Did I write reputable?

No, you didn't and I actually intended to remove the quotation marks but got interrupted when posting and neglected to do so. Having said that, you as much as admitted that your first post could have been read that way when you wrote this to Kitt:

I will concede your point for now; he's not a journalist.

Hugh Hewitt, Dave Rivkin and Chuck Todd have all had a shot at Glenn. Can you tell us whether or not they qualify per your standards and, if not, why not? I missed where you addressed that.

I am one who believes one should be willing to make one's case before critics.

Fair enough. And if you had been reading here for longer than just the past month, you would know that he does it all the time here in his comment section, unlike a lot of others you might consider more "worthwhile". That should tell you that he would have no qualms about doing the same in a public forum.

"Are you related to a joke?" you ask. Again your gratuitous insults are not impressive.

You misread and misquoted me. I asked if you were related to Joke, as in Joe Klein, sometimes known around these parts as Joke Line. And I was asking in all seriousness. Because instead of wasting time here wondering about Glenn's creds you might want to go spend some time at Fox, and elsewhere, asking them more legitimate questions about why they haven't yet asked Glenn to appear on their "Fair and Balanced" network's shows.

Any program that would ask Greenwald tough questions would be worthwhile.

I agree because I believe that Glenn's been wearing big boy pants longer than most on the right have been fantasizing about merely owning a pair.

Where we might disagree is about what constitutes a "tough question" and whether or not what you consider to be "tough questions" necessarily exemplifies a desire on the part of the questioner to hear a truthful answer.

Little doubt O'Reilly (Fox News) whether you like him or not, would be a good venue, a credible venue for Greenwald. Would Glenn Greenwald be willing to be interviewed by a hard-hitting, no nonsense journalist or does he prefer soft-ball questions from sympathetic reporters?

I have yet to see Glenn shrink from interviews that have been requested by "journalists" on the right. If I am, recalling correctly, and he can correct me if I'm not, he had a pretty productive conversation with Hewitt. So, I think his reaction would be, to borrow a phrase, "Bring it on!"

Unfortunately, it appears to date that those invitations haven't been extended. I wonder why.

Are you related to Joke? Maybe you could get him to make a few calls and pull on a couple of those "credibility strings" he's been hoarding. You know, the ones Glenn's been shredding lately. Because I would dearly love to see him ftf with Loofah Bill and anyone else your ilk consider "reputable".

An email I received today:

Dear Pedinska,

As reported by most of the major papers yesterday, Attorney General Eric Holder will appoint a prosecutor to examine nearly a dozen cases in which CIA interrogators and contractors may have violated anti-torture laws.

It's a step in the right the direction, but just a step nonetheless. The investigation looks to be very limited in scope. What about accountability for top Bush administration officials who authorized illegal policies (and then tried to cover them up)?

Congress needs to take bold action to make sure members of the last administration, as well as current and future officials, are held accountable if they operate outside of the law. The only way to prevent the same abuse from occurring in to future is to make sure past misdeeds are punished.

H.R. 104 is a bill by Rep. John Conyers that would establish a commission to ensure accountability for past abuses and protect civil liberties moving forward. It is one of the most comprehensive proposals to date and would strengthen checks and balances.

Part of People For's Campaign to Restore Justice is to secure passage of H.R. 104.

When Congress gets back at the beginning of next month, we hope to have petition signatures from at least 25,000 activists to use in our lobbying efforts as we try to move this bill. Right now we are almost there, just shy of 20,000.

Please help put us over the top by signing on to the petition right now.

Thank you for standing up for checks and balances.

Glenn on Democracy Now

Good stuff though the video interruptions couldn't have come at a worse moment, disrupting as they did some of your most important points about the lack of oversight and the ACLU and human rights groups' roles in bringing torture into the light of day.

Also a shame that timing didn't allow you to complete your statement on the media's distortion of the health care debate.

Looking forward to more appearances like this one.

Northwestwoods & PI

Having a gardening bent ('inclination' as well as, at times, a literal one from excessive weeding), one of the more interesting things about the Pinguisibi Trail is that, about two thirds of the way along the flora changes as if a light switch were thrown. You go from the pine and birch forests of the coastal, Superior-influenced region, to more temperate plants. It was quite striking.

The change in flora was emphasized by a change in the character of the Sand River as well at that point, when it switched from the rugged, tumbling falls seen nearer the lake to a more placid stream. It would be an incredible river to canoe and/or 'yak, and many do, but the portages can be killers.

PI - careful. Flagging wingnuts for unbearable stupidity can easily become a full time job. There's lots of unpaid overtime and the benefits, in general, are non-existent or just plain suck. ;-}
