"Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive...."

Reminds me of "Charlotte's Web".-- Fraud Guy

Yes, "droppings for pigs" seems to sum it up nicely. Michael's original post on this is too complex for our trolls, but this should be sufficiently simple for even them to grasp.

OT, but I couldn't resist (with apologies to Good Celery)

Ya don't see many expired hides with pricks.

This could change.....

Sen. Larry Craig Expected to Resign Today

Apparently this story has been on CNN and Fox since this morning.

Then there is this garbage by Linda Chavez...

http://www.townhall.com/columnists/LindaChavez/2007/08/30/abuse_of_power

Interestingly, the above article is titled "Abuse of power" at Townhall.com. In my local paper that morphed into "Media wouldn't beat up Craig so badly if he were a Democrat", a more accurate description of the contents. This stuff really twists my knickers, so I "Greenwalded" her (as in, "to check past actions against present") - it took two minutes to find articles she wrote about Clinton's little (legal) peccadillo. Sheesh.

Mule farts and miracles

It is best to un-hitch a long-ear-red-mule and just hope to only smell lanolin fragrance instead of 'ole mule farts?

There've already been too many "ole mule farts" (or donkey as the case may be). I like the suggestion to "un-hitch" our "long-ear-red-mules" (red, indeed). Let's replace them with true-blue-eared donkey brayers, shall we?

A little rain water, sunshine, earthen soil, and a bit of cultivatiing labor...A Miracle. The real mircle is to walk not on waves of rough waters, but with a real calm stride on our two feet.

Bebop-o, I agree with WT, you are priceless. A wonderful Labor Day to you too.

Am reading Altemeyer's book....

...and just read the very passage quoted by Glenn yesterday while on a long family holiday weekend away from my computer. What a fantastic coincidence!

It is truly amazing the absolute and complete lack of dissonance these folks exhibit. Just stunning.

Re: Update II - Hadn't heard the NPR report, but NBC (a compromise between me and my Fox-worshipping father)was reporting on this in the same breathless fashion.

Keep up the great work Glenn.

Ledeen's uvula

Ledeen:...we are now up to our uvulas in evidence...

As Glenn suggests, there is something tickling Ledeen's uvula, but it's certainly NOT evidence against Iran.

Glenn:Yet Ledeen continues to sit atop of our nation's pro-war organs...

And the RWAs are so pro-science anyhow that many of them will likely mistake Ledeen's uvula for an anatomical part he doesn't yet have.

These people are despicable. Thanks for calling them on it Glenn.

Not image and theatre?

So much for your theory that it was all image and theater...

So, say we give you the benefit of the doubt on the codpiece issue, because your description of all the straps and how things are supposed to fit - or not fit, as the case may be - seems to have merit, then how is the "Mission Accomplished" banner not theatre? What about the rubber Thanksgiving turkey?

Whether or not Bush stuffed his shorts - and the fun we've had speculating about it - is just icing on the cake. It is always about the "image" and "theatre" with this crew.

The streets & sidewalks to & from my harbourside home & city workplace are choked with security checkpoints, bristling with steroidal Secret Service types, heavily armed Special Forces, police in riotgear, sniffer-dogs etc. Even the skies are menacing with pairs & trios of low-flying Blackhawks growling overhead. Bulletproof motorcades thunder past, amid sirens, megaphones & squawking security radios.

Wow! A glimpse of our future if this admin gets its way. Scary. I've visited Sydney and loved it and I extend my apologies, as a US citizen, that you are having to endure such disruptions because our tinpot dick-tater is in town.

Oh, and I love this one:

Thank you Karen M

I have always had a strong reaction to being judged by my looks, because that technique has always been a way of keeping women in line...Not just their looks, but their behavior, how and whether they actually fulfill the roles that are deemed suitable...consider that we still live in a society where the very worst name one can call a man is any part of a woman's body or some other derogatory term to denote her feminine passivity. Why is that still the case in the 21st century, even after the second wave of feminism?

Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! They set artificial standards, then denigrate you (male or female) when you don't meet them, even though they, themselves, would be hard pressed to toe the ephemeral lines in the sand that they have drawn.

The whole "wilting flower" thing is so passe. It needs to stop.

OT but interesting

Virus May Be Cause of US Honeybee Deaths

The scientists report using a novel genetic technique and old-fashioned statistics to identify Israeli acute paralysis virus as the latest potential culprit in the widespread deaths of worker bees, a phenomenon known as colony collapse disorder.

http://www.salon.com/wires/ap/scitech/2007/09/06/D8RG438G1_honeybee_virus/index.html

Could this also be causing Congressional collapse disorder? Perhaps it is responsible for the faux masculinity we see on the right?? At the very least, it must have something to do with all of the ME warmongering of that lot.

Enquiring minds would like to know.....
