@ Jim Montague

"An announcement received on my email indicates that Abraham Foxman, head of the Anti-Defamation League, has been invited to Heritage Foundation on October 18 to deliver a “lecture” on “The Israeli Lobby and the Myth of Jewish Control.” I also learned that the eminent Mr. Foxman is coming to Heritage to refute the Mearsheimer-Walt critique of AIPAC. He believes this controversial text reflects a widespread “myth” about “Jewish control” in America, a figment that is generated, according to Foxman, by rampant Christian anti-Semitism."

Wow. They are in full-fledged damage control now, aren't they? This could be the next chapter in Glenn's "obsession", but I bet they screen attendees pretty carefully at Heritage.

The above quote reads an awful lot like ol' Win's script from a few days ago.

Whatever anonymous

But then the dictionary is a giant phallus written by white men, so I see your point.

I can speak for myself. You needn't put words in my mouth or try to translate for me.

Main Entry: 1prick

Pronunciation: 'prik

Function: noun

Etymology: Middle English prikke, from Old English prica; akin to Middle Dutch pric prick

1. A mark or shallow hole made by a pointed instrument

2. A pointed instrument or weapon b : a sharp projecting organ or part

3. An instance of pricking or the sensation of being pricked : as a : a nagging or sharp feeling of remorse, regret, or sorrow b : a slight sharply localized discomfort

4. Usually vulgar : PENIS

5. Usually vulgar : a spiteful or contemptible man often having some authority

Funny how both anatomical references seem to refer to men of doubtful character. It's always about you men....(sigh)

I guess that's why I prefer the gender-neutral scum. But if you're going to insist on using gender-specific insults, why don't you at least try to be creative and see if they can figure out the pejorative "fuzzy catkin". Then you can sit back, with crossed arms, and revel in your own smug intellectual superiority.

Tiny winkies

Emasculation is the problem which is the root of his blather.

This reminded me of the poster some time ago who, when confronted by a road-rager, would smile and say, "SSAYP". It stands for So Sorry About Your Penis.

Just brilliant (and terribly funny too).

Sounds good to me!

Perhaps we could agree on limp dick as an appropriate replacement for pussy. The former is accurately gender specific, and identifies the masculine fear which resides beneath the latter.

-- bystander

Not to mention emphasizing that Lowry's performance is, ahem, less than adequate, as Glenn has been pointing out about these guys for some time now.

Or as someone I know says, "Big Truck, Little Puck."

-- notre druide

That's good too. ;->

Apologies to Glenn, Jordan, Cocktailhag etc.

I'm getting back to the thread late so you may not even see this. I certainly didn't mean to hijack the thread with comments on gender slander. The only reason it came up is because every time Glenn calls one of these guys on their lack of credentials some idjit will chime in with, "Yeah, and they're a bunch of pussies too!" I think, as a community, we are much too creative to allow ourselves to slide into knee-jerk caveman rhetoric like this, even if "the dictionary says it's ok".

From now forward I shall refrain from addressing the cavemen, and their backwards vocabulary, among us. Promise. ;->

Kovie

A belated thanks for posting the Youtube segments with Foxman and Mearsheimer. Very educational. I wonder if Foxman is even aware of how pompous and bloviating he appeared?

The war has got to end. Love. The remedy.

We have a kaiko writer here as well. I wish more people were aware of Violet de Cristoforo's story and others like it. Surely that would make a difference.

Surely.

Ignatius' really long nose

Ignatius:

Key administration demand is retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies that agreed to help the government in what they thought was a legal program. That seems fair enough.

This is just outright lying and he has to know that. Otherwise, why did Qwest refuse to cooperate? These corporations employ herds of lawyers and, at the time of their violation, FISA was very straightforward in regard to this issue. There is just no way that they did not know that what they were doing was illegal.

The meek and accomodating telecoms

Oh, come on.

The telecoms were just following orders.

-- anonxmous

Um, yeah. Orders attached to huge motivators called "government contracts". ;->

I don't know if Qwest just hadn't been around long enough to reach the tipping point in terms of being held hostage to government revenue (bribery/blackmail), or if they just have a higher moral threshold for performing illegal activities. Either way, I'm glad they held out because it pointed a huge finger at the illegality of what was happening.

Natural immunity and pigs flying

Klein argues that they are naturally immune from legal recourse because they are protected under the umbrella of government sanction. And if they succeed in getting the Amnesty Clause passed into law- they will be, retroactively. The circularity of these tactics is as revolting as it is impressive.

-- Ktwdawg

As I was reading this it suddenly occurred to me that, if this tactic ends up being successful in this particular case, what is to keep the government from pursuing this course in other arenas to protect lawbreaking on the part of other corporate entities?

It's not much of a stretch, at least to me, to think that this may be the next iteration if this particular pig ends up flying. If that happens, I guarantee that Klein will be one of the first to tell us how beautiful it is to see these porcine wonders in full flight.
