King Kong

Great article Joan! The Salon staff and you have written great articles regarding Palin and what going on underneath all of the rhetoric that her supporters say. I like the articles about what goes on behind the scenes because I'm fascinated about the doubting force that is supposed to promote her, but finds flaws within themselves about her. So I'm not surprised that when the shit hits the fan, the Brutus characters come out to stab their Caesar. I'm glad these articles come out as well because it scares me that early voters are voting for McCain just because "they like her." It's as simple as that. They just like her. And I want to scream at these people who are supposed to be making logical decisions when they vote (even the McCain supporters who vote for him because of tax breaks get more of my respect). It doesn't make any sense to me, but it shows how much of a force she can be. That kind of force was used before for George W. Bush.

Also, please don't insult the beloved king of giant monsters, Godzilla. Referring him to Palin is an insult when Godzilla is beloved by one and all. Godzilla had no choice when radioactive slime fell on his original form that made him huge and gave him powers. Palin did have a choice. If any monsters should be made about Palin, it's King Kong. The metaphor is clear. A group of circus performers wanted an act that would shout to the world and so they dragged an untamed animal from the wilderness into modern society. The people loved King Kong and the circus performers got lots of money and attention. Then we all know what happens after that.

Obama is much more handsome

Sorry, Todd Palin is not hot. He doesn't do anything for me at all. If we are going only on the looks of men, Obama slams them all to the ground. Tall, lean, elegant face, and husky voice, the man is so handsome and definitely much easier to look at. Take all of his handsome looks and add intelligence, grace, understanding, patience, an open mind, and a Harvard education to boot. Michelle Obama is so lucky!

@ American Eyes

Ha! Having equal time and having public financing? You sound like a socialist. By the way, I thought the six figures spent on Sarah Palin was a joke too.

@ Doug

WTF? I actually read that thing and it still doesn't make sense.

Oh dear Lord

Obama already has my vote and this is making me proud of my decision. This is why I support a man who taught freaking Constitutional Law. So we can correctly interpret the Constitution even if it's the most simplest of amendments. I'm not in law or politics and the 1st amendment is crystal clear to me. Palin is continuing to demonstrate how uninformed and how low intelligence she has when it comes to the rules of law and probably even checks and balances. Like I write in some of my earlier posts, she is her own worst enemy. The more she talks and the most "rogue" she goes, the most she puts her foot in her mouth. I'm in disbelief of people who continue to support her based on things she has said and in her past projects as governor. Perhaps it's in their own self-interests, but it's not for the country. Palin maybe biting off more than she can chew.

It's almost over

Great predictions, Glenn. I've been reading a lot of the predictions from the other news sources as well and the outpouring toward Obama is amazing. I'm happy, but at the same time, I'm knocking on wood hoping that all of this good news for Obama isn't jinxing him. I made sure my vote is out so I've done all I could. I'm getting my mind and body ready just in case McCain wins and the feeling of sadness I felt when W. won in the last eight years. I'm hoping I don't have to go into mourning mode and say that the American public are fucking idiots....for the third time. The anxiety I'm feeling is overwhelming and I'll be sleeping on election night and hope that the morning comes with a promise for the better. By the way, I completely agree on all of the catch phrases that need to retire after this. I really don't care to hear about Joe the Plumber or Hockey moms for the rest of my life. May all of those catch phrases rest in peace.

:(

I can't imagine the amount of emotion Obama is feeling. He must be overwhelmed times ten. My prayers and thoughts go out to him and his family during this emotional time.

Yay Salon!

Thanks to Joan, the War Room team, the Broadsheet team, the How the World Works team, and rest of the writers and staff of Salon for providing some thrilling and great articles regarding this long journey known as the presidential election of 2008. I couldn't wait for this day to come and consider myself a fully informed voter ready to defend my vote for my candidate (a big thank you to Salon of course!). I'm in New Jersey and was one of the first in line to vote! The outpouring of voters is amazing! I hope Salon will always be around for years to come when the next elections come around. Now I just have to calm my nerves down and see what tonight brings. I'm taking some of Andrew's suggestions from his Beyond the Multiplex article today on some good suspense/thriller movies. Hopefully that will get the anxiety our of me. And yes I agree that Basic Instinct, past all of the sex, is actually a damn scary movie.
