MSNBC chat
[Read the article: My sanest conversation on TV, ever]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]First: I do NOT think there is a racist bone in the Clinton's bodies or in the bodies of any of their supporters.
But, I have been watching the MSNBC coverage all morning -- I am stuck -- for family reasons in a hotel room all day...
It was interesting that when there were 2 black men and a Southern man, Scarborough -- who mostly drives me batty -- and Mika and Shuster chatting -- it was the 2 African-Americans and Southerner who talked about how racial code words were being used against Obama.
As someone who has lived in a Southern state more than 10 years, I am afraid that Mika and Shuster just didn't really "get it."
But, I believe that after these political pros discovered they could disconcert some non-black voters and get Obama "off message" -- with the help of the MSM -- they kept it up.
But, again, I think it is simply political opportunism. Not racism.
But, how would Clinton supporters like it if Obama mentioned that he couldn't wait to invite Bill Clinton to the White House to have a nice "cigar?" Or if Obama mentioned that he envied Hillary ability to forgive because it might make her the best person to negotiate peace treaties with all of our former enemies?
These might be valid issues to bring up because the GOP will likely bring them up in the General Election but that doesn't make them ethical in a Primary Election. There are good ways to win and there are bad ways to win.

[Read the article: My sanest conversation on TV, ever]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]First, Senator Obama identifies himself as an African-American.
Second, he truly is an "African-American," as the child of an African father and American mother.
I suppose we could call him a Kenyan-American, but it is more common to use the term "Hispanic-American" than Colombian-American so it has precedence.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I have no idea what you are talking about.
Do we call Anglo-Indians White Anglo-Indians or Asian Indian-Anglos -- depending on which parent is what?
My mother is "white" and my father is "Latino" or Hispanic -- whatever you want to say. I identify myself as a Latina or just as an American. Or as an Hispanic-American -- depending on the circumstances. Not by the ethnicity of my one parent or another. But it is MY choice.
A person who comes from Ireland may or may not call themselves Irish-American -- it is up to them.
It all depends on so many factors. But, self-identity is the most important factor.
But, go ahead and be Contrarian.

Pathetic and unjust...
[Read the article: Did Hillary Clinton really win in Florida?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]My 21 year old son grows more and more disillusioned about Hillary Clinton every day. While I know I will vote for whoever the Dem candidate is, he says he will sit out the race if Hillary is the candidate.
He believes HRC is showing a "win at all costs" side that convinces him that her presidency will be a continuation of the "Bush Regime." It is hard to argue with him after HRC's "Florida Gambit."
The only fair way to let Michigan and Floria's delegates "count" would be to strip them of half their delegates and then give half to each candidate -- RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE.
Thus punishing each state while keeping things fair for both candidates.
Then, maybe my idealistic young son will feel comfortable voting for the party's candidate -- whoever he or she may be.

Lose his anti-war credentials...and honor?
[Read the article: Pulling out the big guns]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If Bill Richardson does not endorse Barack Obama before the New Mexico primary -- it means he did not seriously mean it when he ran as the "Anti-War" candidate.
I like Richardson and my family is from New Mexico -- but this will be very sad, indeed.
So, again, Bill: a potential cabinet postion -- or integrity about the war? Which is it? These are the moments where character counts and destiny calls. You seem to have chosen ambition over honor.
Tragic.

[Read the article: Maria Shriver endorses Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hillary was happy to mention her endorsements from RFK Jr., Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Kerry Kennedy. It is part of the political game. Don't sound so bitter.

This is pathetic: You vote for the person whose policies you support!!
[Read the article: Undecided '08: Should I vote for Clinton or Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You don't vote for Granny, for Mommy or for anyone else. If you vote for anyone -- vote for your children or for the children of the people around you.
Who will make the world a better place?
Who will get us out of the war?
Who will lead this country into a better tomorrow.
For God's sake -- you don't vote to make a political statement about "who you are!"
Grow up Rebecca!!!
It isn't a high school election This is real life.

Well, Rebecca, I guess we know who YOU voted for...
[Read the article: Clinton gets her party started]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obama got most of the Red and Purple States, Obama got more Latinos that HRC got African Americans, Obama got more Independents and Under 30 year olds than HRC got women...
Hillary was "relieved" to win "traditional," overwhelmingly Democratic States.
Gee, I wonder who is in a better position to beat McCain?
Hillary cares more about herself than about the Party and winning a big victory in November.
And Hillary winning will not look like the "First American Woman President" to people overseas. She will look like "Another wife or family member of a rich, powerful Leader of one Party taking office after the Opposing Party loses favor." Nothing historic about that in the Third World!
Such a shame for women in our country...
