The man insists it will all be swell in the end, when "withdrawal" will be possible - "climactic" you might say.
You forgot the quotes around "swell".
Some please alert the nearest Armed Forces Recruiter about this
The College Republicans at the University of Massachusetts are hosting an event called "All I am Saying is Give War a Chance." It is devoted to the "costs, necessities, consequences, and benefits of war."
I'm not kidding.
L.W.M. - this might be an idea for some Dick Tuck sorta mischief. I might just have to see if I can find an email address for a military recruiter in the area. Anyone know if UMass allows them on campus?
Fib bibs, anyone?

They need whole-body rubber suits.
If only we could get them to stop swallowing in the first place....
Especially if you picture Pelosi standing there in a dress and apron with that frozen grimace of hers.
I doubt if Jonah would have enough courage to actually harangue you, but if you go, then count me among the 'represented' as well.
I watched the youtube Jim posted upthread. I'd seen it before. It just boggles the mind that those are real college students and that it's not just some satirical scripted event. You have to wonder what the admissions criteria are these days.
You'll offer some Enzite, they'll hear "Incite", and will go flailing off on another blind and witless rah-rah chorus.
It really just makes me want to shake my head....
Rule of thumb: If you're out somewhere and you see Max Blumenthal and his cameraman sneaking in, you should immediately leave and never come back. And think long and hard about why you were there in the first place.
But if you're there as part of the opposition, then you should stick around and enjoy the fireworks. ;->
Blumenthal does the kind of creative oppo-insurgent thing that we can get behind. Nothing that gets us too close to that 'slippery slope' that was all the rage in last night's thread. ;->
(BTW, hats off to the participants in that discussion. Lots to cogitate about there. All of it greatly appreciated.)
Well said. Both of you.
Not sure if you'll see this. The thread has dwindled now that Glenn has a new post.
I'm doing better, if a bit shaky. I don't think it was the whine, although that certainly didn't help. Never had a 48 hour hangover complete with fever and chills. ;->
Thanks for the presents and the wonderful company. Richard finally had someone who understood him completely, and that's just priceless.
7) Rely on the impenetrable credulity and desperate wishes of the punditry to transform such desperate and ultimately futile gestures into "success."
7 a) and then turn it into a political non-story as soon as possible thereafter.
CNN was parroting the "nobody cares about Iraq anymore" story tonight as well. Pffft!
B - typing with your toes is hell on your pedicure. ;->
Haven't we already seen this movie?
Yes. And it should bomb even more spectacularly this time around. As anyone who has been disappointed by sequels knows regurgitated trash is, well, regurgitated trash.
Especially if it was trash in the first place.
and both the pedi- and mani- are overdue for a cure.
Chipped polish is my life since I've found Glenn's community. I suffer gladly. ;->
even the slightly less compromised outlets in the press include a subordinate clause when describing the latest carnage or debacle
I had wondered if it was just me, or if this not-so-subliminal (anti)messaging was patently on the increase. This has driven me absolutely raving mad on occasion.
Does it pop up like a spell check alert when they report what they see with their own eyes?
Gak! Just got a visual of that offensive little microsoft paper clip that pops up and wiggles his eyebrows at you.
Let me echo Bebop in offering my sympathy for your, and the cedar waxwing's, loss.
Last year Ohio State decided to tear down the old Ohio Union in order to build a bigger, more updated facility. In order to accomplish this goal, they had to also tear down one of the oldest and largest trees anywhere on campus.
I happened to be walking past that day as they struggled to knock down this mighty tree. It was a terrible battle to witness. The tree put up a tremendous fight.
I swear I heard it scream as it finally fell to earth. I was sad for weeks after.
Why are humans so quick to destroy? Ancient things of beauty and majesty, things that represent collective human and natural wisdom, seem to be valueless to (some of) us. Yet wars are fought over power and wealth, such meaningless things.
Destruction is far easier than construction.
All the more reason to respect and preserve then, at least in my mind.
The truly wise man knows that you don't see no hearses with luggage racks.
Yet dead men have children who live longer than they and inherit whatever they choose to leave behind.
It's all so terribly short-sighted.
Oh, you've popped up at just the right time. I was getting all melancholy over Che's tree and now you've got me laughing, which is tough too because I've been sick now for three days. The plum wine and whine probably didn't help, but I think it's the flu that's had me down so long.
How does poor Richard find the time to talk a sensible language around you?
What makes you think he does? ;->
there is a beautiful mountain cliff where we can drink white wine and whine.
We look forward to it very much. Pinches accomplished. We're glad you had a good time.
