  • Sock it to me?

[Read the article: Michaels denies "SNL" is pro-Clinton]

Never underestimate the power of a popular sketch comedy show.

That said, why the hell is anyone still watching SNL. I have caught the occasional sketch on YouTube (generally the ones that are considered "good" enough to go viral) and have actually yelled at the computer screen. The show is AWFUL. The humor is stale and pointless. The alleged satire is about as sharp a Nerf ball and considerably less subtle than the nuanced social commentary of the Three Stooges.

  • Coattails are a euphemism. . .

[Read the article: Which Democratic candidate has the longest coattails?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

. . . for voter turnout. People all too rarely pick and choose for each candidate, and new voters almost never do. They pull the Democratic or Republican lever and have done with it. So it is not so much a matter of who would be more helpful on the campaign trail as much as who would make a better figurehead for the party.

Would people be quicker to get out to the polls to pull the Obama and Friends or the Clinton and Co. lever?

With this in mind, I think Obama would be better for down-ticket candidates for exactly the reasons described in the article: young voters, disenfranchised black voters, guilt-ridden white liberals (just kdding, folks), and left-leaning sideline sitters are coming out for Obama.

Hillary, on the other hand, will bring conservatives and right-wingers out in droves. Her openly vitriolic style (as opposed to Obama's more passive aggressive assaults) will repel the snap-judgement crowd.

So yeah, having swung back and forth on this thing, I've decided to pull the Obama lever on April 22nd. The straw that broke the camel's back on this was a dinner with friends (slight left centrists who are opposed to the war and concerned about wire-tapping, the "patriot" act and oher constitutional offences). My friends actually whipped out the ridiculous "If Hillary gets the nod, I'll vote for McCain" line.

    I was positively gobsmacked.

I explained at great length why McCain is a dangerous sociopath who will lead us into continued warfare on a global scale while devastating our economy and guaranteeing a post apocalyptic wasteland for our children, and she has since changed her views.

Still, the fact that I even needed to have that conversation has rattled me to my core.

  • Wow . . .

[Read the article: Bush "envious" of U.S. troops in Afghanistan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Will this be the straw that finally prompts a massive contingent of military brass to speak out against this lunatic? This is genuinely insulting to anyone who has served in a warzone; especially coming from a "man" with W's credentials.

I can't help but think that the idiot child-emperor is playing with fire.

  • Carville believes in hardball

[Read the article: Carville wants resignation cease-fire]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It is not that Carville doesn't want the candidates to fight back against attacks. He just thinks the demand for resignations is foolish. Which it is.

If it's baseless and ridiculous, then shoot down the attack on its own. If your opponent has a loose cannon on board who's spouting all sorts of crazy shit, then let them spout. I for one have no problem with facing an opposition made up entirely of nutters.

The difference is that I would just expose them as nutters. This resignation stuff is nonsense and will not fly in the general election.

  • Wha?

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton, sniper fire and Sinbad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Something Sinbad said made me laugh? Has the world gone topsy turvy?!!?!?
