I just heard on Hardball -- tho haven't been able to fact-check it independently -- that 55% of all IA Caucus goers in 2004 were first-timers -- so maybe the Des Moines Register poll might me more "accurate" after all.
I will vote for HRC if she is the nominee but am supporting another candidate -- but wish luck to all of our great candidates. We Democrats are certainly lucky, aren't we?
To the Kiddy: Yes, you are shallow.
In general: Am I the only Democrat in the world who can like my chosen candidate (Obama) without demonizing the other candidates and threatening to hold my breath until my face turns blue -- and not vote for any other candidate than my own in the general election?
I hope these nasty comments are being made by trolls or by people who will come to their senses by next November.
The point is to elect a Democratic president. Remember? Get it together, people!
However, many of us are becoming worried that the Clintons have decided that they want to beat Obama so badly that they will do anything to win -- including make the kinds of insinuations some blacks in South Carolina are talking about.
We are getting a bit worried...
We don't want a bloodbath. It started out that we Democrats were going to sail through the Primaries and on to victory in November. Now it looks as if the GOP is getting it together and we are starting to crash and burn.
Please, let's not!
We have two wonderful candidates, but if we tear ourselves apart now, it won't matter how good our candidate is...
You didn't give your opinion of what happened in SF...those of us who couldn't be there at such an unusual event would like to know your thoughts...
Tomorrow...I would like to know the thoughts of the dishwashers and casino workers and why they are supporting Obama...I remember the scenes from the movie about Robert Kennedy's assassination and how poignant it was that the hotel staff adored him, wanted to vote for him but had such a hard time being able to do it...
Also -- are there any young people in Nevada who care about the election?
Thanks for the interesting posting about the women in California...we haven't gotten much reporting on events like that.
I am not sure what your posting was about -- but I do agree that the GOP should GO! I am voting for the person I think will win in November and the person I think will make the best President. Period.
Minorities and women have NOT always voted for "their kind." Otherwise we would have had more black and female nominees running president in the Democratic Party long before now!
It's been a snowy night and I made a lovely beef daube and had some Chianti.
Durian Joe. Shame on you!
The whole point of a labor movement is that it is supposed to use "solidarity" for the greater good of all the members -- including when you have a candidate endorsement. Sure it is a "roll of the dice," but you are hoping to get a reward eventually.
The Clintons may rue the day they encouraged labor union members to tell their own leaders to go fly a kite...and to encourage leaders from other labor groups to come in and get the members of a different union to vote against their own organization.
Can this really be good for the Democratic Party and for encouraging unions to endorse Democrats candidates in the future? Do the Clintons ever think about the future of the Party -- or of anyone but themselves?
And, if there was ANY encouragement by ANY Clinton supporters in Nevada to fan the flames of Latino/African American discomfort with each other -- that will also come back to haunt our Party. We need BOTH of these groups -- for moral AND practical reasons.
I am sorry, but it is this kind of "self-centered hardball" that is starting to really turn me off. I have loved and defended the Clintons for years but this is discouraging.
I will support and vote for Hillary in the General...I think she would make a better president than even the most "moderate" Republican you could manage to find -- anywhere!
Why don't some of you tell me that about Obama? Or any of the other candidates.
It's a PRIMARY. We can fight for our candidate or be unhappy with another candidate without you all insulting us.
Believe me, if you "toss" out the folks who are supporting other Democratic primary candidates -- who in the heck are you going to bring in the replace us and vote for Hillary? Hmmm...rich Republican women? I wouldn't count on it.
So chill, folks.
We can be upset and hope the methods someone uses to win don't do more harm than good in the long run without being "traitors." That kind of rhetoric is harmful.
