"The Former Maverick from Arizona"
[Read the article: McCain wins early newspaper primaries]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yeah, too bad about the "former maverick" part. McCain is now competing with Giuliani for the dubious honor of being the heir of the Bush/Cheney legacy of military aggression, unauthorized spying on Americans, and perpetual deficits.
Hey, if you really want to "cut and run" from the politics of tyranny, support Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich. They are the only candidates with the courage and conviction to stand up to the Bush/Cheney corruption machine.

McCain's Campaign Is Moribund, Find The Future Elsewhere
[Read the article: McCain wins early newspaper primaries]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Senator Lieberman's endorsement is the kiss of death for McCain. Few Americans want to elect a George Bush lapdog so they can have four more years of tyranny, oppression, and violence, trashing what little reputation our country may still have as a beacon of liberty and justice under the law.
Now the good news: Ron Paul's supporters have donated just today over 4 million dollars to his campaign, possibly breaking his previous fund raising effort on November 5. Currently he is 33% over his $12 million 4th quarter goal at $16+ million. An increasing portion of the American people are waking up to the damage the neocons have done to our country and are willing to invest in real change.
We need responsible and frugal government, peace, justice, liberty, and security. A McCain presidency would be a continuance of the travesties this country has endured under the Bush/Cheney cabal. If a neocon toady like Lieberman wants to endorse McCain, all that shows is his pigheaded support of a colossally failed approach to domestic and foreign policies.

Hey Hattie!
[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Your precious Senator Clinton (a real grown-up, remember!)voted for the Iraq invasion and occupation and voted for Patriot Acts I and II.
"The other little nut from Texas", Ron Paul, voted against the Iraq invasion and occupation and voted against Patriot Acts I and II.
So, you prefer a real grown-up petty tyrant in the White House trashing the Constitution and public interest for the next 4 years? I'm supporting "the other little nut from Texas", Dr. Ron Paul, a person who will honor the Constitution and set the country back on the course of preserving our heritage of liberty, restoring fiscal responsibility, protecting our borders, and respecting the sovereignty of other nations.
Which candidate is more likely to give us the peace, justice, and security that we all desire?

Unitaritians Are Still Alive and Kicking The Last Time I Checked!
[Read the article: America's first Me Generation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]From the article: "The Unitarians were liberal Christians..." (emphasis added).
The Unitarian-Universalist Association would, I think, resent being consigned to history by use of the past tense in the article. It's sort of like saying the Catholic Church was...

America's Future: Ron Paul As An Exit From The Highway To Hell
[Read the article: Harry Reid's pro-life stance vs. Ron Paul's ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Take a look at the changes that have occurred in the United States over the last several years. The national debt is rising at an explosive rate. Even after the harsh lessons of Vietnam, we are once again involved in an expensive and brutal occupation of an Asian nation. The human rights we have cherished, promoted, and celebrated as part of our national identity are infringed by our own government, shaming us before the world. The Chief Executive of the nation has been caught flat-footed lying to the people on issues involving their Constitutional right to privacy and on whether we should launch military assaults on other nations, both felonies under the law, yet a craven Congress cannot find the time to hold him accountable via the impeachment process. Educational policies are directed from a bureaucracy in Washington, DC, usurping state and local control. Illegal immigrants are virtually invited over the border to undermine the ability of American workers to earn a decent living.
I'm fed up with these shenanigans and want the kind of government I think the Founders envisioned: respectful of rights, fiscally responsible, and accountable to the public.
I disagree with Ron Paul on many issues, chiefly reproductive rights, energy policy, and national health insurance, but I strongly support his candidacy. Ron Paul can help us reclaim the mechanism by which government ought to operate. That is what is at risk here. Are we going to continue to develop into an authoritarian, centralized state characterized by military aggression and curtailment of liberty, a new Soviet Union, or are we going to find our way back to being the world's beacon of freedom, preserving our sovereignty and respecting that of other nations, seeking peace and prosperity through diplomacy.

America Under Attack
[Read the article: Mitt Romney's pursuit of tyrannical power, literally]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The oath that federal office holders are obligated to take requires them to pledge to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
Now we see that among those enemies of the Constitution and our heritage of personal and political liberty are the very ones who have given a solemn oath to defend them.
The American people must soundly reject the notion of the "unitary executive" as pernicious to our customs, institutions, and way of life. Domestic authoritarianism threatens our future to an infinitely greater degree than do a few foreign crackpots with explosives. Throttling back the free flow of information and ideas leaves us subject to reckless mistakes and abuses by those in power.
We need a chief executive who is aware and mindful of his/her proper role in the structure of the federal government. In addition, we need a potent Congress willing to discipline a renegade executive. The current self-castrated Congress, declaring on day one of its session that impeachment was "off the table", has proven how useless are reason and the milder forms of persuasion when dealing with political criminals bent on achieving their ends by lies and intimidation.
