Shooter's psyche revealed (again)

I would take a cue from lessons given on how to beat one's wife.

Why, with loving kindness and a huge dose of irony, of course! Here's a site you would probably find edifying Shooter:

http://christiandomesticdiscipline.com/Home.html

A Christian Domestic Discipline marriage is one that is set up according to Biblical standards; the husband is the authority in the household. The wife is submissive to her husband as is fit in the Lord ...He has the authority to spank his wife for punishment... CDD is so much more than just spanking. It is the husband loving the wife enough to guide and teach her, and the wife loving the husband enough to follow his leadership. A Christian marriage embodies true romance and a Christian man a true hero.

Word: It's frikkin' twaddle, no matter who's religion is preaching it.

to reach the levels of Government where policy is made, requires a character disorder.

Pretty much sums up the entire Bush maladministration, although I suspect psychological disorders factor in there as well.

Killing people in the name of God is not something that can be sweet-talked out of a person's mind with a couple of trips to the counselor.

I suspect that applies to killing people in the name of corporatocracy as well, not to mention the religious lunatics in this country who believe that killing in the name of God will hasten the Rapture.

One would be better of not saying anything at all, than revealing irrelevance.

WT beat me to this one.

Friedman script - US to Iraq: "Suck. On. This."

From Crooks and Liars

Thomas Friedman and Iraq: Suck on This!: UPDATED with Video

By: John Amato @ 10:20 AM - PST

Friedman: What they needed to see was American boys and girls going house to house, from Basra to Baghdad, um and basically saying, “Which part of this sentence don’t you understand?” You don’t think, you know we care about our open society, you think this bubble fantasy, we’re just gonna to let it grow? Well, Suck. On. This. That Charlie is what this war is about. We could of hit Saudi Arabia, it was part of that bubble. Could of hit Pakistan. We hit Iraq because we could.

Friedman has Serious, Serious issues.

Just practicing the vocabulary...

...to keep the wingnuts focused between elections. They're distracted right now by an unappealing slate of candidates, none of whom sufficiently channels ol' Ronnie, so Brian's just trying to keep them in the ballpark until the primaries are over. Then they can shift the language to the "Psst, Harold, call me" strategy where they really excel. In the meantime this is just a li'l sompin' sompin' to keep the juices flowing.

Zack

I posted my comment before reading yours at 4:42. You stated it so much better than I.

See, religion is under attack – even the “liberal” Chris Matthews said so. And marriage is under attack too – even the “liberal” Brian Williams said so.

The really sad thing about this is that the "liberal" take on religion is (for the most part) "live and let live". Now the right has created a self-fulfilling prophecy with their fictitious wars. They set the frame such that any protestation on our part, no matter how reasoned, just becomes another "attack".

So, for Matthews, scaring people with false attacks upon them is not only legitimate -- it is mandatory for political system to work, otherwise no one would vote.

And the fact that Matthews and Williams are such willing tools in this roundelay just proves their lack of liberal credentials.

@Jim White

the weddings that result in disintegrated marriages and wreckage left behind are a journalistic challenge: Trying to write a romantic, positive and compelling story while knowing both principals leave something of a wake behind them.

So, "marriage is under attack", but divorce amongst (straight) couples that leave "wreckage" behind (an interesting euphemism) are not "attacks" on the institution of marriage but rather "journalistic challenges". Of course if your marriage reaches the society pages then you are, by definition, a member of teh Village, so anything you do will never be an "attack" on marriage, at least as long as you are still demonstrably straight. David Vitter comes to mind.

Just what one would expect from a blog with the oxymoronic title "The Daily Nightly".

Shooter, I have a dot for you to connect...

In this case the h/t demonstrates that the Brian Williams clip originates with a GLBT site. Do I need to connect any more dots for you?

Just how did those nasty GLBT'ers get Brian to open his piehole and say such drivel in the first place?

Sysprog

Perhaps he's somehow exposed to "blue state" opinions while sitting in a car driving down a highway in a "blue state" on his way to his office in the GE building, which, itself, is sitting in the middle of a "blue state" miasma against which he must inoculate himself by frequent immersion in "The Weekly Standard".

Malaria was once thought to be caused by breathing 'bad air'. Let's call their affliction B.S.aria. A more subtle form of liberal attack, it's everywhere and one mustn't let one's guard down!

I think Rush gave birth to the FOX news channel. I think Rush helped to give birth to a movement.

Folks I talk to would have called this "defecation". (Sorry, I just couldn't let that one pass untouched)

Convenant Marriage - coming soon to a state near you!

If the wingnuts were serious about defending marriage, they'd make it harder to get divorced.

This is already a legal option in Louisiana, Arkansas and Arizona, with legislation pending in Oregon, Georgia, Texas and Oklahoma. And you don't even have to be a resident of one of these states to go there and get yourself an "upgrade" on your "regular" marriage.

The fact that so few of these mouthpieces to the Sanctity of Marriage are willing to avail themselves of this option speaks volumes to their hypocrisy.
