At the risk of oversimplifying, it is an open secret in the queer community that Whitney's real problem is that she gave up the love of her life for her career. When you sacrifice an authentic self for fame and fortune, a crack habit is probably one of the more effective ways to numb the misery.

She is an astounding talent and she's either going to die or recover completely. I don't hold out for her coming out of the closet. But who knows? I do expect her to get clean, come back with a vengeance and give a big grand fuck you to all the gawkers and rubber neckers who reported her demise.

This is useless and offers false comfort. The Republicans are going to steal this election in every district they haven't gerrymandered. You are focusing on the wrong story.

Kamiya gets the cart before the horse. David Chase's creation is a brainchild of the Clinton era. With no clue as to how to lead, The Bushies appropriated David Chase's scripts as blueprints for government by thuggery. Geroge Bush owes a great debt to Mr. Chase.

    Gary,

Has it ever occurred to you that "the myth of eternal American innocence" is the power driving the Obama juggernaut? My read of the folks caught up in Obamamania is that they are looking for a savior to wash them clean. They can pretend that they have not been tainted with the stain of living and thriving in a war mongering nation by getting behind the anti-war candidate. He promises absolution but he cannot deliver it. We are all responsible for the acts of our government whether we were opposed from the start or not. We live here. We're Americans. We are war mongers, murderers, and torturers.
