Who cares?

I think by this time (almost three weeks after her selection) nobody expects anything resembling a real interview. You know, reporter-subject-objectivity. This reeks of photo op, and I'm heartened to know that most of the country realizes this. In fact, I think the bloom is definitely coming off the rose in regards to public perception of Palin.

I really don't even know if I'm going to watch the interview. Why bother? I just can't pretend that this interview has any significance except to continue to control the message. If the McCain camp had unleashed her immediately aferwards, they could have really built a significant advantage over Obama. Now, not so much. I'm sure there will be plenty of eyeballs watching, but I don't think many people expect to really learn anything about her.

My apologies

To you Alex for my previous post wailing on you. I just assumed this needless waste of space story was written by you, as it had all the earmarks of a Koppelman post. Vapid, irrelevant, lacking substance, and ultimately meaningless.

Wednesday, September 10, 2008 04:36 PM

Let me put it another way

Alex, are you purposely trying to look stupid and incompetent with your posts? It seems that way. Almost as if you writing posts that are a parody of the Salon War Room. I can't remember the name of the guy who came in when you were away, but he had stories of substance. If that guy could come back, perhaps we could get back to stories that are substance driven, actually do the readers a service. Not this junk you've been giving us.

Just awful

You are the worst political journalist this site has ever had. Just awful man. How you ever gott his job is beyond me. I get better political discourse from my cat.

So?

O.K. Lolcait- I'll bite. Which democratic nominee could have won in your eyes, and why would they have won? I'd like to see real answers here otherwise you're just a punk trolling around.

Nice work

Alex, I've been on your ass this week for reporting frivolous and meaningless drivel about this race. I think you've also been guilty of undermining Obama's campaign in my mind at times so I can give kudos when I see some actual good reporting. Nice job. Please more reporting like this, and less Obama concern reporting in the future.

@shes the one

"I'm a Democrat and I shop at Walmart, as well as Kmart, Target and other discount stores."

Of course you do. We all do. Who doesn't these days after the Bush administration has systematically crushed the middle class. By the way, can you pick me up some paper towels and a pack of gum while you're there?

You are the worst journalist this site has ever seen.

Just awful man. Just absolutely terrible. I really can't articulate just how your very presence here at this site deteriorates it beyond recognition.

I knew it

Of course, you'd have to be a completely new to Salon not to realize that this column and picture would be rightfully slammed by almost every letter writer. It's one thing if Salon aimed at being like The Onion, which strives for a parody that can almost be mistaken for real at times. To my recollection though, Salon has tried to be a progressive outlet. One that tries to cut through the bullshit and spin of the MSM. So much for that online magazine I once knew.

Seriously, I subscribed for a few years because I felt it was worth paying for articles that paid attention to what this country was turning into with a guy like Bush in the white house. I would gladly continue to pay if this were still that site. Sadly, it's not. Salon is now more like the equivalent of The Jerry Springer Show.

Joan, you no longer have the right to criticize the media for their supposedly awful treatment of Clinton. Not after allowing this picture. I mean you can, but you can't expect anyone to take you seriously.

By the way, I'm not offended by the article or the picture, but I recognize how monumentally stupid it is to run them both given the climate of the race and this country. The article is dumb enough, but the picture really seals the deal. As many have noted, you have now given red meat to right wing talking heads looking for more misdirection of the issue. Oy, Joan, how can you be so blind.

Original article: Palin watch ends!

Maybe a spork?

Governor Palin, community organizers are scum, total low life trash who deserve to beaten badly on a daily basis. We can all agree on that. My question is this: What blunt instrument would you administer the beatings with?

Submit this one for me:

Governor Palin, your son who is going off to Iraq tells you he is gay, and wants to get married to his long time lover before he gets on that long plane to Iraq to defend the nation. What would you tell him?
