed on to this crap should hear from her/his constituents that this sort of thing is not what they were elected to do. What toal garbage. If your senator is on this list let them know you don't approve of this vote. Petraus..the Colin Powell of his generation.

to stardragon
[Read the article: Number of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Edwards can't vote on this because he is not in the Senate.
