I've voted in every election since 1972 and the only candidate that I ever supported who won was Bill Clinton. My votes for him are also the only ones I have ever regretted, as he became a major proponent of globalist treaties and agreements that have resulted in accelerated environmental degradation, job and manufacturing loss in this country, and the sacrifice of elements of our national sovereignty. Barack Obama ran on a similar platform of empty slogans for "change" and "yes, we can" without specifically attacking the multitude of abuses of the Constitution and international law perpetrated by the Bush Administration. These were, however, addressed by all of the "minor party" candidates, who were shut out from the debates and mainstream media publicity because their platforms constituted a program of action that would have been contrary to the interests of the globalist corporate oligarchy, now gluttonously feasting on the carcass of the American economy through "bailouts".
Bill Clinton taught me a valuable lesson: never vote for a candidate who offers "pie-in-the-sky" but is silent on the abusive practices of his predecessor.
What's with New York, anyway? Why do they almost automatically elect or appoint well-connected but minimally qualified candidates? Why did they go big for carpet-baggers Robert Kennedy and Hillary Clinton? What does that say about the esteem of the 19,300,00 people that live in the state, that not one of them feels there is anyone more qualified than among them than Big-Name Johnny-Jump-Up or a Carpet-Bagger Queen? I seriously doubt that people in my western state would support any of these people trying to make political capital from a famous relative.
Hey, New Yorkers! Get a life! Find someone out there who has come up through the ranks, that knows something about life as a common person in this country! Stop electing and appointing political dynasties! And Texas, don't even dream of supporting the Bush twins for political office!
The people of the United States have been trained that their nation has a special role to play in the world, an ethical role of promoting truth and justice. The primary business of the American government ought to be advancing the cause of justice. Justice is meaningless without accountability. Before President Obama tackles the problems of the economy, medical insurance, environmental degradation, or any of the other pressing issues that the Bush Administration has ignored or exacerbated, he needs to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate and prosecute those responsible for the reckless and illegal violations of human rights and Constitutional processes that have occurred over the last few years. Without such a concerted effort to identify and punish those who have perpetrated these abuses, our government and people lose all credibility in the world for providing positive leadership.
to be directed against the Obama Administration that does not investigate and prosecute officers of the Bush Administration for violations of criminal and civil law, does not disavow the illegal methods used, and, indeed, continues to commit the same kinds of atrocities. Bush was a pioneer in greatly expanding the powers of the Executive Branch, thanks to a spineless Congress. Now that the territory has been claimed, I fear Mr. Obama will not readjust the "balance of powers" to their constitutionally prescribed limits.
What I did was, I went to pharmacy school in the day, I went to high school at night to finish up my high school diploma, I worked as an X-ray technician, I had an internship, which I was doing at Walgreen's in New York.
Was the world so different then that one could be studying for a degree as a pharmacist and still not have a high school diploma? My understanding is that pharmacy is an academic graduate program, meaning one has to have a bachelor's degree to qualify for admittance. And if he already had his B.A. or B.S., why would he bother getting a high school diploma?
Paul may be rendering as accurate an account as his muddled memory can assemble, but some of these details defy probability.
If America can be said to have a moral mission in the world, that is, if America embodies more than economic opportunity and political domination, that mission is the promotion of justice. Justice is the product of accountability and knowledge. Without investigations into the patently illegal activities of our soon-to-be-late leaders and prosecutions for violations, an invitation is in effect issued to subsequent administrations to continue these infringements and outrages to the point that our much-vaunted democracy is reduced to a hollow sham, a Potemkin village without substance, and we are reduced to serving the oligarchy. The unresponsiveness of the Obama camp to the notion of investigation and prosecution is a tip-off that they intend to continue on this now well-worn path toward tyranny. The guy that won the presidency through projecting a message of change seems to be the one upholding all that was bad in his predecessor's administration.
Over 18,000 votes had been cast. 46% gave him an "F" and 16% gave him a "D". I think this is probably a pretty accurate reflection of the public distaste for his administrative blunders and crimes. I hope the Obama Administration can resist the pressure from the corporate oligarchs to follow in his footsteps and work to reestablish the vision and reality of a just and decent America.
