Undocumented Aliens

So, when the undocumented alien walks into the emergency room with a broken leg we are going to say go home sucker? That seems morally repugnant. So, if we arent going to be evil bastards, we are paying for it anyway. Lets let them pay their risk premiums to offset that cost shall we?

Crying Wolf

At this point how can we tell? The Right's complete abandonment of facts and willingness to constantly lie has now made truth impossible to discern. I just assume its bogus all the time now if its coming from that direction.

Blunt from MO

Roy Blunt is a national embarassment, but his local embarassment is to Missouri (MO), not Mississippi.

Limbaugh is a fool, but a dangerous one.

If he runs for president in 2012 it means one of two things:

1) The Republican Party is laughably Fubar.

2) The United Stats is non-laughably Fubar.

Lets hope its 1.

We are living on the edge right now. I am glad grown ups are in charge right now, but sometimes even grown ups arent enough. And when that happens it is the hour of the demagogue, and Rush would give Mussolni a run for his money.

How beatiful it is to have leaders that inspire and make us proud.

Its enough to make us all shout.

At this point it's just an elaborate joke

Just when you think you have read the most idiotic "conservative" nutjob screed someone else comes along. Will you rise to the challenge Right Wing Hack Nation? I am sure you will.

However

It probably is fair to blame feminism on male pigs.

Thanks

I very much enjoyed the daily column. I hope to enjoy the less frequent output even more.

Nice Articl

If being honest, insightful, and entertaining are the cardinal sins of pop culture criticism, Klosterman is going to be pretty lonely in hell.

You Couldnt Be More Right

And dont get me started about how unbelievably overempowered flight attendants are. I dont think I have been on a flight over 3 hours in the last few years where some passenger who had the audacity to voice a complaint about being stuffed into a sardine can for 3 hours was told that if he/she kept it up they would land the plan right away and throw them in jail. I once personally was on a plane that had been delayed at a gate for over two hours. When I asked a flight attendant what was going on, she said we were waiting for some connecting passengers. I politely and in a normal tone of voice said "It would be nice if the people who actually were here were also considered. That resulted on me being removed from the plane and lectured to by an airport cop about 9/11 for 5 minutes. Things have gotten utterly ridiculous.

Clarification

Just to be clear, its not like I HATE her reviews. I just find her hilariously tough on film. Its a bit like Simon Cowell, when she actually admits to liking something its a big endorsement. I have no idea if Hancock is good or not, but I wasnt surprised to see the review.

No, I am winning.

Do a rotten tomatoes search where she is out of the majority on not liking a movie. Prop betting isnt about ALWAYS winning its about winning more than you lose. I am a huge winner on this one.

Hint: Wall-E

Do you like ANYTHING?

I have a running prop bet with my friends about whether Stephanie will like anything. She is making me rich.

Swingy States

Missouri is coming off a completely disastarous run from a Repub administration. I think if he can take MO and Iowa and hold serve from 2004 he is in good shape.

I Couldnt Agree More

I actually think this will form a battle tested experienced candidate and network. Its naive to think the repubs arent going to be 10x worse than anything seen in this primary no matter how hard fought it is. Let's use a bit of good old fashioned survival of the fitest and get the strongest candidate.

Really?

Is all this hyperbole for real? Guy said something stupid, but not literally malicious. He apologized (maybe half heartedly). Lets put this crap behind us. War in Iran anyone?

This Seems Excessive

This just is another instance of the Clinton machine grabbing hold of a publicity bone and not letting go. Yes, he used the words poorly. Yes, he shoul apologize. But, I use "pimp" in this way alot casually, and dont mean ANY reference to running a sex business, and obviously neither did he. This is a reminder that I need to be more careful with language, and so does he. But, the lack of grace in accepting the apology is offputting in the extreme.

A solution without a problem

I basically agree that this is a solution without a problem, but to the extent that someone wants an ebook reader, the Sony reader is more attractive and perfectly functional. They are going to have to come up with a good reason for buying this for it to sell.

Oh NO!

An author who has been exceedingly generous with her fans DARES to want to retain the rents on the intellectual property she developed. Someone call the Po-Lice, I think capatalism is at work.

Seriously, expecting someone to give away wholesale profits in their inventions is a bit much.

Not too impressed by this guy

Im honestly not that impressed. If you bully your way to the front of a line, wont give up the mike when asked, then tell the cops to fuck off, then refuse to cooperate. Well, they cant do anything they want to you, but a taser seems like a reasonable response. If he was cuffed when they tasered him, they may have gone over the line, but they certainly would have been justified in wrestling him to a prone position.

Just a BSDM Cover

As one person said earlier here --

This so-called "Christian Domestic Discipline" is a pretty feeble attempt, I think, at legitimizing a set of practices which, within the conservative evangelical Christian community, would otherwise be condemned for being kinky, dirty, and overtly sexual.

I had a family member who was allegedly a "fundamentalist" Christian, who, surprising no one, eventually went this direction. It continued to surprise noone when he eventually gave up the pretense of the Christian part and went full bore into the BDSM community. Lots of people have kinky sexual urges, this is a silly attempt to place those kinky urges into some kind of semi-sanctioned context. Its exactly the same urge, coming from exactly the same place, and its fooling nobody.
