Lucinda Rosenfeld doesn't know what friendship is

Judging from Rosenfeld's portfolio, I'm not too sure she knows what friendship is or have ever had friends who won't dump her during emergency situations. I have friends I would race to at 4am if something bad happened to them. I would drive or fly over to them because my friends have been with me through thick and thin and I consider them a part of my heart. I know they would do the same for me in the same situation. Having a true friend is one of the best things in life to have and I feel sorry for Rosenfeld that it sounds like she's never had that. Oh, my friends and I have had adventures, but nothing that has ever resulted in a trip to the emergency room every single weekend. I question what on Earth Rosenfeld was doing in order to have that result be common for her. I've only been to the ER twice in my life due to health problems (nothing alcohol, club, or roofie related) and both times my friends were there with me when I walked in and walked out. Many of them did not want to leave me until they were concrete sure I was already. Rosenfeld's reaction to the LW is callous, ignorant, stupid, and just mean. How on Earth can an advice columnist on a woman friendly website not know what a roofie is for? How on Earth can an advice columnist be so callous toward a woman who looks to be in real trouble? I'm sorry, but if what the LW has gone through is so desensitizing to Rosenfeld, I would seriously question All of her advice. No wonder I hardly ever look at Double X anymore. I think I'll stick with Salon and Jezebel for my woman friendly sites.

La Planéte Sauvage

I definitely agree with Fantastic Planet for this list. While the animation is just so beautiful for its time (1972), the content is very dark. The first scene with the mother and baby is just disturbing , not to mention the aliens. Those eyes are SCARY. It took me awhile to get the image out of my mind and I'm 29 years old. Also, I think if the list could be extended, a lot of the film choices would be Miyazaki's work. Nausicaa and Princess Mononoke could be very violent and dark at times. Although I wouldn't hesitate recommending them as they are all very good films.

She'll be around till the end of time

However, I still have a right to my opinion which includes telling people who love her to go f**k themselves till the end of time too. Palin Supporters = Fail.

Let the implosion begin

There were articles around how the Teabaggers are stopping a GOP comeback because they were revolting over other Republican candidates running for re-election this year. Oh I remember August like it was yesterday and how the Republicans were excited by all of this teabagger fun! Ha! I love it when the tables turn and the monsters turn on their own creators. Newt as a liberal? Um, I'm not sure I want him with us, but alright Red State idiots.

I'll go with Mr. Holmes on this

By calling Land an asshole...

...it's not my intent to actually call him an asshole. And I apologize to those who took it that way. Assholes.

-- Mr. Holmes

By calling Land a f**knut, it's not my intent to call him a f**knut. And I apologize to those who took it that way. But Land is indeed a f**knut and his followers are f**knuts.

Happy Friday!

Love,

Utena

Weak

Seriously? I read the article, but I'm not buying it. Lucinda's

"apology" of "if you don't like it, don't read it" was enough for me. I guess Lucinda does indeed have friends with two people in the entire world defend her. I refuse to read her column and I find Double X boring and dated compared to websites like Jezebel.

Lucinda's defenders = fail.

Book Non-recommendations

Ever since conservatives and republicans have embraced Ayn Rand, I've had no interest in reading her work at all. Besides it's not like those of us on the other side have a lack of excellent authors and intellectuals supporting our work (you know since Colleges are super liberal and all). Sorry, no Rand for me.

Cool Recommendations

Looks like I'll be shopping for some DVDs later on. I've seen two already, "Disco" and "Audition" and enjoyed both of them. I'm surprised "Audition" made it into the list as I never expected more than horror buffs to recommended it (love horror!). Yes, Takaski Miike is definitely one of the grandfathers when it comes to the torture porn genre so that should be a warning to those interested in watching his movie. It's not too gory until you get to the last half-hour to fifteen minutes which all the anticipation amounts to. And it just builds and builds throughout the entire movie (watch out for that big bag that moves by itself in our villainess's apartment!). Indeed, middle-aged men looking for a young thing to have an affair with should beware as age and gender doesn't equal power.

Ack

All they need is Liz Cheney to round out the ghastly threesome and give her endorsement.

-- saintzak

Oh good lord, saintzak! I wanted to vomit from the image of that threesome. Of course, the lovely right wingnutzoids love their old, stretched out pu**y.

Gordon, laugh it up

Sarah Palin is a viable, valid candidate in a world where lunatics like John McCain can still walk the streets. Someone evil like Grover Norquist has but to tap into the you-betcha soccer mom element and you'll be saying "President Palin". Scary as that sounds. Don't assume that it cannot happen, no matter how badly Sarah screws up (link to turkey slaughter interview).

-- Gordon Wagner

Seriously, you Palin supporters are funny. Just get into a circle jerk and spread your love on your queen.

Another reason...

Why just don't like conservatives anymore. You aren't funny and if you try to, it looks stupid and moronic. Derbyshire and his book and people who support him = Fail.
