Campaign Finance Reform

"The Fed is one of those permanent power centers in this country that exert great power with very little accountability and almost no transparency (like much of the intelligence and defense community)." Yes, all three, The Fed and the intelligence and defense community must be accountable and transparent. However if we are going to put the Fed under the control of congress we'd better have campaign finance reform first. As long as our elected people are owned by the very very rich elites who control this country any sort of real accountablitly is not possible.

Original article: A letter to readers

Such a drag

We are with you. It is the old carrying on carrying on dance that we all have to do. Your dogs must know and they will help in their way as will your family and friends. Get as much rest as you can as you fight this thing. You'll get through it. We are with you.

Campaign Finance Reform

This country will continue to be owned and operated by the very very rich and the war/banking/health insurance biggies until we have serious campaign finance reform. Our elected people in Washington, (with the exception of perhaps 15 of them)are just plain owned by the lobbyists who pay for the politicians' TV ads. We could begin by stopping TV ads for issues and for politicians. Newpaper ads would be a boon the newpaper bisness and TV ads are too expensive forcing the politicians to sell themselves. We live now in an oligarchy, not a democracy. Probably we need a Constitutional Convention.

Original article: Lou Dobbs for president!

If Dobbs really is for public financing of elections

the the ruling oligarchy will smash him. He'll have to change his tune about lobbyists and corporate money in elections because this is the only game in town. Our entire Washington show is run by corporate lobbyists. They'll make him change views on this or he'll be toast. I like some of his views, but the birther thing is crazy and illegal immagrants are not the enemy of the working man. The control over our elected people by the ruling corporations is the enemy of the working person. Maybe Lou will figure that out.

Kucinich has been right all along

He was correct about why we went into Iraq, and many of us agreed with him. And he has been correct about everything else. Why don't we elect Kucinich President? Kucinich and Bernie Sanders have not been purchased and therefore are not afraid to speak the truth.

move to where your job is

If you like your job and it pays well then why not consider moving to the neighborhood of your job? Every five months or so I rent a car. I've noticed that almost everyone drives over the speed limit. I try to stay with the flow of traffic. The speed limit is is irrelevant..just go with the same speed most of the people are traveling and keep a safe distance behind them. It's safer than sticking to the speed limit. However if someone is tailgating me I always slow down, slowly, and allow that person to pass. Sometimes I even pull over to let the person pass. But really you should move close to your job and walk to work.

Holder is disappointing

I expected more of him. What about the investigation of torture? WE hear nothing about this. I think Nadler is exactly right on this and it is vital that the executive branch can not be its own judge. We can't administer justice, determine whose claims of perscution are valid, if we can't address the case! I am glad that Nadler is my congressman. I never have to contact him except to say "thanks".

Once a player...

You are probably right that he is running around. Cary is probably also right that the whole mortality thing is creeping him out. I do wonder why you are doing the clothes and the cooking and the housekeeping. This drudgery should be shared, especially if you are working full time. Actually since you are dealing with cancer treatments and working HE should do the drudgery.

Start looking for another job

This goon probably knows he's annoying you. In fact that may well be why he is doing this. I would not give him the satisfaction of saying anything at all. In the meantime try not to indicate that you've even heard him. Before you leave this law firm see if you can get your office moved (because the converstional noise is distracting). The very best way to handle these types is to ignore them completely. You never know, he may be trying to woo you. Some idiot guys are like that. And find another job.

Politico is suspect

They seem to represent the ruling oligarchs. Maybe Bloomberg is one but maybe not. He does not take any money from anybody and I think he has done as good a job as anyone could given the circumstances in this city. I've had disagreements with his policies but basically the city is safe and clean. Weiner (I think he's a hero) should stay in the House (or maybe some day the Senate) We need his voice there.

a dumb angry woman

Palin here seems enraged and spiteful. She'll shove her lord down our throats if it kills her or us. this portrait is of a simple minded angry cowgirl and her helpmate, Ms. Vincent. Trouble is, in economic times like ours, this sort of angry simple mind appeals to people with no control over their own lives. Scary shit.
