Original article: Shame

Finally...

A expose worth talking about dealing with Iraq.Everyone talks about the 2400 odd soldier's dead righfully so. But why cannot we mention at least a single word of sympathy for the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis? We get into a murderous rage when we talk about abortion but why not talk about killing the mother and child whole when bombs fall on them at night? Is that not abortion?

That is mass abortion.

America and especially those who supported that war has to deal with this moral burden called Iraq. This stain, like Vietnam would be on all our psyches for generations to come.

But maybe we as a civilization have not evolved to apologize yet. Maybe we have to wait forever..More wars would start and the weak would fall under the sword of the mighty. That is the way of human kind.

Kudos to Gary and everyone who support his stand/idea.

Sambhu.

Original article: Shame

At last..

a article about Iraq worth reading.

But to be realistic we need to find out why half of America and the celebrities do not talk about the Tens of thousands of civilians that are dying everyday.Women and children murdered in their sleep. Pregnant women aborted along with their fetuses.

Is it a politically incorrect thing to do?Is it Racism?(I believe so as I always believed this was was also about religion).I think for gary's ideas to take root people who are ignorant in this country need to be taught that most human beings around this earth want simimar things for their loved ones.

We need to show that life is a cause that transecends liberalism or conservativism.

One can support our troops and care for the iraqis.

This is a great idea that should not fail in it's lack of execution..

Original article: It's Rove's midterm to lose

If it is only about winning elections...

then Rove did his job quiet well. I feel Democrats are already on the defensive with Kerry apologizing and Hillary having an identity crisis(attacking him). What Kerry said was true even if he meant what he did. How many suburban kids do you see joining the army?

Dems need to stand their ground. They really share the values of the common man and if they back of off the fight who will?

Joe gets it wrong as do most of my fellow liberals...

Never apologize for your beliefs.Do Coulter or Limbaugh apologize?

What Kerry said was true.Even if he did not mean it.Who would want to stay in Iraq if there were other options?

The day the democrats find out what they stand for then America would go back to being a two party system. If Dems win this round in November it is because the Republicans lost it..

Original article: It's the war, stupid

Impeach...

It will be curious to know if the Dems would push for impeachment if they do control the House, the Senate or both,,

It will be worth the anguish as hoepfully costly intentional occurences like these would be mitigated. Somehow if the outcome of the war and the country's support of the troops is broken then justice would be served....

What has he to loose...

they won both the terms and will probably end up in the lucrative speaking curcuit while the dems have to figure out Iraq.

Original article: Rumsfeld resigns

This shows Bush is like a school yard bully...

confront him and he cowers back...All the talk of being tough sounds good when you have layers of cover.Take it away and the peron is quiet puny..

I sometimes wonder if 9/11 exposed a softer underbelly.Bush was elected out of fear and now that the smoke cleared the people have answered in one voice..

Original article: "Inside the Jihad"

Bad excerpt.....

It really does not throw any light on the organization.

Original article: Obama's magic

Pick winners..

2008 is too important for Democrats to take a chance on somebody like Obama. I personally think America is not ready to pick a Black President. The democrats need their best candidates out there that have a chance of winning. This is not the time for Emotions.

This is a problem....

that would cripple America in the long run. Look at what Religion and fanatical religion did to what was once a flourishing Middle-EAst.

Would the Evangelicals go back to the holy land and live in the desert? Why not?Jesus lived there and importantly a simple life. Can these guys do it?I do not think so.Spewing Hate in the name of God is age old and older than Christianity itself..End of the day they are no different than Al-Queda which wants the whole world to pray to the Muslim God.Just remove the word Muslim and replace it with Christian and you have a perfect fit!

America is about Freedom and mainly capitalism.I do not think the values Evangelicals talk about can co-exist with Capitalism. If Capitalism remains strong then America has a chance. If not....will it be a zero sum game?

Original article: Finding my religion

Religion brings out the worst in us...

as we all can see by reading most of the letters posted below AND by the very nature of this article.

This "my toy is better than yours" mentality, no matter how correctly framed, always puts people on the defense.Liberal or Conservative. We do not need to degrade Christianity to make Islam look better or Vice Versa. I think Salon needs a policy of not talking about religion. It does nobody any good.

White Man's Burden...

theory does not hold in this age and never did.Even if the Iranian youth wanted democracy what makes some of us think that they want America to deliver it to them.Do any of us want a stranger coming to our homes and telling us how to raise our kids or make love to our Wife?Heck, the same conservatives do not even like their own governments to even look at them.

This is pure hypocrisy.

I remember when the Iraq war started, asking a Republican colleague of mine at work, how many Iraqi friends he had?or if he lost sleep over the last decade worrying about the living conditions of the Iraqis or their lives under the rule of Saddam the Despot!
