Original article: What makes a woman?

What's the difference between a woman athlete who is full of male hormones by nature and one who is by choice?

Nothing.

Both of them have an unfair advantage over other women who compete.

Caster should be able to keep her medals, but shouldn't be able to compete in future competitions (assuming the tests reveal she has elevated male hormone levels).

I know it sucks and it isn't her fault, but too bad.

are you sure?

They have done a good job of raising the rabble and at taking pot shots at everything the Dems do but...

They have proffered zero ideas of their own. This mess is their making, they don't know how to get out of it and they would likely make it worse.

The average American, while more conservative than the average Salon reader is not a part the GOP's rabble, yet.

your friends are jerks

Several of my friends have children, all boys incidentally. However, I cannot imagine giving anyone a hard time because they had a girl.

I for one look forward to having a daughter (I am a man) and would prefer one to a son.

sad

i have to wait until xmas to get it.

Thursday, November 12, 2009 07:10 AM

insurance

every vet should get tricare for life, especially ones who served in warzones.

Currently the VA only treats health problems that arose from time in the military which is often very hard to prove.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 10:39 PM

which begs the question

why do people hate Obama so much?

They guy have been president for 10 months yet these people act like he is the worst president ever. I try to understand it but I just can't.

It's ridiculous, I can understand why people on the left aren't too happy with Obama, but people on the right? He's such a moderate, what is it exactly that they hate so much?

Monday, November 9, 2009 07:49 AM

Kucinich?!

Now that is someone who I would not have expected to vote against the bill.

Saturday, November 7, 2009 09:20 AM

I would screen Christians

from any assignment that involved nuclear weapons.

Putting someone charge of an ICBM who thinks that they will only be saved by doomsday seems like a rather poor decision.

Friday, November 6, 2009 10:40 AM

what "real" feminists want will never happen

as long as there are hormones that is.

Wednesday, November 4, 2009 10:35 AM

Wait

Haven't we already established that this guy is an idiot.

Wednesday, November 4, 2009 06:03 AM

Why no mention of Ref 71?

After Maine, that was the biggest pro LGB issue on the ballot, and it looks like it passed.

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 08:53 AM

@T.B.

I went to a school next to Cornell and ended up taking a few classes at CU.

Here is what I learned, the people there are not especially brilliant, they just have connections to America's aristocracy. The Ivy league is higher education for them Them, the rest of us are to go to other schools.

sounds like the wild ravings

of a malnourished individual.

At least this explains her emaciated appearance.

Joe's main concern

That if we have national healthcare we will no longer be able to bankroll foreign wars.

And if we can't do that then how can we stop the enemies of Israel?

WWNLD

What Would Ned Lamont Do?

Is a question the voters of Connecticut should be asking themselves right now.

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 12:19 PM

Yank his committee assignments

since Joe has dropped all pretense of being a democrat kick him out of the caucus.

hmm...

is that why I have been feeling tired lately?

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 07:18 AM

I don't think it's just a conservative thing.

The Air America affiliate here in Seattle advertises gold investing all the time.

Friday, October 16, 2009 07:51 AM

drop the word "theory" it's misleading.

one either acknowledges the fact of evolution or they do not acknowledge the fact evolution.

Either way evolution is not dependent on your acknowledgment, it is not a faith based system.

@yojimbo_7

Sorry,

I have to take his side. What you stated about men who like Asian women being the worst people ever, etc is completely asinine and non sequitur. How the hell does being attracted to Asian women make you want to dominate and kill them, or whatever other nonsense you sputtered?

What you posted has to be among the stupidest things I have ever seen on this site.

Thursday, October 15, 2009 05:13 PM

seriously...

What the hell does this have to do with anything?

Anytime some guy is in the news you have to start attacking him for not being a feminist?

What he said was not misogynistic BTW. Ignorant, stupid, inappropriate, perhaps yes, not misogynistic.

Now might be a good time to discuss your misanthropy.

Thursday, October 15, 2009 01:45 PM

Correction!

I meant rule 11 not rule 9.

Thursday, October 15, 2009 12:43 PM

LOL

I'm in law school and we just learned about Rule 9. What a great example!

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 11:10 PM

the downside of progress

fought so hard to get into the work place only to find that it sucks.

And with a women's ability to be financially independent more than few men were happy to let to them do all the child rearing.

Monday, October 12, 2009 11:15 AM

no kidding,

he's an entertainer

Friday, October 9, 2009 01:24 PM

Silly? Yes.

But this is the exact same tactic that the Republicans have been using against the Dems for the past 8+ years.

The Republicans are just getting a taste of their own medicine.

Wednesday, October 7, 2009 05:42 PM

That's a nice thought

but people have been referred to by the occupations for ages.

Where do you think most of our last names come from?

Original article: Eat the weeds

Seattle? Really?

Seattle is an agricultural eden? That's news to me.

Second of all to the many would be foragers out there: if you are picking weeds in an urban environment they may be covered with herbicides.

Original article: Why do women have sex?

TCF - good god! Are that hard pressed for ideas?

Seriously, you are becoming very predictable.

Regardless I am going to assume that you never took a biology class.

All living things are programed to eat, breath, and screw. That's why we do it, because our DNA tells us too, there's no difference between man and woman, we both get the same message.

Sometimes the culture screws it up a little that's all.

Sunday, October 4, 2009 07:29 PM

@Tommy777

Obama's difficulties are definitely self inflicted when it comes to liberals, they expected a liberal in the Oval Office, not a centrist.

Given that Obama is a centrist there is nothing that is self-inflicted with the hatred that comes from the Right.

They are racist, delusional, and in some cases downright psychotic.

Sunday, October 4, 2009 07:26 PM

The right wing is back!

And full of more hate.

Just think, now the have a black man to go after; no holds barred!

I have one word to describe the right wing sentiment towards Obama "confederate".

Saturday, October 3, 2009 12:25 AM
Original article: Who are "the deciders"?

what's your point dave?

The military is always subordinate to civilian decision making.

Sometimes the civilians make the better decisions and sometimes the military does. Whatever the result is it is always blessed off by a civilian.
