  • What a contrast

[Read the article: "Symphony of Bullets"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Watching this Hometown Baghdad episode after watching Fatass Rove and His Media Whores yukking it up really points up the obscenity of these people and how cavalierly they treat the lives, hopes and dreams of innocent people.

  • Even the Chief Justice...

[Read the article: The Bush administration's terrible luck with finding documents]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Not sure if this has already been covered here, but I ran across this item in the April 13th Chicago Tribune:

"Before [Chief Justice John Roberts'] nomination to the Supreme Court in 2005, his 2-decade-old file on affirmative action went missing from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif. Democrats called for an investigation, and the National Archives inspector general's office looked into the matter, eventially reporting that it 'was unable to determine whether the missing file was taken intentionally, unintentionally or lost."

I don't have a lot of confidence that this Supreme Court will rein in this administration.

  • Where are they getting their news?

[Read the article: The warped reality of our media stars]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Like another poster, I keep wondering what sources people are using to form their opinions. If most people read/watch only the MSM, it would seem they wouldn't have enough information to "strongly oppose" Bush and Iraq in such overwhelming numbers. I would love to see Glenn look into this. Not enough people watch the "Daily Show" to create this response.

I might have to give people credit for some deep thinking over time, where they have been absorbing the bad news despite the MSM's efforts to hide it, and have come to some deeply held conclusions that won't fall apart at the next fake Red Alert. After the 2000, 2002 and 2004 elections, I had given up on my fellow Americans, but maybe it really does take this long...

  • Sorry to pile on, but...

[Read the article: Rapist No. 1 action figure]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...I saw Grindhouse and I thought it was great. Both parts of the movie had strong women characters who prevailed over men in a big way, including "Rapist No. 1." This movie is sort of an homage to 70s exploitation movies but both directors seem to love women a lot and made their characters strong and invincible!

  • Our opponents?

    [Read the article: Government, politicized]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Dana says: "I would just remind you that I know that our opponents for years have tried -- have misconstrued that speech." "Our opponents"???

It's very disturbing to me that the President's spokesperson thinks it's OK to call his critics his opponents. While I know that it's true they all think that way, I guess I thought the few people there who know how to use words and can speak and think in complete sentences would know how wrong it is to call us that when they represent all of us. You have opponents in a war, or maybe a political campaign.

  • I still like it...

[Read the article: "Anger. Pain. Death. Madness"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I LIKE Hometown Baghdad... I know I could just go to their website and watch it, but I've liked Video Dog since it started because it was my filter on Web videos. I agree the pickings have been pretty slim here lately. Maybe they've been overly worried about copyright violations?

  • Tsunami photo

[Read the article: Storm over "penis" in Va. Tech shooting photo]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I remember after the tsunami a few years ago seeing giant color picture on the front page of my "family" newspaper: It was an overhead shot of a huge pile of dead bodies, in various states of dress. Fairly prominent in the photo was the body of a woman lying face up, her dress flapped open to reveal full frontal nudity.

I remember thinking at the time that our news media refused to show pictures of dead American soldiers in Iraq but never had a problem showing dead Iraqis. And in this picture, they had no problem showing a naked dead tsunami victim from another brown people's country. Trust me, no one complained.

This false prudery among American media and their many stupid viewers/readers is disgusting.

  • Loyalty

[Read the article: Will Justice probe block Gonzales aide's testimony?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

So this is what Gonzales does to his loyal pawn Goodling. Not surprising to me, but I'm sure she's very surprised... poor little Christian cheerleader.

  • Short flights

[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I have no evidence except my own experience, but the shorter regional flights seem better by nearly every measure. For example, I've flown from O'Hare to Greenville, SC on United Express (Mesa) twice recently, and all legs of those flights were on time. There were no hassles on the ground and service in the air was good. I've had more problems with regular business flights to and from O'Hare and LaGuardia on United and American - mainly supposed weather-related delays and poor communication.

So I agree with other posters that it seems unfair to blame the regional jets. Recent articles in mainstream papers have noted the almost criminal downsizing by the major airlines in their efforts to keep prices low and turn a profit. I want well paid employees--and plenty of them--attending to my safety, and I'm willing to pay much more for it. Yes, even 4x!

  • Dems should follow suit

[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think Rudy's answer was right on. As someone in the Bible said (maybe it was Jesus): don't pray in public, pray in the closet (obviously paraphrasing).

I wish the Democratic candidates would do the same. Their faith is between them and their god. We can judge their morality by their actions. It's embarrassing watching Hillary, Obama and Edwards fall all over themselves trying to "out-Christian" the others.

  • Repugs attacked an active soldier...

[Read the article: One-sided rules of political debate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Will Roberts... you wondered if our repuglican friends would attack an active duty soldier. Wish I could find a link, but do you remember a few years back, Rumsfeld was visiting a base in Iraq, and a young soldier asked him why they had to scrounge for body armor and armor for their vehicles? I recall the right wing echo chamber going after that poor schmuck. Would be great if Glenn or someone could dig that one up right about now!
