Original article: Palin disappoints her fans

thank you, Fuego

For taking on RR. But it's thankless; he or she simply never addresses the point. "Debt" my ass. If I have a state that can tax oil gushers for every man, woman and child, and yet play hard-ass budget games with real people, how the hell am I gonna have any debt? Maybe RR should read about how poorer Alaskans fare under their wonderful governor.

Dear H.P.:

Move to a cave and eat roots. The rest of us still give a shit about reality.

@Curtis 39:

You're wrong: EVERYONE is making fun of Republicans.

Original article: Watching Republicans grieve

great title ... sounds like fun!

But if anyone should be grieving, it's our entire country after being dragged through the wringer by these soulless power-driven lunatics. Eighty years of failure capped by the last eight. Will we ever be done with them?

nobody whines like wingnuts

Stop, Alexandra ... you're making me cry here 'on the coast.' Obama won Indiana and Colorado and Wisconsin and Ohio on his way to a romp. Screw these 'the media ignores us' jackasses. They have an entire goddamn network devoted to their political buffoonery not to mention the toxic likes of Limbaugh, Hannity and the rest. All opinions aren't of equal value, since only one side is actually reality-based. We need to be laughing at these people, not trying to convince ourselves they have a 'point.' No, they don't.

excuse me for hogging comments, but ...

Alexandra, are on glue? "There are some things that they see that make them uncomfortable. And I think we have to respect that and understand that. Not say, 'Oh, they're just extremists. Oh, they're just freaks. Oh, they're just racists.' They're not."

Next graf:

"(Calling Obama the Antichrist) was much more common than you'd think." And: "You have to take the woman who "went home and cried last night because I just lost my 401K." And she's at a freaking McCain-Palin rally??? THESE PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS.

Original article: Obama signs stimulus

thanks, dresden08

For taking on these jackasses. They got the 'four days' and 'no one could read the bill' nonsense straight from GOP Central; they're required to mindlessly pass it on, or Rush will make them send back their decoder badges 'n' stuff. I love hearing these wizards fulminate and fume! As Obama's approval goes up, Congressional GOP ratings circle the fetid drain and the economy recovers (as it always does under Democrats) we can only await the greatness of 2010 and 2012.

I despise this woman and feel for her daughter

'You want this joy'? She is sickening human trash and the fact that she almost had federal power should make Elephantman and Reader-Reader and the rest of the GOP half-wits who post here hang their heads in shame.

@C-Jennifer: you are full of shit

" ... raked over the coals in the national media a few months ago for making the decision to keep her baby ..." Where? When? By whom?

Dear Poco and Sleeping Dog: spare us

Dog, you would have taken the same deal the strippers did. Poco? You're just a tool. The BANKS shouldn't have made loans to the poor risks. But they gambled, and then sold their bets to the next bank, and so on, and so on, and so on. But yeah ... it's the buyers' fault. I'm sure the lenders were all truthful on every detail, and after all, no one ever tells Americans that home ownership is the holy grail. Give us a fucking break with your self-proclaimed honor and integrity. I pay my mortgage too, and with all due respect, it doesn't help me one bit if my block fills up with foreclosures, even if I can feel all moral and superior like you.

Thursday, February 19, 2009 01:28 PM

@rockstar: 'three cheers'?

"Santelli spoke passionately for those of us that don't believe in promoting and subsidizing bad behavior." Irony isn't just dead ... Republicans and rock-ribbed moralists murdered it, fed its body through a wood-chipper and burned the remains. These Wall Street TARP-enriched assholes are bitching about tax dollars rewarding bad behavior? Are you at all serious, or auditioning for The Onion?

Who kicked your dog, Glenn?

Lots of words here, but really, who cares? Emanuel is right about Krugman and no amount of whining will change it. If you think Obama could have gotten over a trillion bucks if he had only asked for a trillion-and-a-half, you are orbiting Pluto. I know you have to have your daily fix of Obama-bashing, but this is bullshit. And had Hillary passed the same bill, Krugman would be kissing her ass.

@mjgott: guess again

New ABC/Wash Post poll: "While Obama has encountered near unanimous GOP opposition to his stimulus plan in Congress and widespread criticism for a housing bailout plan some critics say rewards people who have been fiscally irresponsible, 64 percent of those polled back the economic recovery package and the same percentage backs the mortgage proposal. Overall, 60 percent of poll respondents approve of how he is dealing with the economy." Reality sucks, doesn't it?

Monday, February 23, 2009 09:37 PM

Here's more, Mjgott:

AP poll ... you asked for it:

Job Approval - Economy

Obama: 68% Approve, 27% Disapprove

Democrats in Congress: 49% approve, 45 percent disapprove

Republicans in Congress: 33% approve, 59% disapprove.

Oooh, that's gotta sting!

Monday, February 23, 2009 09:49 PM

@Joan

I like to cite the numbers when challenged. The disconnect between the Beltway Villagers and reality always irks me, but here at least we can all add our two cents ...

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 10:29 PM

jerzee: 9000?

I heard there were 472,529!

You guys truly have nothing. NOTHING.

@Joe in Austin:

Who says they're racists? Opportunistic, hypocritical, soulless ideologues, yes. Jindal wants to turn down a whopping two percent of the seven billion coming to his benighted state, so he can look like a hero to your rapidly dwindling band of true wingnut believers. The rest of the billions he'll take, because he knows damn well the state needs it and it will work, and he can (1) take credit for the improvement while (2) taking credit for being a 'tough fiscal conservative' (in between exorcisms). Just in general I have to add: if tax cuts are the magic formula the GOP keeps telling us, why did the economy limp along and job creation abjectly suck under Bush, after his $1.3 trillion giveaway to millionaires and corporations? And how did the country ever have economic growth with the 60-70-80 percent top rates in the 1950s and '60s? Shouldn't it have been impossible?
