Original article: Why Palin still matters

Dawdler is spot on

The anti-intellectualism, religious fundamentalism and jingoism that got Bush re-elected did not just disappear. It's a sleeping monster. The economy is just more salient right now.

-- dawdler

It is f**king scary how many people like her because of her ignorance and lack of intelligence alone. That's because her supporters who think that way associate intelligence with elitism. "She's just like me" as her supporters say. It is disgusting to think of how on Earth that connection is made, but classism is showing it's ugly head and is exploited. So normal people are ignorant and stupid while those well off are intelligent? Who wouldn't want to be more intelligent? Who wouldn't want to go to an Ivy League? Wouldn't anyone want their child to go to college and get a college degree? I'm 28, still strive to learn, and still go to college classes. Even with two college degrees including a Masters. I like to learn and most definitely defend myself as a well informed voter and citizen. It is insulting to think a woman like Palin was so close to becoming my president. It just goes to show how desperate the Republican party was to win instead of sticking to their roots and rallying around the causes of their party. I hope we all learn from this whole Palin debacle and take steps to bring the best people we can possibly bring to be our leaders. In the meantime, let her overexpose herself. She has nothing new to say and soon people will be switching channels in order to ease their boredom. As Darwin wrote "Survival of the fittest." With no change, she won't survive the Political landscape.

Original article: Why Palin still matters

Oh yeah

Andrew Sullivan's article rocks. I'll be reading this to my Republican friends soon enough.

Yes!

So it looks like we won't be seeing too much of Uncle Ted anytime soon. (Happy Birthday Uncle Ted, your box of wires and cables with the internet stuffed in it is your present!) And it looks like we might be saved from Sarah Palin being senator. But of course, it won't be surprising if there is a recount and Palin forces taxpayer money to do it. God told her to do it after all! But for now, savor...

Agh...that DVD and that cross

Oh no! It looks like it's too late for me. I'm in NYC and clearly the AFA has given up on my town. Gasp! Pray for me as the homosexual agenda is out and proud here in the Big Apple. Keep it up AFA! As Rob Wiggle of the Daily Show said on his bus tour of "Fake" America, all of them escape those small towns and stay with us here. And we gladly welcome them as part of our big melting pot known as NYC.

Honestly, that Xmas cross looks way, way, way too much like a KKK burning cross. No way in hell that is going in my yard. I'll stick to Santa and Frosty.

I prefer Feliz Navidad

The Christian right is going wild! First we have the priest of a church saying that America is going to hell because Obama was made president. His bible verses made no sense to the logistics of that connection. Now, we have Daniel Henninger saying that our economy is in the crapper because we can't say Merry Christmas? Huh? That article made no sense and didn't convince me of anything. So everyone should say Merry Christmas until the economy is back up? What happens after the holidays are over? Someone is trying way too hard to find a cause to the crisis and instead of going to economics and business or even history, he goes into a bigoted statement instead that fires up culture wars. Mr. Henninger, that was a waste of brain power and paper. Baby Jesus is not happy!

@ Road Warrior

You said war... not any more! Not with the new Obama action happneing. the liberal illuminati have us thinking all wars in the world will end under Obama. Just use a different word.

And the bottom line is that we need our capitalism to continue and with things going the way they are it's just a hard time.

I like Turkey, but I think I'm passing on it this year

Most gruesome press announcement ever. Still, I have to give her credit. She consistently reminds me that I made an excellent choice in voting for Obama earlier this month. Now let us pray for those poor turkeys. Amen.

Joke is on you Uncle Monty

Let's see...Obama won the election so he's in the White House and he's getting his cabinet ready to try to dig us out of this economic hellhole. While Palin is talking useless rhetoric and contradicting herself while animals get killed behind her. Perhaps a lot of people are disconnected to the land (hey I live in NYC, I'm far from land in "real" America as Palin says)but you're still going to have to live under Obama's presidency and administration. Jokes on you, darling.

@serafin

Wow, you make Republicans and conservatives looks like absolute crazy nutjobs if you were their representative. Us Liberals might keep our mouth shut, but perhaps we are quiet because maybe Obama may be doing the actual right things. On the other hand, I have a feeling your head will explode before the end of the next four years so chill, take an aspirin, go yoga, or get laid (highly recommended).

Original article: Cheap oil's victims

Don't forget Palin

Sarah Palin's Alaska is most definitely doing to be hit by cheap oil. Alaska's budget will not longer be a surplus and will lose a lot of money, so they'll feel the crunch like the rest of us. I feel for the people of Alaska (despite their choices of a dimwit governor and convicted felon former senator) as well as Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. It will be those citizens that will be hit the hardest. I do not feel one centimeter of sympathy or any emotion for Chavez, Putin, Ahmadinejad, or Palin. Those individuals lifestyle and lively hood will probably not change one bit in the times of economic crisis while the rest of the country suffers.
