As a gun-owning, deer-hunting progressive I have to take antacids every time I read or hear Ted Nugent expounding on anything. His 'whack 'em & stack 'em' philosophy of hunting reinforces every negative stereotype nonhunters have about the activity and portrays any gun use as something only neanderthols would do. All the articles he writes for the outdoor and gun publications (not the typical progressive avenues I grant you) proclaim his love for God, country, and killing in the first paragraph or two. He's preaching to the crowd for the most part; one editorial by a longtime outdoor writer stated that if journalists hadn't been allowed in Iraq the war would already have been won.
I would hope that my fellow hunters would realize what a embarrassing idiot he is but most swallow it hook, line, and bullet. If George Bush can pass himself off as a common man-of-the-people an aging has-been can reinvent himself as the Nimrod of neocons.
His soon-to-be-released album, Love Grenade, pictures a naked and bound girl on a platter as the cover. Now THAT'S family values.
Dubya could wake up, hear Jesus tell him to bomb, and it's off to the races! His head may tell him to play good cop/bad copy but his 'destiny/legacy/evangelical' soul may tell him to start the Apocalypse.
There can't be any outcry from Jewish groups criticizing the neocons for using the 'H' word! The neocons are essential for the pogrom against the Arabs and such words are fuel for the fire.
That the people who've suffered so greatly over so many centuries would join forces with those who would use them only to further their own militaristic agendas is sad. That the names of those forces that tried to exterminate them is appropriated for common jingoism is beyond forgiveness.
Enjoyed the spots and can think of a lot of people I'd like to hear you talk with. I'd like to hear interviews with some bloggers and how they do their jobs: receive info, deal with feedback, challenges they face, etc.
"The university culture at Columbia and Harvard through which Obama passed has been drenched in a reflexive anti-Americanism for several decades. Armchair blame-America-first leftism is the default mode. Disdain for the military is rampant, and conservative voices are rarely heard."
Dr. Paglia, why are you wasting your time at Salon when you could be cohosting a show on Fox with Fred Barnes?
His state should schedule the recall for the middle of November.
If you hear from anyone who is certain the end is nighh tell them there is a place they can go:
http://alaskamigration.blogspot.com/
This web site is for:
"The purpose of the Alaska migration blog is to encourage White Nationalist Americans, Canadians, and others from around the world to migrate to Alaska in large numbers, become the predominant group, and secede from the United States. We believe that we can only secure an existence for our people and a future for white children by forming our own nation in the northern world."
And don't let the door hit you in the, well, you know.
That story got almost as much traction as the Rev. Wright meme. Derided by McCain as an 'old, washed-up terrorist' Professor Ayers is a noted theorist in elementary education and has spent his life as an activist on social issues. Mostly known only for his work with the Weather Underground which he later admitted had gone too far in its use of violence (mainly bombings) he nonetheless stated he wished he had done more to stop the war in Vietnam.
Refusing to comment on his alleged connections to Senator Obama during the campaign he penned an editorial for the NY Times explaining his relationship to the candidate. This was little noted by other media although they'll probably bring up Ayer's name sooner or later when it might suit their arguments of unAmerican-type connections of the President.
What passes for journalism in major outlets is really a type of celebrity-driven pop culture coverage based on talking points set up by partisan parties of all persuasions and interests.
Years ago a good friend originally from Mexico told me he hoped to live long enough to see PRI defeated in Mexico. I hope to live long enough to see the United States criticize Israel and withhold our annual payments to them over Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.
That's not an anti-Semitic statement; many Jews within Israel want peace and a two-state settlement although they are shouted down by the ultra Orthodox (who don't serve in the military).
Yes, I realize the effects of Hamas' rockets and the hundreds of tunnels to Egypt. The Likud wants only a Carthaginian peace with the Palestinians forced into a diaspora away from Gaza.
Most of the troubles in the Middle East have been caused by actions taken by European and American governments with Israel only becoming a factor in the past six decades. Today Israel's actionis are the greatest threat to peace in the region and the U.S. can no longer blindly let them run roughshod over their neighbors and original citizens.
The second world war was fought to end such behavior (and Israel can't claim they are immune from such comparisons) and people worldwide are tired of genocide that is happening now.
