Original article: The baby I turned away

Joan Walsh, please promise us one thing:

That you won't publish even ONE of this daft cow's "personal essays" after (god willing) she delivers her baby.

To admit to picking a developing country from which to purchase a baby based upon an interest in yoga and a taste for Indian food is beyond narcissistic. Just jaw-droppingly insipid and vapid.

Enough already of these silly, silly women who want a baby as an accoutrement, rather than wanting to create a family - which, as it happens, involves not just a pliable infant, but a volatile toddler, a grimy grade-schooler, a cranky teen, an extraordinarily expensive college student, and so on and so on. Or, involves loving and caring for a child for whom all of the above is a struggle - and no, there are no "do-overs" when the child springs from your own loins instead some third-world "nursery."

As Chryssie said: When you own a big chunk of the bloody Third World, the babies just come with the scenery. They're NOT THE SCENERY - which is how this writer comes across as thinking.

This whole "it's the page hits, stupid" thing is really getting old.

I wish the MSM (and the "alt" media, for that matter) would report more on John Edwards.

I'm sick of this Obama vs. Hillary story, especially when John Edwards came in second in Iowa and, it seems to me, has something to say and do about the corporate oligarchy.

Enough already with the Hill & Bill show. There are some of us out here - probably more than you think - who would rather never again hear about the Clintons, thank you very much.

That is all.

Original article: Stay classy, John Edwards

Personally, I think Hillary's staffers TOLD her to cry, to "humanize" her.

Pretty cynical of me, right?

How many other people are willing to own up that they wondered the same exact thing?

I think Traister's hissy-fit over what Edwards said is stupid and partisan hack-dom. But, as others have already noted here, this seems to be the currency of the realm at Salon these days.

You know what else? I've seen those screenshots of Traister's video comments, and I think she needs some grooming lessons. I'd never in a million years say something like this out loud, but, Rebecca: you've inspired me.

Maybe you can pick up some tips - on grooming AND on "class" - from John and Elizabeth Edwards.

yeesh.

They'll never pull this or any intentionally contentious article BECAUSE IT'S THE PAGE HITS, STUPID.

That's about the size of it, folks.

Come back, David Talbot, come back!

Original article: The comeback chick

Joan saying the back to back posts on Bill are "illuminating" just underlines the Cary Tennis LW Syndrome:

That you'll read and agree with and respond to any post that validates your own position, however obviously out-to-lunch.

I used to think it was "just the page hits, stupid," but now I'm leaning towards just the "stupid."

The Clintons are polarizing, and it's only made worse by the media bashing.

There's far more wrong with the MSM (and the "alt" media, for that matter), than just their egregiously horrid Hill-bashing. But that's not something I'm really concerned about during this election year.

I'm still waiting, still hopeful for the 21st Century to arrive in Washington, D.C., and, to me, John Edwards' tilting toward the corporate oligarchy and Barack Obama's JFK-ish energizing message of hope (that's obviously bringing in a new generation of voters, just as JFK did) are what I want to see. NOT more polarizing, grid-locking Clinton bashing and the kind of infantile tantrumming her enemies would do for however long she was in office. We as a nation simply cannot risk any more inertia and/or backsliding. It's serious, folks, this mess this country is in, domestically and globally. Four or eight more years of what's gone before will be our doom. CHANGE: It's not just some manipulative campaign rhetoric - it's a life preserver thrown to a drowning nation.

Any Clinton is just not what this country needs right now. I don't want to find out what I would do if she were the party nominee - not vote? I couldn't vote Republican, but I DAMN SURE DON'T WANT HER AS MY PRESIDENT.

It appalls me that you journos try to foist these ridiculous "analyses" on us, about "the Bradley effect" or the "woman backlash" or even what the ridiculously insipid Rebecca Traister describes as "voting for Hillary to get back at Chris Matthews." Good god in heaven, if THIS is how the so-called "electorate" decides to vote, maybe we really DO deserve what we end up with as our "fearless leaders."

I've bookmarked the Australian and Canadian immigration web sites so they're readily availible to me come November 5, because I honestly don't think I'm what can be called an "American" any more.

Every one of you ridiculous, nattering nabobs of negativity (and Spiro, may you continue roasting in hell) are just stomach-turning, and, sadly, this now includes about 99% of the Salon.com staff.

Blech. But I simply cannot describe the despair I feel.

That is all.
