Kucinich isn't a real threat to Hillary, Obama or any other leading candidate -- he doesn't have the charisma or popularity.
No, what Kucinich lacks is an anointing by the Mainstream Media of "Front Runner" status, free coverage in news reports, a magazine cover story or two, etc. Nor will he ever get this because he supports a program of fairness, legality, and accountability that is anathema to the Corporate-Controlled Powers behind the Press. Senator Clinton is the Panderer-in-Chief to the shirt, coat, and tie pirates in the board rooms, so this carpetbagger and neocon-enabler gets top billing. We need candidates who will the divest themselves of the spinmeisters, speak to the issues from the standpoint of principle rather than popularity with Wall Street, and develop positions that answer the real needs of the American people.
I will support no media-designated "front runners".
Dianne Feinstein is my Senator and I sadly admit to having voted for her in the last election. I don't at the moment recall the issues, but in the months leading up to the election she seemed to be standing up to the neocons. I had a lot of hope that a Democratic House and Senate would stop the Bushites cold and start turning the country around. I was bitterly disappointed in her performance on issues of immigration, the Iraq occupation, and constitutional rights. My "Blue Dog" Representative in the House, Mike Thompson, likewise deserves a big thumbs down for his stands on immigration and constitutional rights protection.
After 40 years as a registered Democrat, I am now a Republican supporting Ron Paul for President and will donate to Cindy Sheehan's campaign to unseat Blue Dog Nancy Pelosi.
A grand political realignment may be dawning in this country, pitting politicians like Feinstein and Hillary Clinton, who support big government running on borrowed money and serving the interests of globalist corporations with military power against those who want to live in a free, peaceful, and responsible society. Party labels don't matter a whit. Those who enable the swaggering neocon bully-boys are just as guilty of atrocities against humanity and against liberty as the neocons themselves.
Ron Paul, The Fucking Kook
1) spoke against and voted against Congressional authorization for and all funding bills in support of the Iraq invasion and occupation.
2) spoke against and voted against the Patriot Acts I and II.
3) opposes all government programs that snoop on the private affairs of American citizens and would shut down warrantless wiretapping and Total Information Awareness style data base collection.
4) opposes and voted against the Department of Homeland Security.
5) spoke against and voted against NAFTA and the WTO, organizations that expedite outsourcing American jobs and increase the balance-of-trade deficit.
6) opposes and votes against deficit-spending budgets that put our government deeper in hock, with 40% of the national debt now owed to foreign nations like China.
7) opposes a foreign policy based on military intimidation and aggression, recognizing the deep antagonism this causes around the world.
8) supports the Constitutional mandate that Congress be in direct charge of the money supply, reversing 100 years of wealthy private banker control through the Federal Reserve System.
9) opposes the personal, but not the corporate, income tax, which wrongly intrudes government influence into the decisions that citizens make about their own resources and is a major source of stress. The complex personal income tax is a system of government intimidation that is truly broken.
10) opposes Corporatism and will work to free the government policy makers from the pathological influence of self-serving big money interests.
11) opposes and voted against the No Child Left Behind Act, with its perversion of the educational process and theft of local control.
12) opposes and voted against the Real ID Act, under which everyone in the country will be required to carry a standardized identification card ("papers") so that government agents can track every transaction and move you make. This Act takes effect in May 2008.
I personally support a national medical insurance program, which Ron Paul opposes.
If any of the "front runners" of either party had a program that was half as consistent with the values personal liberty, diplomacy, local control, freeing the government from massive debt and the tentacles of corporate influence, as "Fucking Kook" Ron Paul, I might consider offering my support.
Garrison Keillor is an American institution and who can't love the plain and simple way he has of expressing common sense truth? But this time his preparation was a little weak, because one, just one, of the Republican candidates for President never has, does not, and will never toe the line on loyalty to Bush and his neocon gang of thugs. Congressman Dr. Ron Paul has opposed President Bush on just about every single issue of importance over the last 6 years. He has spoken eloquently and voted against the so-called Patriot Act, the Iraq invasion and occupation, warrantless wiretapping, the No Child Left Behind Act, the continuing permeable borders and amnesty for illegals immigrants, and the suspension of habeas corpus.
It's time that reporters and commentators start to recognize the Ron Paul campaign for what it is: a spontaneous grassroots revulsion against bloated, wasteful, abusive, and irresponsible government. Mr. Keillor, please take note.
If you are pretty well satisfied with a government whose debt increases by 1.26 billion dollars a day, that uses its awesomely destructive military power to intimidate other nations into surrendering their resources cheaply, enriching corporations and deepening popular resentment against us, that conducts warrantless surveillance on its citizens, and that will soon require everyone to carry a uniform identification card, feel free to support and vote for Romney, Giuliani, McCain, Clinton, and possibly Obama and Edwards. You will be hastening the day you live in a totally Orwellian society.
Otherwise support a real revolution in American politics: Ron Paul.
