I am old enough to have served in Nam with WWII and Korean vets. Those WWII guys a short time after WWII begin risking their lives to feed West Berlin. This country sent expertise and man power to Japan to help them back on their feet.

We are not a fault free nation. We are a well intended nation. So when someone says god damn America he is damming me and if he is an American, himself. If he thinks that the United States causes all its problems he is talking about me and him causing all the problems. He can not have it both ways, being part of the United States when it comes to enjoying a wonderful standard of living and then separating himself as if he is above making mistakes.

No one in the United States gets exactly what they vote for. What we get is the opportunity to make our society the best it can be, sometimes in spite of our personal preferences. Those are the sentiments I joined the Navy with. I was and am willing to die so this guy can spew his venom. I am not proud to be associated with such hate. I believe we get more of what we pay attention to. If we want cooperation we need to pay attention to efforts that move towards cooperation. Cooperation is learning to compromise. There are no historical examples of society learning to get along better by verbally poking each other in the eye.

Mr Obama talks of being a uniter, this might be a good time to step up to the plate. To know and not to have done is not to know yet.
