As I've gotten older, I relish my alone time. I rarely feel lonely anymore. I think when I was younger, before I had the chance to experience a lot of dating, and some lengthy personal relationships, I was more prone to the feeling of loneliness. A lot of my feelings was derived from what I thought others had, as well as from what I thought I was therefore missing.

That's a very astute observation. You make several good points in your review of this movie. I liked Jim Carrey up until Bruce Almighty where what you're describing here as tired schtick is in that movie as well.

Very few comedians make successful comedies after the first few beause they can't escape the persona that made them successful, and as you mentioned, that act eventually becomes tiresome to the audience that first enjoyed that act. This truth foe film comedians goes way back too. I'm a huge Marx Bros fan. Duck Soup is easily one of the best comedies ever hands down, but the brothers, despite making many classic comedies early on eventually wore down, and their anarchic spirit was no longer so anarchic nor spirited.

There are few comedians I can think of who have grown as comedians. Bill Murray comes to mind, and the reason he was able to and is still able to pull off a comedic role, is that he had the courage to move away from the hipster persona he had established so successfully in movies like Stripes and Ghostbusters.

Carrey who is now literally looking tired on screen is sitll trying to play the same antic hyper fool that won him audiences in the 90's and it's starting to look sad, as well as a little desperate. Unless he's capable of truly submerging himself in a non Jim Carrey like comedic performance, I think his days are numbered as a comedy icon.

Well the fact that Koppelman specifically decided to write this little non-story when he said himself he's off this week sayas a lot about the importance of having tons of letters in a story you wrote. Very obvious. Very pathetic. Very effective.

Salon is in need of another letters section that will probably garner anywhere from 3 to 500 hundred posts from assorted trolls and outright nuts who need to continue to vent their bullshit. Cool. Sit back and enjoy the show.

I think it's comforting to know that she's just as disingenious, petty and clueless post election as pre. As for her running in 2012, there are some things that could hurt that. If she ages noticeably, that could be a problem. She was largely chosen for her youthful good looks, not her knowledge or intellect. If she starts to look in any way unattractive, the Republican base will find a younger prettier Sarah.

I don't think she would make it out of the primary though. She would be cut to shreds by any number of more legitimate candidates. I truly think her only chance was to sneak in under the radar as the unvetted candidate she was. In the meantime, I think the country will be so much better off with Obama in four years, that the thought of Palin in charge will seem like a huge step backwards.

I couldn't make it through more than thirty seconds. I was cringing the entire time, because you knew she would not only fall for it, but say something unimagineably dumb too. Truth be told, the idea of her speaking to any foreign leader at all is chilling to think about.

I live in California, so fortunately I'll get to put my stamp on how I feel about this abhorrent measure The prime ad being run by the Yes on 8 folks is one showing a couple from Massachusetts talking about how their kid in second grade is being taught about gay marriage. The argument in the ad is that there was nothing legally they could do so little Timmy could be protected from this awful information. And that if Timmy finds out about gay marriage it will destroy his world.

I'm looking at a mailer right now as I type, from the Yes on 8 folks, that says protect our school children Vote Yes on 8. The hypocrisy, is that I enounter Yes on 8 folks raising their placards on street corners along with THEIR SECOND GRADE AGE CHILDREN. Seriously, they are out their with their kids wearing Yes on 8 t-shirts. So obviously, their child must ask them what their mom or dad is so gung ho about. At some point, I would have to assume the parent then tells the child something relating to gay marriage. Done deal. Now the child knows. My advice to these folks? Take off your shirt, go home, and do something truly useful regarding your child's future, like maybe teaching them about the history of civil rights in this country.

What I want to know from every Yes on 8 supporter? What do they think is going to happen if gays can legally marry? What tragedy will befall our nation? Be clear too. I can't figure out why this is a issue. People fall in love in all types of ways, and I don't get why there are those who would deny two people who are in lov,e and want to make a total committment, the chance to legalize their union the way other members of society can?
