We're boned...

Nuclear power may be easier on CO2 emissions, but uses a lot of water in the process (not to mention waste concerns). Our best bet (but it wont happen) is to switch to a decentralized power grid where we generate power for our own needs via fuel cells, wind, solar, whatever; then sell surplus power back to the grid. That model reduces the impact of outages due to our flimsy infrastructure.

The root problem as mentioned by others is that there are too many people on the planet with too few finite resources to accommodate everyone. In addition, our "leaders" are too beholden to those in power who make a lot of coin with the status quo to make any "radical" changes until it's too late.

I have no worries about the planet; she'll recover just fine in a 1,000 years after humanity has been culled by natural/man-made disasters to a manageable number... say, 500,000 of us.

Let's see...

At the start of the primaries, HRC had an advantage in money, name recognition & Democratic party insiders. The nomination was hers for the taking if only she would have listened to the people who are tired of the status quo.

So now all that is just about gone with the help of the clowns who are on her staff, most of whom have helped the Republicans enjoy a stranglehold on power for the bulk of the last 28 years.

So, how again is she ready to "lead" on day 1 if she and her over-paid minions have botched her primary run so bad? In my opinion, how a candidate runs their campaign is a direct reflection on how they are going to transition to the executive branch of gov't.

BHO's team has been running in nearly clock-like fashion. HRO... not so much.

My bad...

"HRC" not "HRO"...

Carry on.

Agree 100% with the strategy

Tactically, we anti-Republican realists need to focus on a unified, simple to understand, bite-sized (for the attention-deficit masses) response to BS and repeat as needed.

Only by repetition will we be able to break through the collective mental fog the Republican's use to perpetuate the status quo.

Good point, mikeyfil.

I second the notion of having Glenn (if logistically possible) occasionally make an appearance on "Countdown".

Show me an online petition and I'll 'sign' it.

Interesting...

I keep reading from HRC supporters how good she is; how she'll win the election; how BHO will lose badly, how the media is against her and in "love" with BHO...

At the beginning of the primary, HRC had the name recognition; the support of Democratic party insiders and substantial money advantage. Now through hubris, ineptness and some misplaced sense of inevitability that the Presidency should be hers (divine right?) she finds herself behind in the primary process and divisive enough to be on the verge of becoming the next Ralph Nader or Joe Lieberman.

I find it difficult to buy the arguments that she is more electable or will be more effective in the White House if she can't manage her campaign finances; she can't convince voters she's the better candidate without going negative early & often... despite the fact she had all those early advantages that she squandered away against a relative unknown challenger. HRC has been given every opportunity to turn her campaign around, but has not done so.

Frankly, HRC and the rest of her DLC/Republican-lite colleagues had their opportunity for the last 2 Presidential election cycles to get a Democrat in the White House. Remember how Howard Dean got 'kneecapped' by the party establishment once he started gaining momentum in favor of John Kerry? The same John Kerry who party insiders thought was more electable.

The divisive '51%' triangulation tactics is not what the country is looking for in this election. Voters do not want a "Bush equivalent" presidency from the Democrats this fall. Most voters have their opinion of HRC with a large percentage of those folks having a negative reaction to her that won't change.

Now is the time for the Progressives in the party to have an opportunity to continue in 2008 the 50-state strategy started by Dr. Dean that was so effective in the 2006 mid-term elections. BHO has the ability to attract people from across the political spectrum; to leverage his substantial grass-roots organization in both fund raising & get out the vote efforts; to involve voters who have never been involved before and carry this enthusiasm to future election cycles.

Disclosure: I'm a 43 yo registered Independent who normally votes Democratic (since 1984). I was objective at the beginning of the primary leaning towards Edwards, but as I've compared the way that HRC & BHO have conducted their campaigns, it looks like Obama has the best chance to not only win in the fall, but to also assist others down-ticket to win their elections as well making Obama's term in office more successful by having majorities in both the House & Senate.
