were not indicative of the general population. Over generalization of their supporters isn't the right way to go.
People in general believe what they want to believe. They will get hit with opinion leaders like Rush, O'Reily and Palin and if their views hit home, they stay there.
I don't think anything but a nice sitdown with them over coffee for a few hours discussing the facts will convince them otherwise. It's difficult to do, as I have tried, and a 30 second campaign ad can destroy everything you've tried to build.
Changing a lifestyle is hard to do.
McCain already spinning this one.
Everyone, even republicans, know she was a bad pick FROM THE BEGINNING but they had to carry the water anyway and when he evened out in the polls, they saw it as their chance to win.
I think McCain is already finished but this just blunts arguments of "who can you trust" and they can easily link her to Cheney. However, I hope Obama sparsely mentions this as it serves him no good to go after the story. Let the McCain camp spar with the pundits and Obama can just sit back and watch while he coasts to victory.
I just couldn't believe how he wouldn't budge at all on having an opinion about this.
I think we are seeing a split between the GOP. There are those that are looking for Ayers stories - Hannity, Ed and those that want to keep it clean and hit Obama on all the economic ideas and taxes, etc. It's interesting because the Hannity group are just water carriers. They wouldn't support any democrat regardless, so their opinion shouldn't even be measured (although this hate speech is an issue I guess).
Problem is, McCain is in between both of those groups and both are losing propositions. You could tell McCain wasn't happy with the tone of his own campaign. I think he buckled to his campaign staff and that is really the issue here. How is he going to lead when he can't even stand up to his own campaign. It's clear he's not happy with this orchestrated attack on Obama.
My hope is McCain goes out and campaigns about issues and differences and loses gracefully. I said as much in an email to his campaign. I honestly don't think he's a terrible human being like so many on the left think. When you are under the political microscope, everything is over exaggerated and the fact that McCain is sincere in helping the country shouldn't be questioned. How he wants to do it however, is open game.
I know people have "debunked" this idea and that "it's been a long time since then" but I think overconfidence has been the dems downfall in the past 2 elections. I don't want it to be this time. Gotta keep working on those people we know and stay with this through the end.
McCain's new campaign strategy, I have to admit, is going to work better than all the others. Provided he stays with it more than 3 days.
What we are seeing here is results from the Ayers talk. Don't get all giddy just yet, this thing isn't over until it's over.
All they needed to do was change the guys' shirts to seem like it was a different day :p
But in all seriousness, those were perfect because they captured the essence of the issues. Great stuff.
People need to be open to this idea and not stuck in their little bubbles.
McCain gave his best performance....although he kept shooting himself in the foot. 2 steps forward and one step back. Obama played defense and was way too cautious. He should have shot back harder on the "palling around with terrorist" stuff. Maybe it's a no win in any way but I wanted a stronger response.
"McCain gave his best performance....although he kept shooting himself in the foot."
What does it say about a caandidate, when his "best performance" is the one where he "kept shooting himslef in the foot"?
It doesn't say much about him at all. More importantly is what does it say about Obama. I'm sorry, but his performance was listless and mostly talking points I've heard before. McCain, while bumbling around a lot, was new and much more forceful.
It was a bad performance for Obama. If people could get out of their bubbles, they could see this too.
I thought McCain actually had his best performance, but he didn't do enough. If he hadn't bumbled around on his points he would have won convincingly.
HOWEVER, I think people were looking for someone that looked presidential, and McCain did not. I wanted Obama to fight back harder but I think he went with the smart move and didn't take any chances.
So I don't think anything changed overall. McCain may have earned a few people but nothing that will change anything substantially.
"1. It's Juliebird, not Julie."
Cut the holier than you crap.
The rest of your reply is meant for someone else. I'm not sure why, since you seem to understand the finer points of using correct references in posts. Right?
Last line is great. I always thought they should use his own words against him.
Nice work.
What a load of crap.
You didn't think that was racist? JFC Just throw some grape soda on there to make it complete?
Christ.
and she will...that she does this same crap. I don't think moderate American is buying it. This is great for the base but I don't think this stuff is working with anyone else.
