Until every man, who is an equal part in the act of conception, fulfills every responsibility implicit in each act of intercourse, it is nothing less than subjugation of women to imply that every woman should carry that burden.
Amen.
And just for the record: I am so fricking tired of this issue yet again dominating American elections and American voter mindsets.
I couldn’t disagree more with this perception of Sarah Palin. On the contrary, she is simply communicating on a frequency that many of us cannot hear. She is speaking to the Christian right. When she says 'love of Israel' the message is received, loud and clear. Believers in the end times know exactly what she believes, what she stands for...
I tend to agree with you and I think there is a lot of material here that needs to be dealt with. Someone who all her life has been so embedded in the end time Christian fundamentalist ideology, as Palin, and has not made a clear public break with it, should never be allowed into such a high political position. Someone has got to press her into voicing her religious ideology.
Thanks for the link, that is a very good video. I hope GG will look at it as well.
GC!
A ugly snippet from Palin was this:`a tidbit from Harper's Magazine mentions her dangerous/scary belief: ~ ` "Those that die without Christ have a horrible, horrible surprise."
Jeepers is that sick. Imagine if these crazy people gain a powerful influence on, say, our educational system. Imagine children being taught such in such fear.
Imagine how they would use their fear ideologies to manipulate the public in the difficult economic times we are in and yet facing.
I "come from" the heart of the midwest, flyover country, and Miss "You betcha, I'm so folksy!" isn't fooling anyone, least of all women like me who went to school with her type, the vacuous, yet vicious cheerleader who would 'wink' at you while you faced her, then stab you in the back as soon as you turned..
Check out this entry from Andrew Sullivan's blog. You can listen for a while at Sarah-baby debating back in 2006. No "you betchas" or "doggones" thrown in there back then.

She is the GOP showgirl. Doing her pseudo-folksy can-can.
The verb-emptied sentences were already part of her style back then, though.
"i suffer under the Germans - they are soo... rational!"
Oh aren't they. They just have Angie the physicist chancellor and we now have Sarah - and even the strongest schnapps probably wouldn't let them enjoy our kind of delightful politshow.
The male side of the palinized Republican base has let their dumbed vestige of brains slip into a lower body part, and they hold it in their hand as they sit in their lay-z-boy grinning into the tube, following her every wink. She has their vote alright.
Oh how sexist of me. Sorry boys.
"As polling data conclusively demonstrates, the mindset of the voting public is infinitely more rational and substance-based than the pundits and the Right fantasize when they lyrically praise the Regular American..."
I hope you're right. I hope it is enough to stem the tsunami of primitive swiftboating that the rightwing masterminds are sure to let loose - some filth, some idiocy - right before the election.
Americans don't really have any idea how the rest of the world makes fun of them. How Bush politics have made them look like passive, dumbed citizens of some banana republic. How angry the world is, about the Wall street crash.
Living in Europe, I regularly get the brunt of this. It generally makes me sick when I hear my 10 year-old son's friends with Bush jokes, or when the even the half-senile old neighbor of mine cluck-clucks about the mess the US has made in Iraq.
