Original article: Of war and cancer

He misses the point.

It is the system that created Bush and tomorrow there could be another Bush. It happened twice also(in 2004). Half of the country still doesnt get the nuances described in this article. Look, even Obama does not want to say anything radical(and in some cases true).

I agree with Gary in that, as long as Israel is around and America supports it there will be terrorism. It is a vicious circle. And the Arabs need to get their act together and bring in change from the inside.

Would America bomb a democracy?say India?Maybe not.

So blaming Bush is the easy thing to do.We need a leader who can start a dialogue with the American people and say that we need to take some tough decisions but decisions that would help us and the world in the long term.

If I was a israeli..

I would shudder everytime GW or the christian right support my country as this would only enrage the Arab street...

In fact Iraq probably made matters worse..

The same WASPS who support GW also stereotype Jews..I have heard these remarks at work..

Besides..why dont all these Born Again hyprocrites just convert to Judaism?

Judaism====> Christianity right?

There is no logic to what is happening in USA right now..no honest discussion on anything.

They are slowly killing USA to the point we might need Israel's help!

Original article: The Democrats' God problem

Secularism :

Is respect for ALL relegions and that is what Democrats should define the word as.

It is not about being atheist or agnostic.

Simple Minded article...

If people voted their pocket book, would we have had 2 terms of GWB?

Also, I remember Salon hosting an article that talked about how Democrats dont need these kind of voters.

I think GWB connected with America in a way ( and 9.11 helped greatly) that Dems cannot.

No point blaming the media or other external factors.

Media is a product that is suited to the prevalant demand. No more no less.

America was always conservative and will remain to be so.

Especially in this highly multi polar world.

Original article: Barack Obama's epic win

The pendulum swings both ways...

If there were no GWB Presidency...there might have not been a Obama candidacy.

A lesson republicans need to learn. And a lesson that equally applies to Dems too.

From a perspective of a Indian ....

I have been a member of Salon since 2000 I think and that was when i used to live in the States....a country I admire and respect.

When I returned back to India in late 2005 to work for my family business I started to see USA and it's policies from a perspective of the outside world, at least from the Indian Editiorial point of view.

In India which boasts the largest circulated English daily in the World( the Times of India), graphic pictures from war and natural calamities are regularly printed..the other day there was a full color picture of a Afghani citizen being shot point blank in the head by a Taliban militia using a AK47 assualt rifle.

These things are accepted in my country as a way of life.

In the US I saw the way we hero worship our troops but are not willing to discuss what happens on the battle front.

Heck our Video Games are probably more graphic...

I think America's reaction to 9.11 has just begun and probably will continue on till it leads to a severe negative impact at home.

End of the day: There is no such thing as right or wrong but only strong or weak.

It could also mean McCain would get elected and start war with Iran!

A line onf Government subsidies

The Indian government recently raised the fuel prices as it's state owned oil companies were bleeding almost a billion dollars a month. So folks, a government can keep printing money and that would raise inflation( and in the case of China and India they cannot print dollars to buy fuel) and it is simply a visious circle!!

We need to recognize that it is not our birth right to plunder our planet and we need to behave like the smartest animals that we are supposed to be.

It is the voters who decide elections...

not campaign commercials or the media.Period.

If the American people voted GB twice(where was the moral high ground with those who voted for Bush in 04 with the swift boat campaign) why wont they vote McCain in? What has changed?

Remember it is the voters who think Obama is not an "All American" on numerous television interviews.

Nothing has changed folks. If you are not a WASP you are not going to be the President of the United States.Of course JFK was Catholic and look where he is now!

Evengelical Christianity or Islam or Hinduism or any religion for that matter is

undemocratic, hate mongering and wrong.Would these guys like Buddhist Monks preaching to their kids about virtues of Buddha or why true salvation lies in converting to Buddhism?

It is insensitive. And it is unAmerican. How are these guys with their Bible toting( and some gun carrying soldiers carrying the message of Jesus) any different than those in the Madrasas of Pakistan?

These guys will do more harm to the USA than any damn terrorist will.

Bill Clinton can talk the language of the Republicans

" do you want to reward them for the last 8 years by giving them another four"

Why dont the others talk this way? Majority of the Americans like this kind of talk. It just sticks to your mind.

I remember reading somewhere that when Newt Gingrich first heard Bill Clinton give a speech he commented "that this guy could mean trouble for us"...something to that effect.

Obama needs to keep his speeches simple and keep reminding Americans in a simple way of the dangers in putting McCain in the Whitehouse. That is what is needed. Period.
