WT - whattup with Trent Franks (I'm still watching CSPAN)?

He really believes we need to be ready to shoot down those ballistic missiles from Iran.

Too much time in the sun?

Oh, and it just breaks his heart to see "certain members" in Congress just hate to sell out for political partisanship.

Wow. He's just so.....so....earnest.

CSPAN must've edited that out...

I think I even saw him tear a podling's head off and suck its essence out from its neck. The repeated standing of the Republicans in attendance was actually them jumping up to catch the headless, lifeless bodies of the podlings Cheney threw their way.

but it sure makes sense. I'm probably projecting with the cattle prod theory since I'd dearly love to hear them yell, in unison, "Don't prod me bro!".

Congressional Republicans must be fed Cheney's leavings or they get restless and stop mating.

Ok, the vodka's gone, so I can't even begin to go here.

Whoops!

"certain members" in Congress just hate to sell out for political partisanship.

Please remove the words "just hate to". Fingers moving faster than brain. Or vicee versee.

psst, Jebbie - pedinska@yahoo.com . I think Glenn's too busy right now. Understandable.

Dubya's cheeks - Time for Cocktailhag to pass out the "Ewwww!" award!

What is it about those guys from CT and their fascination with W's cheeks?

We should be thankful that the blackmail pics aren't public. Different cheeks, DYK.

I hope the pundits are hemorrhaging.

Thanks for the links.

WT - I feel your pain. After all, I'm in Ohio. ;->

Pete Sessions (TX) just trumped AZ

When asked how he felt listening to "the last SOTU from a president from Texas" said, "Well, the last SOTU from this President from Texas. There will be another President from Texas."

Sherrie and Anonymust

The nitrous oxide here is of the very best quality. Truly.

I'm still laughing at DCLaw's pod critters.

And amen to Dodd unravelling this massive mess. Keep tugging on that yarn! Mark Twain couldn't come up with a bigger yarn than the one Bush has shoved down our throats.

It's not all that inconsistent with Spector's prior behavior.

He knows those amendments are going to go down in flames. I think he had one on the table himself (too much SOTU gaming to remember clearly), so he was just reminding his own side not to step on his toes. Same dance as Harry essentially.

For someone who's been doing this tango for so many years, McConnell sure showed his two left feet on this one.

Liked the feather thing. I think it would have added some much needed ambience.

Time to go visit the feathers in my own pillow now. 'Night all.

I'm sorry if I left the impression that I thought of Dubya as a Texan. I do not. I was just quoting Pete Sessions, who should be pitied as delusional. ;->

Molly Ivins was a saint and sharper than a brand spankin' new razor blade. Her voice is acutely missed during these times.

Sysprog - how about Sneerin' Atchoo World?

I have also been clinging to the hope that SCOTUS would draw a line with regard to subordinating their own power. I think that may be one reason why, even though they've managed to stack that deck in their favor like so many others, the admin hasn't been chomping at the bit to have their actions scrutinized there.

It actually makes me chuckle to imagine what Scalia might pepper Bush with were he to actually try that gambit. It wouldn't be pretty, and I can almost guarantee it wouldn't be printable in polite publications either.

Not fit for the compost pile

Cocktailhag, believe me, much of the humor from last night probably wouldn't have been there if we'd had to do without your SOTU game. ;->

Seriously, though, there are just some things that shouldn't go into the compost pile. This particular Bush would be one. He's rotting for sure, but he'd just make it stink and it wouldn't be fit for any flower beds I tend.

Did your legal team indemnify you against hangovers?

Dirigo - I read the book

His great-granddaddy ran Buckeye Steel here in Columbus.

One notable landmark located in Marble Cliff, scarcely known outside of central Ohio, is the Bush mansion. This structure was built with stone quarried from the nearby Marble Cliff Quarry Co., and was once a residence of local industrialist and U.S. Senator Samuel Prescott Bush—grandfather and great-grandfather of U.S. Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush respectively. The Bush mansion itself was sold and converted to non-residential use, most recently as group home for the elderly.

H.W. used to visit the place, back when he was prez. I lived on the route they took and watched more than one cavalcade pass my house.

WT re: Ann Richards

Thank you WT. Another phenomenal Texan.

Maybe what we should be looking for from Texas is another smart, spicy woman? ;->

Absolutely, but with drink recipes.

I spotted them more by accident than design. They never publicized the routes beforehand, but I knew they were in town and who else would be in a half dozen black stretch limousines with a huge police escort?

I wished I'd had enoug forewarning to strew the road with tacks. It would have been the least I could do. ;->

Dirigo

one story that's been around quite a while has it that a Bush great grand daddy, a Prescott I guess, brought Geronimo's bones back from the Plains and installed them in the Bones' "tomb" in New Haven.

Reminds me of primitive cultures that eat the hearts and 'nads of their enemies in the hopes of ingesting their, aherm, more admirable qualities.

Arne

Admirable quality? Courage in battle and death.

Primitive societies didn't necessarily disdain their enemies the way the Bushcos do. There was often a great deal of respect extended, just not while they were flinging whatever passed for weapons at the time.

Yes, I knew about Bush and Cheney's "scalps". Disgusting.
