Can you post the web address of Che's blog? Somehow I missed it in the threads I've been able to read over the holiday break.
Thanks.
Nevermind. I forgot about linking in one's sig. I found it and am avidly devouring. ;->
I have an ongoing battle regarding the "liberalism" of the press with a couple of aquaintances who are RWAs. So, while it was wretchingly difficult to read these, I am also thankful that you pulled together some prime ammunition for me.
Both the quantity and quality of the rebuttals I get have declined severely since I've started sharing your columns with these self-deluders. They may just be giving up in disgust, since they really have very little to fight back with, but I like to fantasize that there may be hope that they are coming around to a new perspective and just can't bring themselves to admit it. ;->
Being kept alive is nice as far as it goes, if you happen to be a paramecium.
LOL! It also applies to lapdogs, although they also like being hand-fed, as Glenn so aptly shows. Would that they were as noticeable as parameciums.
Why do people sell a soul for a banana?
Much better to grow a banana for your soul.
Works for me anyways.
"If a man screams in the woods and his wife doesn't hear him, is he still wrong"?
Of course he is. He'll just be spared the argument. ;->
For once he unwittingly chose a word well. Accidental wisdom, indeed.
A monkey with a microphone instead of a typewriter. And re: smirks, I often wondered if anyone besides me was counting the number of times his face or body language betrayed him. No matter the subject matter, there is always a moment where he comes across like a frat boy talking about the latest, greatest panty raid.
It took alot of guts (more than I have) to go out there campaigning day after day, when you know 100% that they are gunning for you.
She knew that & still soldiered on. That's one tough lady.
Indeed. When I first bought my house back in 1990, I had a young man who roomed with me who was her cousin. He was in the US attending law school. We had long discussions about what it meant to be from a prominent political family in Pakistan. Every member of their extended family was a potential target for assasination, so they all lived in armed compounds and never went anywhere without seriously armed guards. He used to marvel at the fact that dogs are kept as pets here in the US. At home they were just another weapon used to keep the humans safe.
He predicted that Benazir would die violently. It was not something he desired, it was simply understood that this was a potential price to be paid for democracy. These conversations were instrumental in awakening my own political awareness.
Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan with the almost certain knowledge that she would not survive. She made the ultimate sacrifice for democracy. How many of us would/could do that?
Or in the case of Bebop, how two very individualistic Pedinska cats treat him.
Yes, the animals always know. We could learn a lot from them too.
That was striking! It makes me wonder if he is still abusing drugs and alcohol. That would also explain such a decline.
The attitude behind the smirks has always been there, he just didn't have the giveaway ticks back then. Makes me sick to realize that he won the governorship of Texas by (in part) promoting a War on Children.
All is well on the gender front in UT. The respect here is as palpable as it is lacking in many parts of RWA-la land.
Perhaps you've not read my post yet wherein a member of her family told me that they were all considered potential political targets of assasination. It was her family's political actions that made her a target, not the fact that she was a female.
I think all rulers back then, and even now, must make security a priority given the sheer number of angry and mentally ill people in the world. The biggest difference between then and now are the weapons chosen to carry out the deed.
It was, indeed, a unique experience to talk with this young man about the realities of living in a muslim society. His family was very supportive of Ms. Bhutto's political efforts - something Shooter would find odd since he thinks that all Muslims keep their women locked up in harems where they can be mistreated at will.
Word to Shooter: misogyny is alive and well today in the good ol' (boy) U.S. of A.
