Phony

Joe the Plumber (damn, can anyone imagine being remembered that by that name for the rest of their lives?) who really isn't a plumber, has been on welfare twice (against spreading the wealth, Joe?), and well...hasn't really done anything aside from promoting McCain and himself is running over John McCain. A person would think that the McCain would be the last person he would put under the bus, but he did. It just goes to show where his true feelings are and his comment about Sarah Palin as the real deal proves it. The guy is a broke phony who can't work anywhere else and is just trying to make a buck off the last 2 minutes of fame. That book ought to be an interesting read, but I have Obama's books that I want to read next. And those look like they are worth the money. Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin can fade into obscurity for all I care. They deserve each other.

Claps

The pick of Steven Chu as Energy secretary is very impressive. Just look at that resume! It's also very comforting since he's an actual physicist/scientist who can quite possibly help make the US less oil dependent as well as more environmentally friendly. Chu is a breath of fresh air and Obama should welcome more scientists into his administration. No doubt they would be appreciated after eight years of oppression against any kind of science.

High tech youth is high tech stupid

While I am glad that young people have become more confident and curious about their own sexuality and wanting to be open and comfortable in their own relationships, the use of online electronics and the internet as tool to enhance that relationship is not the best idea in the world. The idea of "private internet space" is a complete oxymoron. Aside of paid online security services, I have yet to see any website be hacker proof. But perhaps the biggest mistake that younger people do is load pictures like this to a MySpace, Facebook, or any other personal blog. This is the biggest threat to actually finding some kind of employment. Thanks to the recession, employers are going to be going checks on future employees and that includes looking at candidate's blogs. I highly doubt any serious employers is going to hire anyone with their nude and/or sexual pictures located right on the front page. If a person doesn't take themselves seriously, why should any employer take them seriously? I'm 28 and as someone who works in employee recruitment at a company, I do checks like that. Seeing someone's tits and ass doesn't really help me want to hire that person. And in this economic turmoil, I'd rather hire someone who won't do something stupid to risk the reputation of the company I work for. Perhaps if they want to do something in the adult industry or professional nude modeling then the nude pictures are fine. Young people should be more aware of the world around them when it comes to be tech-savvy. The world is a much smaller place than they think it is.

thalightguy & something stinks

Sore losers. Why didn't you guys bring this up before the election? What's the point of voiding 52 million votes? The Supreme Court didn't even want to argue with you guys. Do you guys have a suggestion for president? You both are pathetic. I'm partying with those 4 million people.

Here we go again

And it's pretty obvious the Republicans and right wing nutjobs are going to squeeze every ounce of scandal they can get out of the birth certificate crapapalooza and the Blago scandal. Honestly, both groups are pathetic and they are disgusting for trying cover the country in scandal when we could use some actual help. We have serious problems. I've lost count of how many companies are laying off people in the news. The economy is still in a s**thole. We are still at war and if the secretary of defense has his way, we are going to be in Iraq for some decades. So we can kiss troop withdrawal goodbye. The Republican party and right wing-nut jobs are nothing but sore losers trying to find anything they can to bring Obama down, when Obama is actually trying to help the country. These people put themselves first, not the country. They are selfish and lowlife. They only put the country first when they are in the position of power. They think only themselves right and correct and everyone else is a mistake. With all due respect, these people can kiss my lovely ass.

Gort still rules

I don't know why anyone wanted to remake The Day the Earth Stood Still. Even my brothers (both in their 20s) thought the original black and white version was a cool and essential piece of great science fiction cinema for it's time. This new one looks ruined by CG. Although I have to say that I do like the look of the new Gort. That big lug of a robot is exactly what the old Gort would look like in CG. Almost an exact replica...except he's about the size of a building now. Gort is probably the best thing about this new movie.

Original article: Lionizing the shoe thrower

Huh? Doesn't deserve it?

I have to disagree with Thomas that the shoe thrower will reflect a positive image on Bush. Most of the people around me have reacted the same way as most of the posters here. They are upset that the shoe thrower had crappy aim and missed Bush. So far, I have yet to talk or to hear from anyone who draws any kind of sympathy for President Scrub. If anything, Bush doesn't deserve having shoes thrown at him as his only way of punishment. Including me, I would love to see Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Rove, and all of their chronies in the Hague going on trial for war crimes. Unfortunately, I don't think that will ever happen. It's hard to make up good things for Bush's legacy when there is so much blood on him and his administration.
