@ Pincus
[Read the article: Senate approves Iraq withdrawal plan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Joshua Pincus writes:
"Even if we were to make a decision to leave NOW, the process of redeployment and a safe exit from the country will take years."
So you're saying we should leave NOW? Waddayaknow! We're in total agreement!

Well said, Jedimaster!
[Read the article: Maybe his wives always did the shopping]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Perhaps many or most people aren't entirely conscious of individual prices, but most have a good grasp of their average weekly or monthly expenses. If a worker nets approximately $840/month ($7.00/hour), and the average monthly grocery bill, conservatively, is $150-$200, I think politicians need to be aware of that. Maybe asking that they know individual prices is a bit much, but asking that they understand the financial situation of their average constituent certainly is not.

Oh, well, okay then.
[Read the article: Couldn't call it unexpected]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]McCain: "...we are achieving some small successes..."
After many years, billions of dollars, and thousands of deaths, I guess some "small successes" make it all worth while. Carry on, then.

Call me a coward, but...
[Read the article: Compassionate conservatism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Derbyshire: "And even if hit, a .22 needs to find something important to do real damage -- your chances aren't bad."
gbarton: "A hit from a .22, even point blank, is quite survivable."
Yep, getting hit by a .22 is no more dangerous than a paper cut. That's why 33 people are dead.
For those wondering if having armed civilians on the scene would have made everyone safer, recall our fearless VP shooting his friend in the face under the admittedly tense situation of hunting wing-clipped quail.
And as someone who was once fired at repeatedly with a 12-gauge shotgun, I'm quite comfortable telling you my reaction was to quickly take cover, not "I'm gonna charge this guy while he's reloading."

Sending Bush more pens...
[Read the article: The pen is mightier than the people]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Slackie Onasis wrote:
"Gosh, I hope the parents of every fallen Marine (and other branches of the service) send Bush pens."
Slackie, that is a great idea! You should email that to The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and anyone else who might be able to get that off the ground.

@tomreedtoon
[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You consider sucking "purple pulsating donkey dicks" to be "homoerotic"?! You must have quite an unusual sex life.

Now I'm spinning
[Read the article: Spinning Giuliani on abortion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That's the funniest thing I've seen on Video Dog in a loooong time!
"...in reality we're not that single-dimensional."
Bwhahahahahaha! Stop! You're killing me!

Peaceful Religion?
[Read the article: An "honor killing" in Iraq, captured by cellphone]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Referring to Mormonism, Protestantism and Catholicism, oedipus writes: "At least such religions haven't a chapter in their books that prescribes what this poor girl received."
I don't know what books you've been reading, but the Christian Bible absolutely calls for stoning for any number of "sins."
"Peaceful religion" is an oxymoron.

That smirk says...
[Read the article: The impertinent prince]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Heh, heh. Look y'all! I'm, standin' here with the Queen of France!"

What?!?
[Read the article: The stone is cast]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Evangelicalism grew in the exurban megachurches, and the megachurches, implicitly and occasionally explicitly, rejected Falwell's approach to the faith... With the maturation of American evangelicalism has come an interest in social justice, environmentalism and peace."
I'm with Erechtheides on this. Have you been drinking Kool-Aid from strangers? Did you copy this out of one of their press releases? WTF?
Far as I can tell, they preach the same mindless hate and divisiveness Falwell did, and I'm sure any number of them are just itching to jump into his TV seat while it's still warm.

B-b-but...
[Read the article: The stone is cast]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Shouldn't all Christians rejoice when a Christian dies? After all, they leave this sinful, mortal world for a better place! An eternity of living in a mansion in the sky where there is no sickness or strife, the rivers flow with milk and honey, and Jesus smiles and pats you on the back and lets you win at checkers, or something like that. So, what's to mourn?
Me? I don't care where Falwell is, I'm just glad he's not here anymore.

Thank you, Mr. Scherer!
[Read the article: What you missed while watching "Dancing With the Stars"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Nice summation all the way through, but my favorite is:
"The questions in this round will be premised on a fiction," says Hume. No news there.
I'll be chuckling over that one all day!

You just know...
[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]it's Bush and Cheney behind those masks.

Yes, those poor, put-upon Christains...
[Read the article: "It is impossible to miss the discrimination against ... believers"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Recall all those stories of teen Christians committing suicide because of bullying secularists, of picketing atheists preventing them from getting into their churches, of pastors being assassinated and churches being bombed, of Christians being denied the right to marry and/or adopt, laws and constitutional amendments against them being passed, being beaten and tied to fence posts and left to die, being dragged behind trucks until their bodies fall apart.
"Discrimination," "intolerance" and "judicial destruction" my ass.
"Implicit within this vision of the Founding Fathers is a pluralistic sensibility. Any true religion would be therefore deserving of the respect of the government, which would include the freedom to express in public the moral principles of such a true religion."
Oh, I see. Not any religion, but any "true religion." And who decides that, I wonder?
"In this age we face the irreconcilable wing of [Christianity], an enemy who does not believe that God created all men equal by right. According to their evil ideology, the [Evangelical] believes that justice is only owed to fellow [Evangelicals]--while the rest of humanity (even fellow [Christians]) has no rights.
