Win

But every time Glenn or anyone else dismisses that yes, anti-Semitism also comes from our side of the aisle (as it will from any side of any aisle), you are doing exactly what you claim "no one here" is doing.

Win, there was a discussion within the last week wherein a regular commenter here was called out for the anti-semitic slant of her comments.

You see vehemence directed at Lieberman far beyond the anger directed at the numerous Christian wingnuts saying and advocating the exact same position.

The discussion here today has been about the ADL and you keep bringing Lieberman into it. Personally, I could care less about Lieberman's religious background. It is his legitimizing of the administration's agenda by posing as a "moderate" that totally sucks. And the Christian wingnuts come in for their fair share of criticism around here when they are the topic that is written about.

You are dismissing even the possibility that legitimate anti-Semitism exists in both criticisms of Lieberman, Israel or the proverbial "hidden Jewish influence" in, and you can pick your trope:

We have done no such thing. You are dismissing Glenn's legitimate criticism of the ADL as verging on anti-semitism and that is just non-sense.

Beth isn't the rest of us

bethincary proves everything I'm arguing. Here's the Jewish Zionist conspiracy on the left in its most overt terms:

Bethincary is one person on this blog. Where do you get off conflating her opinions to the rest of us? That is just insulting.

America is about to bomb Iran because of a republican movement that couldn't give a crap about Israel.

There is no one monolith that is promoting these wars. It is both the Republicans you mention above and also AIPAC, else why would they lobby Congress to do their bidding as has been noted in previous posts? There are many cohorts involved in this disastrous policy, including the religious rightwing armageddon crazies. Recognition and comdemnation of ALL of them is legitimate.

Claimig they're puppets of Israel is everything that makes up the grand Zionist conspiracy bullshit and led to so much tragedy over the past thousand years.

No one is claiming that (except maybe Beth - and I've already tried to clue you in to how we all jumped on that one earlier in the week). But saying that they are aiding and abetting and that they have convergent goals, if for very different reasons, has been labelled as rank anti-semitism by you. It's not. At least not from (most of) this group.

Thank you Paul R.

Behind this fallacy--as with all the others he uses--WinSmith is simply trying to make it impossible for anyone to say anything critical of Israel, or any of its supporters. He is trying to construct a series of hoops for people to jump through, and he's constructing those hoops as fast as people are willing to jump.

Not only that but he told us it's up to us to anticipate where he will place those hoops before we are allowed to jump.

I am still 8 pages of comments behind. I can't imagine how exhausted all of you must be by now if you are still arguing with this imagined stain upon our collective souls.

'Identity' arguments

You neglected to mention in your comment that you're a woman. Therefore, your womanhood is obviously completely unimportant to you and you don't identify as a woman at all.

I am guilty of not noting my blondeness. I've been blonde all my life, so it really doesn't have any 'importance' per se, it just is.

And beyond that, he keeps saying that if my Jewishness were central to my identity, that would somehow have some impact on whether my arguments were anti-semitic.

If my blondeness were central to my intelligence (as some 'humor' would have it), that would somehow have an impact on whether or not I can even argue.

All of this has now been reduced to the level of the painfully obvious and elementary fallacies. I realized that many pages ago and accordingly vowed to stop responding and I ought to have adhered to that.

I'm glad you didn't. And glad Mona jumped into the fray too. Good on ya both.

Pssht! Today was a piece of cake. Just skip past any of the redundant posts signed "WinSmith" and you'll be caught up in a trice. If you read the first one you read them all.

Then you'll have time to read the additional excellent example by apparent feminazi Jane Hamsher, recommended by AnnieW a few pages ago:

Yes, I see the wisdom in this. Just wish I'd seen it a long time ago. ;->

Ad nauseum...and I do mean NAUSEum.

I'm telling each of you that you have a responsibility to be aware of this.

Ok. I think it can be truthfully said, by this point in this thread, that your rant on this is fully understood. We would like you to acknlowlege that you have fully and completely 'educated' us on our 'responsibilities' in this regard.

That you could so completely misread the character and intent of Glenn and most posters at this blog enough to assume that you needed to educate us about this is what is so thoroughly nauseating about your continued..........continuance.

Whatever.
