big gub'ment

kerry's misstep aside, can somebody please speak up about the raising taxes/big government myth i'm seeing on my tv every 9 minutes? Raise taxes? Yes, on the richest 1 percent of Americans. They've earned the right to be rich, and earned the privilege of supporting the land that made them free. Big gub'ment? You kidding me? Biggest ever now, and I'm tired. Tired of these commercials, and tired of this GOP BS.

And to the DNCC -- Why bail on Angie (Piccione(sp?)? She's got a chance, and you pull your money? Go AP in the 4th CD! The Fighting Fourth!

very funny and spot on

Hilarious, and one of the most enjoyable pieces I've read on Salon in some time. The author hits all the points that make this an important story, including the path M. Cheney has chosen publicly in politics vs. the path she has chosen personally. Sorry, they can't be separate anymore.

She shivves for Bush/Daddy, she opens herself up to the hypocrisy. Her hyprocisy? No, but to Daddy and his idiot followers? Absolutely.

Families build walls, and sometimes that is healthy. My hope is a good strong wall forms between Mary and her family and the degenerate genes that permeate the would-be grandparents.

God bless to Mary and hers.

-- A father of two (girls).

Original article: Daddy issues

Retreads

Let's not forget Poppy bailed the shrub out of problems his entire life, pre-Selection. Later, after it became time for the Shrub to stand on his own, he renounced Daddy and listened more to Daddy's friends - some of whom are now trying to inform him of his idiocy. Then he stopped listening to them.

Other "friends of the family" continue to lead him down the road of ruin and human lives are lost every day.

It's time for a criminal investigation into this presidency.

(The whole Bush family might be worth a look, but let's start small. Like in the VP's office.)

Boehner bawling?

Watched this just now after a looong day at work, and maybe my eyes deceived me but was Boehner crying? I mean sobbing visibly at the beginning of NP's speech and still acting like he's visited a salt lick at the end? Maybe I was seeing things, but man, was I howling...

BTW - called my daughters in to watch Nancy get introduced and watch the first few minutes of her speech. I'm 44, and my parents called me out of bed for the moon walk in '69. This was that big of a day, and it's about time.

God Bless the fightin' 110th!

Original article: Molly lives

Inspiration (not) treading lightly

I had the privilege of hearing Molly speak many times at the Council on World Affairs event in Boulder, and one day, while attending a session headed by Harvey Wasserman, there she was! Two seats away! After the discussion I introduced myself and told her she was the inspiration for why I write. She was very gracious, and a lovely woman. Her spirit beamed.

I need to get off my ass and write more political stuff -- that's what Molly would tell me, and that's what I'll do.

I'm from Missouri, and we generally hate Texans on principle. But for Molly, and Hightower, my view has shifted. No squishy Texans, these. God bless.

Original article: Drowning in Iraq hyperbole

Debatacle

Watching this debate with interest from the Colorado cabin (1,800 square feet in the 'burbs), and there have been Lincoln references, Somalia references and high school football references. Meanwhile, men, women and children are dying. One California guy even mentioned the monetary upshot -- "in the trillions" -- of our misadventure.

Madness is as madness does. Or, as The Shrub says, "Sometimes money, ahem, trumps peace."

P.S. -- Curious, no Bob McNamara reference?

Original article: Rove, proven liar

National security

Turd Blossom serves at the pleasure of the Shrub. As Joe points out, Turd is a demonstrated liar, but the American people don't see it that way because they're not paying attention. How about if the Democrat party pointed out some of the falsehoods of this clown going back to his early days? Most people haven't read "Bush's Brain," and most people won't care about Joe's column until it's revealed what Turd is all about. I think that the more they know, the more Americans would be repulsed by this man and start to pay attention to things like Joe is saying.

Just my two cents. Howard? Are you listening? Get Rove's bio out there big time!

Time to mosey ...

Released into the custody of his "work wife," Ms. Miers, The Decider catches Poppy's private plane to Kennebunkport, with ideas for a little deep-sea fishing and some time for golf. The Pioneers, who always seem to be hanging around, are grabby, and they never chip in for beer. Babs doesn't help, always bringing out chips and salsa to the white men surrounding the selected one.

And back in D.C., what's always been known is now official: Gunner has a solid plan forward and the W is not missed.

Original article: The O'Murdoch factor

Shivving the truth

From the "Duh" department:

The Dark Star wants this news organization precisely because it speaks the truth in its news pages. Think about the us-vs.-them mentality that Murdoch and his neo-nutbags will

play up if the news in the WSJ suddenly mirrors that of his "Faux News." It will put a clear dividing line between those who subscribe to the "liberal" NYT. You're either fir us or agin us.

Sad, really. The WSJ's reporting is second to none, although their editorial pages have always contained the assorted well-respected, right-wing oddballs. Now, they'll have the run of the place.

I go back to work at my job at a locally owned, family -based newspaper chain with a heavy heart and optimism that there is a better way - and i hope i find myself there soon.
