What a flaming capital A-hole John Bolton is. "A" is for Archetypal Authoritarian, spewing untruth, yielding no admission of his own blatant errors and misdeeds, and redirecting blame to everyone but himself and his ilk.

Amen. I have a visceral revulsion to seeing and hearing this man. He is the most repulsive and offensive person. The first time I saw him I wondered about the fact that his moustache was so white compared to his hair. Then he opened his mouth. The scalding, in-your-face lies and other filth that came oozing out from under it more than explained it's bleached-bone color. It's a wonder it doesn't burst into flames and fly off his face!

Shooter misses my mark

Is there any mention of what is said or why it's wrong? No, just ridicule of appearance.

Actually Shooter my visceral revulsion to the man is all about what he says when he opens his pie-hole. The moustache comment was more of an analogy to the nasty consequences of the filth that comes pouring out every time it opens. Get a clue and stop cherry picking to "support" your nonsense.

BTW, "The scalding, in-your-face lies and other filth that came oozing out," is a direct referral to what is said. Maybe you just object to the fact that I think it's always filth and lies.

Jebbie

Is there not One Single Military officer who will live up to his oath to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States of America at the risk of his military career?

Yes, there is. His name is Ehren Watada.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehren_Watada

Ehren Watada (born 1978) is a First Lieutenant (1LT) of the United States Army who in June 2006 publicly refused[1][2] to deploy to Iraq for his unit's assigned rotation to Operation Iraqi Freedom. Watada said he believed the war to be illegal and that, under the doctrine of command responsibility, it would make him party to war crimes.

Stuck on titles

A one-day guide to war supporters and their enablers

Or: The Warmongers and their Mainstream Media Circle Jerk

I apologise for being crude but this just set me off:

Citing his fellow surge advocate, NYT "reporter" Michael Gordon (who, in turn, featured O'Hanlon as his principal "expert" in his pro-war front page article this weekend), O'Hanlon argues:

These people are so shameless and despicable that it boggles the mind that they are still perched in their bully pulpits. I am enormously thankful for people like you and Karen De Young, who are out there detailing their duplicity and forcing accountability into the discussion. It is long overdue and is having an effect.

"Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!" said Gomer Pyle

Steven Biddle, top advisor to General Patreaus, was on C-Span this AM and was asked about this poll result. With a very straight face he informed the listeners that this may be the opinion of the majority of Iraqi's, but he assured us that "the elites" in Iraq know better and really, really don't want the Americans to leave until order is restored.--CarolynC

So the truth slips out and it turns out that, just like in the US, the only opinions that matter to these people are those of "the elites".

Quelle surprise.

@ Wabanatta3

The good news is that the PR campaign has been pretty blunted by McClatchy and sharp Bloggers.

One of the more heartening developments I have seen in our local newspaper is their inclusion of more articles by McClatchy. Today's front page headliner about Petraeus' report is from them and is filled with all of the counterveiling information we have all been citing (i.e. the GAO report etc).

Of course, right below it is an article that seems to be so much more prevalent in midwest newspapers, "Terrorism fears found greater today than after 9/11", with this ridiculous line by one of our intrepid local reporters, "And that was before Osama said he'd leave us alone if we'd all just convert." Where do they find these ill-informed idjits???

One step forward, two steps back, DYK. If it weren't for Glenn and the posters in this comment section I would have ripped my hair out long ago.

@ tominwindsor

The Republicans are past all hope. They require a substantial period of exile from power to regroup, reevaluate, and rejuvenate the GOP.

Rejuvenate the GOP??? The administration we currently have is the crowning achievement of the Republican party's last walk in the wilderness. They did not spend that time idling. The results from their last "reevaluation" have been so destructive that I'd rather see them disbanded and completely disgraced. No regrouping. No rejuvenating.

Trade you one Lloyd Doggett for a Patrick Tiberi

More Congressmembers with this clarity of vision, please!

I am jealous of Casual Observer's good fortune. Ohio is showing a lot more blue in its purple according to polls here these days, but I will be working harder than ever next election cycle.

Karen M

What! ...no complaints so far

...about Glenn's gratuitous use of Petraeus's personal assets, by posting those photos with him in his impeccable uniform with its shiny buttons... his manly arm pointing at all of those authoritative-looking charts and graphs?

Indeed [snort].

If his manly chest was any smaller they'd have had to pin some of his ribbons to the seat of his pants.

Talk shows vs "News"

And Glenn et.al. wonder why Petraeus goes to Fox for a friendly interview? If Hillary wants a sympathetic audience she goes to Oprah, who would expect anything different? -- Shooter242

I missed the part where Oprah was hired as a journalist.

Oh, wait -- Hume isn't a journalist either! Silly me.
