  • Why worry about it?

[Read the article: What does a girl have to do to get excommunicated?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I don't understand the reluctance of this writer to just 'opt out' of the Catholic Church all together. The good work she's doing on behalf of women's rights is at total odds with her own church. I only hope she's not giving them money (tithe).

When they do finally get around to excommunicating her I hope she doesn't take it too badly.

    Enjoy.

  • Iphone observations

[Read the article: New iPhone details: Longer battery, better glass]

This phone looks so much better than anything I've seen in the cell phone market that I want one, but I don't NEED one, so I'll wait a couple years to let the early adopters get their economic fleecing before making the move.

Total cost of ownership for this phone (with the service plan) is likely more than I wish to pay, but there are plenty of folks willing to shell out whatever it takes to have one. This is my strategy on almost all new tech. I just bought my first Ipod (video btw) last year and matched it to the first Mac (mini) I ever owned. I've been very pleased with the Mac, notwithstanding the slight loss in initial usability/productivity from my lack of familiarity with the O/S. I'm kicking myself now for not having 'made the switch' a couple years earlier when my techie coworker friends were all getting them.

I have total faith that even this first gen phone will have few problems given Apple's experience (and market domination) of the audio player market.

    Enjoy.

Worthless. Make everybody register. Use a heavy hand in removing offensive or threatening posts.

What is potentially a more troublesome problem is the fact that paid government trolls are being unleashed as we speak. They will likely be a little more covert in their snark, but I'm sure the same old patterns will develop in their posts.

I have to approve all comments on my site, but it's not like I get that many compared to something like Salon. On the other hand, Salon has people who could manage this function since there is a shared responsibility of duties.

My personal policy is one of public protection. If I see a critical well reasoned response to an opinion of mine then I'll let it slide. If it's full of logical fallacies I'll either use it as an opportunity to educate, or just not let it post in the first place. The administration shills are counting on being able to 'muddy up' the blogosphere. Not on my site.

    Enjoy.

  • Online vrs Live

[Read the article: Requiem for a poker game]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I routinely watch the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel. I'm not going to argue your facts, but some of your conclusions seem a little off. From my point of view, there are some online newbies and amateurs that make it to the final table. On average, not so many.

I don't think you can just force substitute the game theory on top of the gameplay without factoring in the social element. That's one reason I don't play online (I haven't played in the casinos either btw). In person I could upset a table with my rudeness, humor, wit, etc. I'm pretty sure it would be an invaluable tool in my playing arsenal. More than once I've seen players go 'on tilt' against a player they don't like just to put him out.

    Enjoy.

  • Ridiculous or Bought and Paid For?

[Read the article: Ridiculous "study" says iPhone's keyboard is inefficient]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Should I be upset with 'testing methodology manipulation' or is the real enemy of truth that this 'study' was bought and paid for by a company without Iphone's touch screen and intentionally designed to be misleading?

    Enjoy.

  • Making a Mockery of 'real' newscasters?

[Read the article: She may not have gravitas ...]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

LOL. You want to know what I'd be afraid of if I were Fox? That the girl would do JUST FINE. Are we to assume that this 'former bikini model' is illiterate? How much 'skill' does it take to 'look pretty' and read a teleprompter when you've already got your doctorate in 'look pretty'?

I'm sure any well spoken individual that wasn't visually off-putting could do as good a job as any of the 'real' Fox journalists who the show was counting on as comedic foil, unless Fox PURPOSELY chose a really dumb person (no really, even dumber than Bill O'Reilly).

As a big fan of reality tv (cheers to Danielle and "Evil" Dick on BB8 - Louie got TOTALLY shafted on PM), this show escaped my radar. Did she fail so horribly that it's painful to watch, or did she 'assimiliate' so smoothly that all the 'real' Fox reporters (talk about an oxymoron) got nervous? What if the remaining 23% of the population too stupid to realize the 'Fox News Scam' sees too many similarities between 'talent' and 'no talent'?

    Enjoy.

  • Why Michael Moore matters most right now !!

[Read the article: Hey, Dems: Run against Bush -- and toughen up -- or lose in '08]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The basic thesis of my book, or one of the basic ideas of my book, is that Democrats don't understand the degree to which emotion matters and the development of emotionally compelling appeals matters.

    ----------------------

This is why the rightwing smear merchants have been swiftboating Michael Moore so rigorously. He is able to bring the facts together in an EMOTIONALLY moving way. I'm a big fan of all his work and I particularly enjoyed Farenheit 911. Farenheit 911 pales in comparison to Sicko, and although I liked and endorsed Farenheit, Sicko really sets the bar for implementing the kind of emotional message while also serving up enough technical detail (statistics on World Health e.g.) to withstand an outright charge of bias.

    Enjoy.

  • How to get a Republican Horny (Photo)

[Read the article: Craig to cop: "I'm a respectable person"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Here's something I've been sharing around the net that is strangely appropriate under the recent circumstances.

How to get a Republican Horny:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/timtimes/1277152453/

It's an original photo of mine, offered for use under Creative Commons, so if you enjoy it, pass it around. I only set the flickr account up today for the express purpose of and there are already almost 500 views.

    It's worksafe and spot-on.

    Enjoy.
