    There is public space and there is private space. For what ever reason, there is a gut feeling among most people that phone conversations belong in the private space.

    The ancients understood this which is why phone booths had doors on them.

    We can't help feeling repulsed and disgusted. It's like encountering someone urinating on the sidewalk.

    Religion is a red herring.

    Private school attendance ballooned in the South after segregation was imposed. The black kids go to public school and the white kids go to private school.

    Fine, give them their voucher, but mandate that any school that takes them must be integrated.

    No seriously.

    The renegade states get penalized with the expense of running another election, Clinton doesn't get the benefit of being the only candidate in those elections, and it will keep us occupied until the convention.

    Just this morning on the news I heard that a female suicide bomber killed a bunch of Iraqis and 9 US solders were killed by a roadside bomb. The story concluded with "over all violence is down in Iraq".

    citizens shutting down their government's war was kind of special.

    Gen. Franks plan called for 4 divisions; two would invade up through staging areas in the south, and two would come down through Turkey in the north.

    The docturn of Leaner Meaner Techno forces precluded that and Franks settled for 2 divisions.

    Then Turkey bailed (they never got paid what we promised them for the first gulf war) so they went in with just the one division.

    One quarter of what the commander had said he needed. I suppose they could have balked, but they had already seem what happens the the careers of those who question the numbers.

    I have found it helpful in such cases when a pundent speaks to subsitute the word democrat for republican to get a clearer veiw of what might be going on.
