The premise of this article is dumb, but ...

After 15 years using PCs, I switched to a Mac last year and it was the best decision I've ever made. They have the most stable OS married with a larger array of consumer apps than any Linux or other Unix system.

My Mac is a pleasure to use, and does 97% of what I needed from Windows. Until I can get off of every Windows app, I run it using Parallels.

Windows is a bloated, inferior operating system with all the wrong attitudes about everything, including the way it considers me a criminal until I can prove that I bought it and have a key.

If you're looking for a consumer-level computer that has a lot of power, why not give an operating system a chance that has been developed by universities to really work well?

Why should Biden worry about seeming to bully Palin?

If this debate were between McCain vs. Hillary, the idea of bullying the woman wouldn't ever be discussed.

What is she doing to do if he "bullies" her? Cry? She's running for Vice President (and actually President) for god's sake. If she can't handle verbal bullying then she's not fit to be President.

The whole discussion is sexist.

Of course this is news

This isn't sexist coverage about a woman candidate's clothing. It's about an illegal use of campaign funds, and a hypocritical use of expensive clothing by a self-proclaimed "hockey mom."

Thank you!

... for trying to bring the focus back to the one thing that matters: torture is against the law. Conservatives are always talking about how we are a nation of laws. If that is the case, it's time for prosecutions, because there are those in the Bush administration who broke the law.

David Frum's specious talking point that "we need to know whether or not it worked" has nothing to do with the issue. However, if the neoconservative apologists for torture would like us to know that it worked at least on one occasion, would they really like us to know how many times it was used to no avail? Or used against an innocent detainee?

This is not a slippery slope of reasoning; our legal standing on torture been clear and well-thought-out and codified since Nuremberg.

Now that you have your bone, Mr. Geidner, please trot off to bury it.

Glad you're happy with the crumbs Obama is tossing us, but I'm not. Making a big deal about giving some partial Federal benefits, not even the good ones, that will expire at the end of his term? Trying to convince us that the DOJ was forced to compare our relationships to incestuous ones?

Give me a break. This administration, along with the Democratic congress, have about a year or so to make hay of their election for the LGBT community. After that, just try getting a dime out of me and most of my friends.

America's "conservatives" are not conservative, they are something else

I'm sorry, but there are plenty of US conservatives who understand the fact of global warming. They do not belong to the Republican Party, however, because that party is run by theocratic ideologues who could possibly be called fascists. They just call themselves Conservatives.

And for those here to blather the Fox News talking point/mantra that it's the liberals who spend, spend, spend: it's the Bush administration who started a hugely-expensive war against a country who didn't attack us, who erased the Clinton administration's budget surplus, and who grew the government in leaps and bounds to make it the largest one in history. All without making sure the revenue was in place first before spending it. Of course, that might have been called "conservative."

Consumer Xmas

While I'm glad that there's someone expressing these sentiments, I certainly wouldn't buy a book to explain to me something that has been obvious for decades.

For me, the best way to make it through the holiday season is to have pleasant times with friends and relatives, and pretty much ignore the whole gift exchange thing, and hope others will do the same in regard to me.

It's been working well for 25 years.
