We must be on similar wavelengths today. I had "authorimonian" in mind. It could also be spelled "authorimoanian" if one wanted to give extra emphasis to the whingeing aspect of these folks.

Not sure I have enough vodka in the house for all the pom-tinis that are going to be required...

You forgot newkewlar. ;->

CSPAN

just mentioned that republicans were considering a 7 day extension to the PAA. How could they do that? Glenn, your explanation made a lot of sense to me. Can you see how they could squeeze this extension through in the time left?

Saved by the alcohol?

all but the most hardened alcoholics should expect to tip over after about eleven minutes.

And that's a bad thing how?

This may be one of the few times where worshipping the porcelain god comes before the overconsumption...

Absolutely DCLaw1

Like a witch's spell, the virulent strain must be imprisoned within a word, then shrunken and pinioned to a mere inch in the Devil's Dictionary of forsaken history.

Well said. I wish I could write half as well as you when you are inspired like this. A shame it's festering pustules like Chambliss and Cornyn and their ilk who are creating needs like this.

We should get Anonymust and some of the Chocolate Interrobangers in on this. They have much better talent in wordsmithing than I. Hopefully they'll wander by soon.

More wriggling than a bucket full of nightcrawlers,

The only way I can see is if the House is on board with the compromise and votes a 7-day extension tomorrow.

and more ups and downs than the rollercoaster from hell.

So then, if I'm following correctly, a seven day extension would be better than nothing because it would allow us more time to work the phones, faxes etc to maintain pressure. But it will still allow Bush to peddle his lies about dem obstruction of his wishlist tonight in the SOTU.

Thus far I have been concentrating my local efforts on lambasting Voinovich and praising Brown, but it's starting to look like I need to pull on the waders and begin a slog into Tiberi's swamp now. Ick.

Can someone remind me of the House bill number so I can check to see where the mossy tracks of his vote lead? I'm pretty sure I know but he occasionally surprises me... and occasionally pigs fly....if they're small and you heave hard enough.

Started the game early...

Pulled up CSPAN on my computer and had to hit the bottle early when I found Rudy speechifying on his "big ideas", "big accomplishments"....he sure has him one "big" obsession with size.

Not "roster" B,

"rostrum". One definition of which is

a: the beak, snout, or proboscis of any of various insects or arachnids b: the often spinelike anterior median prolongation of the carapace of a crustacean (as a crayfish or lobster)

Sherrie

Then again, I like my dentist and he actually is interested in helping me.

And he gives you novocaine so you won't feel the pain. Fortunately, the populace has stopped being susceptible to the novocain Bush peddles.

He just said "the Constitution means what it says"

Keep the faith. Did you see the look on his face when the Dem side of the aisle broke into applause at that line? It's the little unexpected gifts like that one that keep me watching.

SOTU - fleeting observations spiced with a liberal dash of snark

How can Pelosi not choke on that intro?

Oh, hahaha, a tax joke.

We should "seriously" debate earmarks, publicly, but not telecomm immunity.

Interesting to watch Cheney and Pelosi's hands - when they appluad and how enthusiastically. Cheney looks like he's flapping about two dead fish. How fitting.

A standing O for a ban on cloning? From both sides of the aisle??!!

Are there buzzers, or small cattle prods in the Repub seats? It can't possibly be spontaneous....it is interesting (at this point) to speculate on what the different "rise rates" might be due to - varying tolerances to the electric current? Different thicknesses in derrier calluses??

Or are they keying in on Cheney's upper lip? He lifts it in a sneer (the one that masquerades as a smile) and they pop up out of their chairs?

Oh, NOLA caught everyone by surprise (me too)!

I wonder what Pelosi's reading? B thinks it's her H.S. yearbook. Small school.

STFD (Sit the Fark Down).

Freedom for Iraq and Iran (whether or not they want our version of it), but not for Palestinians. So much for "freedom".

Why is Pelosi applauding threats against Iran???

FISA comments commence and, apparently, the cattle prods are breaching colons on the repub side of the aisle. They're practically levitating now.

"Change conditions that create resentment" - duh.

Ok, I can get behind more money for AIDS initiatives, but they will be attached to abstinence and massive denials of reproductive rights to women in third world countries. In short, they will wreak their misogynistic revenge on those who can least afford it.

Ok. Time for some chugging.....

Yes, that's torture

But we still have another year to survive of hearing that man's excruciatingly irritating voice.

But I'm more visual. It's that smarmy little smirk that makes me want to jump up and slap the screen. Thank goodness I don't have Bystander's shotgun.

it's more like nitrous oxide

Good point. My roots have been throbbing since the man announced he was running.

John W re: Spector's substitution. Yes. Spector's song and dance routine became transparent years ago. That amendment would halt actions just as effectively as total immunity. The admin's response to judicial subpeonas would be exactly the same as their response to Congressional ones.

Anonymust

Well, yes, but the screen is as close as any of us are going to ever get.....actually, to be honest, I was thinking more along the lines of a strong right cross....
