An Empire of Bases

If you want a really good picture of the American style empire I highly recommend Chalmers Johnson's trilogy: Blowback, The Sorrows of Empire, and Nemesis.

For a start you could read his article in the January issue of Harpers, "Republic or Empire."

Orin Hatch - STFU

Hatch is making me sick. We must do this because it would effect the bottom line of these poor patriotic telecom companies. And the poor companies cannot even defend themselves. The employee in these poor pathetic companies are now "soft targets" for the terrorists. I want more protections in this bill but I compromised.

Orin Hatch! STFU!!!

What f**king version of the Bible is she reading from?

Let's see...he's obviously not pleased with America, Israel, Palestine, Pakistan, most of Africa, the Katrina victims, or any other nation or person who is not at peace.

Format

Is RealPlayer the only format this is available in? I'd like to listen to it on my MP3 player, but really don't want to pay RealPlayer $40.00 to be able to convert it.

Anyone Remember Jean Seaberg

If not here's the Time story outlining how the FBI tormented her.

Her story was the first thing that came to mind when I read about Ivins' suicide.

There Are Beliefs...

"There are those that believe that this particular issue has to be dealt with very carefully because there are beliefs that there are some options that need to be available," Reyes said.

So we have to be very careful not to trample on the beliefs of those who want to torture other human beings, cuz their beliefs deserve far more care than a human life.

For News From Inside Gaza

The International Solidarity Movement has people in Gaza. They have been working with the Red Crescent, going out with them. Two of the women came into Gaza on one of the Free Gaza ships that challenged the siege by sea. They have been posting when there is time and electricity here:
